[quote="LUFC22"]Gardens Vs farm

A's
3:2 - Gardens with a late winner. Didnt see the first half but Farm had more of the ball in the second half. Couple of good effort from distance but no clear-cut chances. Gardens with only the one real chance in the second half and made it count. No doubt there will be some whinging about the ref after this game.... and rightly so.... he was terrible, but he was consistantly terrible both ways. Lots of challenges flying in, some from behind, but both sides were doing it and both were frustarted by the lack of control the ref had on the game.

Sounds like it was a hard thought close game right up until the end, just one question - is the referee totally responsible for these types of tackles players use in a game ? I agree refs have to do their best to control it, but as players / coaches are we part of the problem too, and we have to take some of the responsibility, cant put all the blame on the refs.
I have already seen two players from different clubs cop cruel season ending knee injuries, early in the game ( where the ref hasnt had a chance to assert his authority )from these said " flying in tackles " which could have been avoided ( imo ) with players still going in hard at the ball.

Absolutely agree... players are ultimately the ones responsible for the tackles and everyone has to go to work on monday! What the ref is responsible for, is for punishing those who do the wrong thing, and when he doesnt do that the game tends to get out of hand. Again, i missed the first half so I dont know how many of these "flying tackles" were made early in the game but there were plenty in the second half. Im sure both clubs would agree there were some challenges made, that shouldve recieved bookings, that didnt. It was a tough game played between 2 teams who rightfully think they have a shot at the league and wanted the 3 points.

Quick question: If a player commits a foul throw, can the referee order a re-take? This happened in our first team game on Sunday - was curious to know if the ref was in his rights to do this.

1st half we were fortunate to go in at 2-2, farm def the better side.
2nd half we dominated , 1 chance? Stam, Pearce x 3 , Louie and Prescott should've all scored prior to the winner .....
We won't be bullied by anybody, so when ya talk about chief, tell everyone about the tackles from behind that went unpunished...

Are you sure the referee judged the throw to be a foul throw or did he just order it be re-taken (regardless or not if it was a "foul" throw) for another reason...ie wrong position, ref wasn't ready ?

I think you will find that the ref is within his rights to order a re throw, if he can find a reson ie. he wasn't ready or the player was in the wrong position. Generally if it is a foul throw the ref will call it, not just blow his whistle and ask it to be re taken.

Posted this in the wrong subject yesterday, it has not had enough response it deserves.......

All i can say is "Arnie" how can you allow the Groves second goal today??
When you had your back to the play! Actually now that I think about it - the linesman is a BIG CHEAT...and maybe it was not your poor refereeing that allowed the goal to stand

To paint you the picture this is what happened.

The ball was being passed to the Florina centre back by Florina's keeper to the spot near the half way line where the off side had just been given. The (Green & Yellow) linesman new exactly where that spot was because he had just flagged for the off side and was watching the event unfold unlike the referee. As the ball was kicked by the Keeper and with your back to this Arnie, a Grove player intercepted the ball with Florina players flat footed and Grove players/Coach and supporters all shouting play on, the Grove player played on and slotted the ball into the left hand corner of the goal.

You then consulted the linesman and it became obvious that he could not lie straight in bed and is a cheating barstool. The right decision was for the goal to be disallowed, the linesman knows that, all the players know that, so much for FAIR PLAY.

Don't get me wrong I am not a sore loser and in my opinion the Grove played the better football on the day. Florina created more chances and if not for poor finishing it could of been a different score line. You ask me we I be writing this if it was a different score line?? You frikin bet I would be because that was one of the worst decisions i have seen in a long long time.

Arnie Arnie it is TIME for you to hang up that whistle.........

Why repost this? There will be nothing good over keeping on about it... Move on to the next game. If your club has a serious concern over the display then send an official complaint to the league. It's all you can do, and no one can do anything on here...

Didn't see the game between Westies and the downs last week and there has been very little on the forum. The predictions where that Westies would get flogged and that trimmers would get a brace instead of being goalless. What was the story of the game.

Westies hardly touched the ball. We just couldn't put away our chances.
