And considering we still have to play Jordan at home I feel we are still in the best placed position to take second spot. But going by how shit house we have been in bursts there is really no telling what will happen.

Dont deserve to qualify.
Have looked incredibly ordinary, and its very apparent big changes are needed to fix the national team, changes i dont think will happen if we qualify.
Failure will force the FFA's hand to realise that it has chosen the wrong path in the national team set up

Re: The nightmare scenario for Shockeroos
Or we could take a line out of Monty Python's "Life of Brian" and sing 'Always look on the bright side of Life'.
Imagine the profile of the game go even higher by meeting ye olde nemesis Iran (who are running 3rd in the other Asian Group). 130,000 in Tehran like when we drew away with them 1-1 in '97, then a blockbuster @ the MCG in front of 85,000 also in '97...
This time get past "The Great Satan" Iran, then meet ye other olde enemy, Luis Suarez's Uruguay in 2 more blockbusters that would make the box-office cash registers go ca-ching ca-ching & even make the faarkin' mainstream AFL/NRL media take notice...

Then you would see this side

Franjic Williams Milligan Zullo
Kruse Rogic Bresciano Oar
Cahill Kennedy/Babalj

The number crunchers at FFA headquarters would certainly get pretty excited about that scenario!

Re: The nightmare scenario for Shockeroos
You would hope it won't come down to that possible last nerve-shredding game against Iraq on the 18th June, Liverpool's, er Hamburg's kevinkeegan.kevinkeegan wrote:Lose to Japan and draw with Jordan and its not that easy.adelaidebloke wrote:we will still come second, we are actually in the box seat, games in hand and 2 out of 3 at home!!!!!
If it did, the men & women who run their feifdoms in da FFSA clubs, da SAASL clubs & junior affiliates who train on a Tuesday nights will have a big decision to make: Do they cancel training so their people can watch THEIR country Orstralya live and direct on TV?
Re: The nightmare scenario for Shockeroos
I think the best we can hope for is for it to come down to the last game, unless we beat Japan away and then Jordan at home the last game will need a winCon M wrote:You would hope it won't come down to that possible last nerve-shredding game against Iraq on the 18th June, Liverpool's, er Hamburg's kevinkeegan.kevinkeegan wrote:Lose to Japan and draw with Jordan and its not that easy.adelaidebloke wrote:we will still come second, we are actually in the box seat, games in hand and 2 out of 3 at home!!!!!

Doubtful that most teams will change training, unfortunately football in Australia will always be fractured with far too many self interests

Clubs clearly should make an exception in this case.
The most important game for the nt should be respected by the clubs.

lol, the defence rests it's case, in 20 years time Johnnie will remember that amazing training session he went to in the under 10's, rather than watching us country in a do or die World Cup qualifier, oh the might of the 'Federation'

I think he's right. If it falls on the day that I coach then training will go ahead as planned. I would hope that people (especially kids) would rather play the game than watch the game.kevinkeegan wrote:You are funnyStitch This wrote:Absolute bollocks.kevinkeegan wrote:Clubs clearly should make an exception in this case.

I'm sure if it was England playing you would think differently especially if it was a decider, also a game is very different to training surely modifying training for one night due to a crucial World Cup qualifier isn't too much to ask

trained and played many times when Millwall and England are playing, especially as a kid.

Your post is so ironic where do I start? I would like to think people weren't small minded enough that they put their under 10 training before everything else. I have seen so much over the top, win at all costs coaching from junior coaches its not funny. I remember watching Scotland beat Wales in a World Cup qualifier in the early eighties ask anyone if they would rather have trained that night
Stop being so high and mighty and educate the kids the right way, let them enjoy football and for faux sake let them watch the game
