Why is it being played in Spain? Strange?

I just hope we see a similar squad to that we saw in Korea.

Well Sarota won't be there. Just heard he's out for 9 months with an ACL injury.

Not a bad squad. Chris Herd must be either refusing to play for the Socceroos or Holger is being a bitch like Pim was to Sasa.

lol Archie is finally playing regularly and now he can't get a game!

"Let go" by his Middle East club. What now for Luca$ Neill?

ps, why is he even there for this friendly if he's stupidly suspended for the next World Cup qualifier anyway?

The FFA could have over-ruled the German holster-man and insisted one more potential young centre-back be brought into the training camp to get experience from this FRIENDLY

Every faaaarken time some :clown: whinges about Herd missing out and every faaaarken time two minutes checking would show up that he's injured.

Well the bloke is one of 5 players the country has playing in the EPL. Obviously he's quality how he hasn't played 10 times for us already highlights how completely lacking we are in the scouting department.

Nice deflection, but not enough to keep the ball out of the net.
He received his first call-up to the Australia senior squad in November 2011, when he was selected for the World Cup Qualification matches against Oman and Thailand,[28] but had to withdraw from the squad because of injury. He was called-up again in August 2012, but was forced to withdraw from the squad due to a quadriceps strain.
See a pattern emerging here

You lot should look at Shane Lowry. Quality defender! Saw him play twice recently and played well both games.

As for the location - pretty sure reading and fulham have under soil heating so it wouldn't be frozen. Millwall certainly do, we might let you use that ground.

I think it's more likely that the English immigrantion decided there's already too many aussies and romanians there so didn't want to encourage any others.

Why would we bother? We've got Neill playing for No One FC.

Aw, that's awful Mr Millwall. Are you insinuating our Aussie skips would over-stay their visas in Earle's Court & the Romanians would do similar and work hard in those vacant London hospitality jobs that otherwise only Poles want to work in?

aussies in London overstaying their visas - that would never happen would it.

Romanians working  - never seen one work, never seen a pole in a hospitality job either. Well I have one but he was there well before they joined the eu and the mass migration.

At least they are working for their coin, rather in kneeling on the roadside holding a paper cup.

Crowd is a bit light-on. Maybe the trucks at the border got searched this time...

Finished up 3-2. Fair result our first goal was a lucky penalty and FLAKES!!!! scored the second. Kruse made a few good runs but except for about 20 mins we were 2nd best all night. Played a very AUFC style struggling to make more then 4 passes in a row.
For Australia 2014 will be the year of the ass raping if we make the World Cup.

Yeah, but how disorganized was our defensive wall? Thought it was in the coaching manual to place the tallest players on the edges of the wall and insist on players not flinching or turning away when the free-kick is struck. Protecting the face and balls with clenched fists means they won't flinch or turn away if the free is struck ferociously.

All in all a good hit-out in this trial match, although the Holsterman should have taken Neill off far earlier.

Some good signs, some worrying ones. I can see Australia sneaking into Brazil, but they will go out in straight sets and cop at least one caning as I imagine they'll get in a tough group. Persist with some of the younger ones though, as the long term looks potentially brighter than just the next year or two. Will Holger be afforded the patience from FFA though. Time will tell.

you lot need to realise that you're not very good. Certain coaches like hiidink and venables got you batting well above your average.

Absolutely. But the beef I have isn't our results its the inept style of play we serve up coupled with the fact he is relying on the old generation still and until lately ignoring the next generation coming thru.

In 2006 though we had some of the best players of our time going around. Cahill, Viduka, Kewell, Neill etc were at their peak. We've not had that sort of quality replaced, hense the reason most of these guys are still playing.
