Totally agree mers.

On the other hand, when will players smart up and realise that no coach can guarantee you a starting position?

If the players were any good and were at a certain age they would / should be playing every game anyway, and if they are not, then why not go for more game time. The boy/parents want out anyway or they wouldn't go. Ask why they want to leave, not why someone else offers a carrot to get them.

Interesting. So why did you and your club talk to our our registered player LD and state that he will be a starting reserves player if he joined your club. You will deny it but that is the fact.

And then two weeks before the season commences you approach SL from our club and do the same thing. Even though he is registered with us. Double standards.

So you know what was said to these two players??? If they were told they would be in the starting 11 then lets squash those rumours right now. What was said that they are not guaranteed starting 11 and there is no way as a coach you can guarantee a player starting 11 spot.. Btw none of these players were poached so check your facts.

Maybe everyone doesn't adore AUFC

Last time I checked it's not an AUFC supporters only forum

So no need to tell them to 'F OFF'

who gives a flying toss!!!!

No CLUB / COACH walks player and parents into club rooms with loaded shotgun to heads demanding they join their club.

If the player wants to stay nothing will move them, if they want to leave, then they will leave. Stop looking to blame, look at your own club / coach / team, there holds the answers.

+1

Too easy to blame someone else for your own failings.

It's not surprising that the seniors show no club loyalty when they seem to have started early as kids, more and more kids seem to be club hopping from season to season and sometimes even mid season.

sometimes its not even the players fault its the parents
i have seen this many times.
lets say your 15 years old and you move to the 17s the year after at a well estasblished club and then a second rate team offers you an u18 position
guranteed a spot and play every game is this child old enough to make such a decission.
this is where the parent must step in and look at his future and not short term

Do you think kids club hop sometimes for the reason that the club itself does not make them feel welcome? If you are not the right nationality they don't want to get to know you or your son they just want you to play - which don't get me wrong is a good thing sometimes. So club committees need to let younger men on the board with new and bright ideas instead of living in the 70's.

we dont have the problem with nationality at our club but some parents can make things very hard.
i think thier should a good blend of committee members young and old to cater for both very important

A true coach can develop any squad. A coach who needs to raid another club or his old club for his own glory is just trying to achieve what they never could. Success. It is wrong and the FFSA will need to stop this happening in the future for the survival of our great game. Kids can be easily mislead and should look up to their coaches as mentors so if a coach tells a player that they should follow him more times than not the child will listen. THIS MUST BE STOPPED

This can only be driven by jealousy. If a kid (admittedly, advised by their parents who pay the fees) wants to follow a certain coach, what's the problem? Just means an open spot for another kid to take their place.

Snoopy if your child is with a true coach, what's the issue? can't true coaches develop any squad? Coaches don't take players, they offer an option, the child/parents then look at these options and decide. In some cases they come over for a look, and go back because it didn't work, or they don't like the set up, and in other cases they stay. It happens at every club, every year, in every age. I think if the coach you obviously have an issue with was bringing players to your club/team you could care less about the club from which they came, but if they are leaving, you now must carry on and look to blame someone.

At the end of the day players will eventually be offered a deal somewhere, and if one club offers 20$ a game, and another down the road offers 50$, they will go, like all the players before them and the ones coming after them, it's just how the game is and players start to think this leading into seniors and sometimes they want to get in a bigger club while they can.

Kids club hop - my boys came from an e&d club (at that club for 7 years) and this is their 5th year at their one and only Fed club. Each year the phone calls happen and even as late as last week, we received a phone call. Bottom line, sometimes they arent happy with decisions but they are immovable and absolutely will not be going to any other club until their current club no longer wants them. Loyalty, can be a great thing if its a two way street!
