I remember when Henderson was the next big thing. I also remember when Carroll had "potential".

Liverpool fans are idiots.

Oh, Bale's fantastic... diving or no diving!

I agree, but those Spanish players don't tend to have the 'mental determination of an fig leaf'
I didn't comment on that.

back on topic, Gareth picked up his 4th caution for simulation.
if he gets his 5th for diving before January, he could be the first ever player suspended for diving.

And that wasn't even a dive. It's hard to have sympathy for serial divers though, you've got yourself that name by conning referees and this is the price you pay.

I wonder how many Arsenal fans will be so quick to condemn Carzorla for his blatant dive. No contact whatsoever.

No doubt whatsoever that this is what happens when they are allowed to get away with it. The fa needs to take a stance on this craps as soon as possible. We see more dives than what we do goals in a game these days.

There needs to be retrospective punishment for these things, also the punishment should fit the crime. You can only get a yellow for diving but you can get a red for a player diving against you.

It pains me to say it, but I agree with you

In principle, I would have no problem whatsoever with deliberate attempts to deceive the ref attracting a 3 match retrospective ban. However, the problem would be, what actually constitutes a dive? What level of contact is enough? Who actually will make the decisions? Obviously, Cazorla's was zero contact and is easy to categorise, but plenty of others are not so obvious.

Bale booked for simulation again when there was clearly contact by Gardner's knee. Martin Atkinson must be one of the most anti Spurs referees ever - he is fucking useless. Books Dembele for pulling back, which was fair enough, but ignores Colback climbing all over Lennon. Let's have some frickin' consistency.

Limited sympathy for Bale though, he's the architect of his own misfortune.

Bale could have stayed on his feet and had a shot. Silly to have gone down with the slightest of touches.

I'll remind you of that next time Luis falls over in the box

I've always thought that with regards to players who punch the ball in the net. They get a yellow if caught but a defender who does the same thing to stop a goal gets red.

Yeah, Nice One Cyril. I'm an Arsenal supporter and I did hold my breath expecting a retrospective suspension....

But the standing BINDING I.F.A.B Law Board's ruling is post-match video review for simulation can't be used

I wonder if the spuds fans and Bale himself actually watched how Walcott chose to stay on his feet rather than fall in the box, after he was fouled and managed to reap his reward by finding the net.

And then Bale comes out crying after receiving his 5th yellow for diving.

To be honest, I was impressed that Walnut did that and I wish others would do the same. The problem is though, if Walnut fails to score, will the referee pull the play back and give the penalty (which it definitely should have been)?

That's the issue for me, the referees need to give pens when they're there. Defenders have been getting away with foul play for too long.

And the other point is, the advantage rule in football is pathetic. Do referees know what the word means? Way too often they play advantage simply because you maintain possession - it's not an advantage at all, or they fail to play advantage when you've actually got a decent break.

Added to that, there should be an instruction to count to ten after giving advantage and assess whether there actually was any, then either carry on playing or pull the play back. Too often, they wave their arms for advantage, none is gained, yet they won't pull play back because they say you had the advantage.

Surely this is the best Tottenham have been for a long time, one more season in the CL for Bale and i think Tottenham make enough to buy a few more great players.

AVB generally makes good signings.

With hindsight Litmanen, do you wish AVB was still at Chelsea in his second season now offering some stability even though you won the CL with Di Matteo?

would argue peak value was when he was 20/21 and smashed Inter 3 seasons ago in the UCL....but Spurs are building something and have a feeling will be in the mix next season. this season it's a matter of clinging on to Third/Fourth after the 'disappointment' of last year (everyone forgets that they finished Fourth!) and obtaining that UCL football.
