Sunday Div2 -- Will it be a competitive Division??
With all the new teams in Div 2, does anyone think it will be competitive as the majority of the sides will be from last years Div 3? Or does everyone assume that Pontains are going to walk it??

But that’s the only reason Pontians will win it…………..cause they have moneyLFC8 wrote:I think the Pontians will run away with it with all the money there spending on players but the rest of the div will be very competitive.
but it think the rest of the div will be fairly even and certainly competitive

By the looks of DIV 2 it will be 9 teams vying for 1 promotion place as Pontians have it in the bag.
I said it to the Vista lads and will see it to the Beach boys that last year was your best chance for promotion.........
My tip is for Pontians and Knights to go up....

I think the other 9 teams have already given Pontians a forfeit each week, so they'll win every game 3-0.
I'm not sure money makes you run any harder. I'd still be a lazy arse even with a millionbucks in my back pocket. it could be their undoing...
Pontians are somehow favourites, but I'd expect West Beach, Vista, Knights and Gully to be competitive at the top end. I hope it's as competitive as last year. It's always a shame when money ruins an "amateur" division (previous champions being Villa and Florina).

But no point being a yo-yo club. Ask Royal Park and NAB! We'll see if Fulham has the depth to survive...bigpond wrote:Wishful thinking Beach Driller.Beach_Driller wrote:Well If Fulham get relegated for not have a B squad...we will just get the league to promote Pontians

My prediction is for Pontains to be promoted too. We played them last week and they knocked the ball around quite well in patches. They did squeel like women on a few occasions, so i dont think they will like the rough side of div 2 sides. But hey they have great experience and the striker is quality. A proven goal scorer is always hard to come by in div 2. Just look at torsten for farm, proven scorer and it was hard to keep him off the score sheet in every game he played.
Not too sure about 2nd spot though. Haven't vista lost a lot of players this year?? They need the experience of PC etc, but the loss of colin and danny smith will be a major blow to their promotion aspirations. Have u lads picked up a striker yet?? You need one thats for sure! You already know this though. West Beach have lost the big man McCombie to balfours , but how many of the older lads down there stayed on?? There were a few more experienced there who held it together for them last year.
Southern Knights could be a surprise package. A few decent players there last year and the pitch is one of the hardest to play on! Home ground advantage is a good thing for these lads.
TTG are always a decent team. With Mr French down there, the woods brothers, derek simpson, damien hassell and a few other boys they will be the one i will back for the best shot at 2nd. As long as they have good depth in the squad they will be fine.

Big Dan is still wandering around Lockleys Oval....Be prepared for a comeback from the big lad!
Yeah hate Southern Knight's pitch!it could be a factor..West Beach may have a few surprises this year !!
Didn't think much of Vista last year..and i don't think TTG have the squad to challenge.
Any views on Plympton and the Raptors

I agree East Boy, I think TTG will be very strong this year.East Boy wrote:My prediction is for Pontains to be promoted too. Pontians will be up there just because of the names they have on paper, but I definitely don't think that guarantees them promotion as some seem to think. Vista, Beach, and Knights will also do well.
These 5 teams could well be the top 5 but who knows what order.
With JM having a run at West Beach this year he will make a big difference, they are my tip as well as Pontian.
There is no question, we will have a tough year ahead in Div 2 at Plympton with only being informed a couple of weeks ago that we are in Div 2 in 2007. As always though, we will give it 110% each week and grind out results that we need to get. We have been promoted for the last 3-4 seasons by finishing outside of the top 2, each year we have thought its going to be tough as a promoted side from a lower position, however each promoted year we have managed to still finish in the top half of the table.

Is that a fact LFC 8! You have no idea mate. Do you play with your mate at Imbros or are they just blokes of the street that you dont know that well? Most player that are in their later stages of their careers and have won almost everything than can in this state chose to play with there mates that they might have played with in the past, in previous teams. If you look at our new signings do you really think they need an extra $50 or $100 bucks a week? Do talk crap on here. When ever a club has success at this level everyone thinks is because they pay players. I am at the Pontians and only the coach gets a fee. Look forward to knocking a couple past ya this year.LFC8 wrote:I think the Pontians will run away with it with all the money there spending on players but the rest of the div will be very competitive.
LFTWNG11.....Did you get close to the chicken wing eating record last night???????? .....it stands 17
Saw Royal Pk/Vikings play the other night, they look good, they have a brand new committee and are looking forward to a new year. They almost have their entire 2004 team back together that got them promoted to div to 1, they too will be around the mark.

Is their tall striker back this year? Also heard that Emilov has returned as well as George Kip not sure about Salagaris though.Canine wrote:Saw Royal Pk/Vikings play the other night, they look good, they have a brand new committee and are looking forward to a new year. $50 or $100 a bit extra always helps ....Nice bit of beer money. However with the prices of drinks at some grounds no wonder no one stays for a beer after the game.
Golden Eagle, there was a team last year in Div 2 that thought only the coach was getting paid and none of their players. But that was far from the true.. there was a lot of secret deals!
Personally, I would rather play with a good bunch of lad/mates than get paid to play for any team! But unfortunately i don't have any mates

You guys at West Beach love knocking us but then again we are rivals.Beach_Driller wrote:Well at least one thing is clear, whoever is in Div 2 next year will be playing Fulham..
Yeah Pumas haven't heard much about them or royal park? How is their pre-season going..
I will give you some sympathy because I would be bitter as well if I was 10 minutes away from a DIV 1 spot as you guys were last year.
Your not the 1st to predict we will go down but I guess we will have to wait and see.
Got Royal Park in a trial next week so can let you know what they are shaping up like.
Still fancy Pontians not only because of there recurits but also there performance last year in DIV 3 - undefeated and gave the DOWNS a push in the quarter finals of the cup last year when they only lost 2-1.
With the bulk of that team still there plus some other excellent signings I think they will be hard to top.
