But he was a gamble worth taking.
Didn’t make sense to get him match-fit after a long-injury lay-off and not have an agreed deal locked in.
Effectively pay to get him fit and shop-window him for Real, not a good deal.
Another stupid deal by the LFC scouts/Manager/hierarchy etc

I just can't understand why the owners are continuing to let this happen. It's their money that's been pissed away :?

Not to sound preachy but maybe Liverpool need to review their transfer policy

Many clubs and I'll mention Celtic but unknown players who turn into great players and are then sold on or love the club and stay for an extended time

Might be time to find some hidden gems

Akward is not having the league wrapped up by now without Rangers.
Hence my point. Low risk signings. If you spend big and it blows up, big deal are Inverness or Dundee going to take your CL place?

no rangers has made the league a lot better actually, look at inverness, second, teams are taking on celtic and getting points off of us, knowing there is a european spot up for grabs

yes celtic have made some very good buys of unknown players but if they fail the cluib cops the fans abuse just like at any club, wether he cost 5 mil or 500k

What rubbish. You're 10 or so points clear, under no pressure whatsoever, so you can afford to rest players when it suits. Face it, Celtic might be EPL standard, but the rest are Div1.

yeah and losing these games has made the fans uneasy and given teams belief that they can knock us off, and celtic under no pressure?   we are always under pressure, every result is scrutinised, if we win ugly people get going

If they fail, the difference is you finish top by 5 points as opposed to 25 points. End result the same.

When Liverpool buy a dud(s), it's the difference between 3rd/4th and 7th/8th. Or in financial terms, perhaps 50m if you factor in CL, sponsorship bonuses and future sponsors, TV divy up, league place prizemoney, merchendising etc.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says Luis Suarez's admission of diving is "unacceptable" and he will be dealt with "internally" by the club.
Suarez is a great player but must be incredibly dim. He keeps on admitting to stuff. Just STFU.

Where does Rodgers he say that?

The thing with Liverpool and media is the media know they can twist and turn stories as the club have no backbone and bend over at cop it. Even Suarez' original interview in Spanish was spun out of context. He didn't admit to anything apart from yes it was a dive. Which we all knew anyway.

The English press are drowning in their own sh*t.
Rodgers said: "I've seen the comments and I think it is wrong. Certainly from our perspective it is unacceptable. It is not something we advocate here. Our ethics are correct.

"I've spoken to Luis and he is totally understanding, and knows where I'm coming from as manager of the club. This is a big club and whatever people do say goes around the world, and what was said was wrong and not acceptable - he takes that and we move on. There is no one bigger than the club or the club's image.

"The comments, from our point of view as a club, are not what we would want to hear. This is something which was obviously wrong and is not something we associate with as a club of this standing.

"You normally find players, when their careers are finished, admit to all these kind of things – he just happened to be honest in the middle of his career... My main concern is the team. As long as it doesn't affect our chances – we've only had one penalty this year anyway – but as long as it doesn't damage our prospects in the future that is the most important issue.

"Anything that is detrimental towards that is something I don't take too lightly and if that is something I think affects it, that [his talk with Suárez] was a clear message...

"He is a real topic of conversation, football and media-wise, and as a manager my responsibility and leadership I have to make comment when I have to... It has been quite nice most of this season when it [speculation and criticism] hasn't been about.

"He is tough-minded and, irrespective of what is out there, media-wise he gets on with his job. On the football side there are no complaints. I work with Luis every day so I know the character he is. I know he is a good man who wants to do the best for the club."

Where does Rodgers say what? Your own quote has him saying it was "unacceptable". It was on the BBC so I assume it's mostly true.

Not really the point though, plenty of players dive and bend the rules, but most simply shut up or deny it. To come out and publicly admit to it, he must be badly advised or intellectually challenged.
