Iv'e allway's wondered why a club like N.A.B & even GAWLER. would choose to make the step up? When clearly with all due respects there clubs were'nt ready for the move up! What i meen by this is N.A.B being relegated from 1st div back on the slide! & club support at a all time low in both support staff & supporters... I saw this for myself the year they got relegate! nothing like the N.A.B. i knew & as for GAWLER not even playing anywhere near the top ov the competition they where playing in for years... div 3? I am glad though that clubs like the VALE, GARDENS, & DOWNS clubs with the big supporter bases & strong club infrustructure who could have made the move & been more than competetive stayed in the 1st division! I'ts such a MUCH stronger & better competition IN MY OPINION than the "STATE LEAGUE" for these reasons;1. more than half ov the state league clubs would'nt be competetive in the first division in either saturday or sunday..2; no state league clubs have any where near the supporter base neaded..

I agree nugget BUT vale and others don't exactly have the best change rooms or pitches...last time i was at the vale there wasn't even any electricity in the change rooms

im glad they didnt 1st Division Sunday is a fantasic competition & certainly something the league should be very proud ov.........

the downs have only just over the last few years started being regulars at the top end of div 1 and werent gardens in div 2 a few years ago!yes, these clubs have got great support , but why would they want to go to feds.NAB joining state league is really just going to give boys who dont make the grade with blue eagles,c/town and metros a game.Gawler allows the ffsa to tap into a more northerlymarket.gawler is growing and anyone in the barossa can now logistically play feds.Playford are average feds so if the downs were to join it may weaken the playford, if parafield were to join it would hurt salisbury(like they need that).with amateurs it isnt just the football , its also a social outlet, feds are different. With 9 div 1 titles in 12 years surely inter should have gone in the eighties, bet their glad they didnt. After seeing Gawler over past 2 years, they still hjave 12 supporters and a handful of helpers which equates to a lot of hard work,

mate weather you love them or hate them you have to give the DOWNS credit they have been at the top ov the game for a number ov years & they certainly would be one ov the better run clubs in the state either amateur or feds! Is'nt that the idea ov the religation system that club who desirve to play at the higher level do....& the clubs that dont desirve to be there ar'nt! I dont get what your trying to say??? PARAFIELD GARDENS are one ov the longest serving 1ST DIV clubs i the league & mate they won the championship the year after they got religated!!! My suggestion to you is that you go to the first game ov the season
DOWNS V GARDENS & then go to N.A.B V GAWLER and see for yourself who should be playing in the ''TOP LEAGUE''(tounge in cheek)..............

the downs or parafield or any of the other top teams could easily play at a higher level. but if you ask most of the players , they want to have a more a kick and go out etc instead of training 4 nights a week and spending 3 months of preseason running around with 15 year olds

too true, the downs certainly are one of the best run clubs in the state no argument, but have only recently got too and remained near the top of div1, and parafield have been up there but so have a number of amateur clubs.reasons that they wouldnt want to would include fencing the pitch, and perimeter fencing.race to pitches.$480 to officia;ls in state league(if they get full compliment),$5000 entry fee to state league, increased fees to all their juniors.i'm sure there are teams who could manage much better and be more financial than gawler, but like i said why bother when you can be a big fish and our standard is better.mate as for taking your suggestion, that is highly unlikely as have got a better game to go to!!

inter and the vale have been in div 1 the longest consecutive years

downs and parafield have been relegated and promoted over the years
( were talking 80's i think ) and i think parafield got promoted to div 1 in 2000 ( and won the league the same year )
downs - not sure when they won promotion ( could be early 90's )

I saw a bit of the internal trial played last Saturday between the 19s and 23s. NAB should re-consider its decision to go full bottle into the FFSA. No disrespect intended but apart from Scalzi, Totani and one or two others, not much quality was on show.

Agreed - it will be interesting to see how their first team go this year.

ive gone down to the club a bit lately. im a local guy, grew up in the area and i have to say that uz r gonna have to eat your words by the end of the year

and if it was the same game that i saw between the 19's and 23's... u can forgive them for not playing at full pace and giving it all as the whether was around 40 degrees and both teams to say the least really knew that there was no point in playing

on the weekend the seniors drew with the one of the so called strongest teams, the reserves outplayed and won 3- 1 against the comets reseves
and the 19's won 2-0 and it could and should have easily been 3 or 4 nil (and the comets are regarded as one of the strongest teams in the 19's reserves and seniors), having said all this, the teams have only really been playing together for a few weeks...i no for one that the 19's and 23's have had serval plaers join in the last 2 weeks.

not bad for a bunch of players that no one else wanted eyy??

NAB have a few players head to Athelstone from top local clubs...and these are GOOD players...guys with talent and likely 1st team potential if they work hard enough...so their quality couldn't be THAT bad...wait and see what happens during the year...
