England could win World Cup.

Post by Aadil »

England boss Roy Hodgson claims it is not "impossible" for the country to win the World Cup in Brazil in 2014.
Hodgson pointed to Chelsea's against-the-odds Champions League triumph last season, when they knocked out Barcelona and then beat Bayern Munich on penalties, as evidence that the fancied sides can be beaten.

They could. Looking forward to Hawkesy v Bob Saget round two.

They'll need to wait until some of the children of the world class foreign footballers born in England develop into 'chips off the old block".

Just because you're not patriotic, doesn't mean others can't be. The 1966 World Cup was won by England, we are English therefore WE won the world cup.

As for the article, what a load of rubbish. Anyone COULD win the world cup.

In 2066. Has a certain occasion about it - 100 years after the 1966 win and all that. (I think I counted right - 2014 in Brazil, 2018 in racist Russia, 2022 in bloody 48-degrees Qatar, 2026, 2030......2066).

But seriously, England has the passion and tradition to win it again.

They've just got to cut their EPL down to 18 teams (down from 20), & get rid of that minor league cup thingy so their players are not exhausted by the time a month-long World Cup tournament starts.

Their juniors will get better & better as more & more advances are made to all-weather pitches. As Simon Hill said, it's hard to develop a Spain or Barcelona-style game on the mud-heaps that are the school & lower-level pitches in rainy ol' England.

NO WAY AND NO WAY!!

Sick of foreigners trying to change our game. If they don't like it they can fuck off and not play in our league. They'll be asking for a winter break nexts. CUNTS THE LOT OF THEM!

Makes me laugh when professional sportsmen clam they're tired. Try working 50 hour weeks to earn a living like those in the real world.

GWAE, were the England boys tired in South Africa or weren't they? What about that lack-lustre game against Algeria?

Something has to be done so they don't arrive at a World Cup tournament stuffed after an over-long gruelling domestic season. Reduce the league by just two clubs.

And what is the use of the league cup or whatever they call it now?

Their juniors will get better & better as more & more developments are created to all-weather pitch. As Simon Mountain said, it's difficult to create a The country or Barcelona-style activity on the mud-heaps that are the university & lower-level pitch in stormy ol' Britain.

Claiming ownership on a worldwide game is laughable. Winter breaks are only required if your pitch turns into permafrost. No point in having it in the UK.

Agreed with your last point.

Where it's played is irrelevant. Like almost all sports, the game was invented in England.

Don't they have winter breaks in spain and italy, no frozen pitches there just lazy footballers.
