Class statement by Oldham regarding the fan-racism incident during the FA Cup match. I can't be bothered finding and linking it, but it was classy.

Not only that, but your mob gave us a good run for our money at Anfield. Fair play.

Actually, here it is. Just stumbled across it again.

"The Chairman and Directors of Oldham Athletic Football Club would like to thank Liverpool Football Club and officers of the Merseyside Police for their concerns and painstaking efforts in investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident involving Tom Adeyemi.

"Excellent communication has been maintained and the Club and player have been notified of every detail during the progress of the investigation. The professional standards applied throughout have been praiseworthy.

"The Club would also like to thank the numerous fans from Liverpool and Oldham, and also those from around the country, who have sent letters of support to Tom.

"This type of incident is contained within a minority and should not deflect from a superb match that was enjoyed by both sets of Club officials and fans.

"We wish Liverpool every success in the next round of the Cup."

Cheers bow ties! :D
And fuck was I bouncing and jumping when we went ahead... For a bloody minute! Thought we were unlucky to be down at half time, judging only from radio commentary, but pools quality obviously shone through in the end. Bellamy and Shelvey seemed to be a hell of a handful, and having Gerrard in the side meant it was always going to be impossible to park the bus for an hour.

Yeah the scoreline really didn't reflect the game. We pushed on in the second half, but you didn't deserve to go into the interval 2-1 down. Really nice goal from your lad too.

A mate of mine was seated really close to where the incident occurred as well and he told me exactly what happened. Shame it had to overshadow what was a good game...And we really didn't need that to happen after recent events.

My ol boy went, he said it was a good performance, and he never says that!
I was happy with the numbers we took too, been making jokes that we take 100 times more to Anfield than Wigan do.

modbury jets would probably take more to an away game than wigan. 99 they only took 7,000 to a wembley cup final.

As for this incident. I was shocked, why did he react like that. He basically showed that away fans can get to him. He might as well run round with a target on his back.

That the player should not have reacted like that, Now he has a target on his back??!! The poor bloke has only just turned 20, sometimes it is hard to keep emotions under control....

Yeah but how silly is it getting that riled up over words. You can bet your ass that other footballers have heard a lot worse than he got from that guy in the crowd. He's probably going to cop it a lot more now that he's reacted so badly to it as well.

He should've done an Eric and no cunt would say boo.
My first thought was well, he can't be a local lad if he aint been called a black cunt before.
I also wondered if he would have done the same if we'd stayed 1-0 up. Probably not. I think, to some extent, players know how much of a raucus they can cause and the frenzy they can whip up afterwards. The game had just slipped away to 3-1 and Liverpool on top. Maybe a time wasting tactic. Maybe trying to stop Liverpool's flow, but more likely, the only kind of victory the young lad was going to get at Anfield on the day.
Shame though, because it's taken away the opportunity for his team to get a bit of credit for the way they played, especially in the first half, with papers full of that bloke said this to some footballer instead.

Couldn't agree more. And it would have been gold to see him pull a Cantona.

Sunday night here we go again! :D
Looking forward to this. Holding fuck all hope for a win, but will enjoy the rare event of being able to see the lads live on TV.
Hopefully the sheer embarrassment of the world seeing the biggest shambles of a ground in the Football League will make Corney and Co. pull their fingers out of their arses and rebuild the ruin!
My money: 1-0 to the good guys, Baxter with a 30 yard free kick. 8)

If we took out 2 liverpool supporters from this forum (3 if we include one who doesn't post that often) then I reckon Rhino's been to more oldham games in a week than you lot have been to liverpool games ever.
