Seeing as gardens reserves couldnt field a side for sundays game, Westies reserves will go through to the final on round 1s result.

Who is the favourite to join them??

Don't jump the gun too early champ there is plenty of time to play a catch up round during week for group 1 teams. Only fair seeing as group 2 reserves have played 2 games not 1 to qualify after week 3. I'm sure most teams will want to play another trial as most won't be able to play in the finals week.

We had the game organised for this morning at 9:30 with gardens. Not our fault they rang up late friday night and said they couldnt get a team together because they had a function on the night before.

Nil all draw to Westies and Gardens. Good hard fought game and a very good test for westies. Gardens kept rotating the strikers but westies held firm and in truth looked the better chance. Brooksy had the usual good day.

Not quite right there mate. I gave both clubs 2 options one sun morning & one wed night as you would expect both teams chose different days. Gardens chose wed as they had an engagement party at the club sat night & Westies chose sun because they had a training session organised for wed night so really there was no game organised.

You are obviously from Westies & I can see you are keen to play in the reserves final this week but as I said to be fair a catch up game should be played during the week whether its round 2 or 3 which is why I tried to organise a game in the first place.

I can see your dilemma lefty. Running out of time to organise a game by next weekend. Just frustrating that get the first game done then 2 weeks off due to weather. Either way need some game time

I'm confused. How Can Villa and East be in a major final if they finished last in their group?

Bribery! :D
Im pretty sure it will be the 4 bottom teams playing at 1 or 3pm, then the two finals (minor and major) being played at 3 or 5pm.

Intresting detail as Ingle farm game yesterday had a strange looking keeper. Looks like Richard Watkins was spotted in goals for the farm. Apparently saving them from an embarrasing defeat. Check the link

Ignore the headings as the stucture of when teams play has been changed so that Florina can use its own changeroom no that hard really. At least someone knows whats going on

And the funny thing was before the game he was still checking if he was required to see if he could get out of it. Wasn't a good day at all for the farm lads but best to get it out of the system in preseason. There were a number of lads missing however that is no excuse as the side on the park had plenty of quality to get the job done.

Some great saves. Some poor finishing from Florina could have made it a big win.

B's game cut short was a bit disappointing. He said he'd play 40 with no drinks break. No one complained. Lights were on. Oh well.

SALISBURY MAYORS CUP FINALS SUNDAY 3RD MARCH
@ Underdown Park Nangari Drive Salisbury North

Pitch 2 (florina) Playoff 5th/6th - Parafield Gardens vs Ingle Farm (1pm KO)
A new look Gardens team playing good football but not showing it on the score sheet vs Farm who seem to have lost a couple of players from last year but whether the new players can fill those holes remains to be seen. Id expect the flood gates to open for Gardens.

Pitch 1 (inter) Playoff 7th/8th - Salisbury Villa vs Para Hills East (2pm KO)
Both teams relegated in 2012 season but Villa competitive in the first 2 rounds against Gardens & Westies but overwhelmed last week by Pontian vs Easties who have had some close games only going down by 1 goal & I think we will see another close game here.

Pitch 2 (florina) Playoff 3rd/4th - Pontian Eagles vs Salisbury Florina (3pm KO)
Pontian after an ordinary start & low on numbers in round 1 have certainly turned it around with new recruits & scoring 15 goals in 2 weeks & Florina who had a surprising result against Farm last week. There will be a lot of rivalry in this game with Azza against his old club but I'd expect Pontian to be too strong.

Pitch 1 (inter) Playoff 1st/2nd - Para Hills West vs Salisbury Inter (4pm KO)
The major final with both club being undefeated group winners Westies who have been very solid & physical in the minor rounds & have a quality keeper in Brooks vs Inter who I'm sure will want to continue a trend of hosts winning the cup & Cooky having won it twice before but I can see this going to penalties.

Prize money for the event will be $2,000 and distributed as follows:
First - $800; Second $400; Third & Fourth $200ea; Fifth to Eighth $100ea
The winner will also receive a $500 voucher courtesy of JS Sports.

RESERVES FINAL
Pitch 1 (inter) - Para Hills West vs Ingle Farm (12pm KO)

Hopefully the weather will be kind to us & look forward to seeing a great crowd enjoying some quality local football & there will be plenty of food & beverages available (so no need for an easky  ). The mayor Gillian Aldridge with Alex & Bill from SAASL will be in attendance for the presentation immediately after the major final. The Derek Rayner medal will also be awarded for the competitions best player. All the best to everyone involved & thanks for being part of another preseason competition.

First - $800; Second $400; Third & Fourth $200ea; Sixth to Eighth $100ea
