Re: Victory vs Lady Reds
you serious??? 13 minutes!
And to think Melbourne have lost fishlock and we are full strength.
I hope the girls can pick themselves up and fight back with some pride, but to be destroyed after 13 mins means something seriously wrong.

Why would they another coach ? They will be playing finals ( dark horses ) why would they want a coach whose team will be second to bottom ? as an assistant maybe.

Re: Victory vs Lady Reds
Mike mulvey who put this victory side together just recently won the A league job for Brisbane men, so I'm guessing whoever is coaching victory girls today is in a caretaker mode, hence the position may be open. Would be a nice job to get, inheriting a talented side on the up.Caretaker Coach wrote:Why would they another coach ? It was but two seasons ago Victory were struggling in W league. It shows what can be done in 12 months or less in turning things around.

Re: Victory vs Lady Reds
... Whatever tactical changes that were talked about pre-game proved to be an unmitigated disaster, with the team 3 nil down after 13 minutes and the game effectively over.Armageddon wrote:Could the last person at the Lady Reds please turn off the lights !
Victory then went into cruise control.
No doubt we will hear the usual smoke and mirrors response of how we 'dominated' the last 20 mins, scoring and hitting the post, all the time victory 4 nil up, rotating their full bench and thinking of next week.
Minus 27 goal difference after 11 games is simply not acceptable at this level.

I agree it would be a good gig, that is why I am thinking they will go with someone local, ( who would be queing up for the job ) who knows and understands the players, and the culture over there, and wont really need to change much, the foundation has been laid.scipio africanus wrote:Mike mulvey who put this victory side together just recently won the A league job for Brisbane men, so I'm guessing whoever is coaching victory girls today is in a caretaker mode, hence the position may be open. With fishlock, victory are genuine title contenders, with the best young keeper going around, quality Aussie players and impressive internationals.Caretaker Coach wrote:I agree it would be a good gig, that is why I am thinking they will go with someone local, ( who would be queing up for the job ) who knows and understands the players, and the culture over there, and wont really need to change much, the foundation has been laid.scipio africanus wrote:Mike mulvey who put this victory side together just recently won the A league job for Brisbane men, so I'm guessing whoever is coaching victory girls today is in a caretaker mode, hence the position may be open. Alot of credit to mulvey who brought this team together and who brought in an entertaining 3-5-2, highlighting there are more ways to 'skin a cat' than a mandated system. Mulvey has since been rewarded with a A league gig, which is a massive jump.
I agree with you that there should be plenty of quality locals lining up for the job.
If the rumour is true and DE has got the job, then the next lady reds appointment is critical, as we need someone to lead a revolution to save the game at all levels. I'm talking here about alot more than just coaching credentials. With all respect to the local premier league coaches, I would like to see someone like richie alagich, Serg melta or from left field, Rick Cerracchio take the job with premier league coaches brought in as assistants, particularly ex female players as I think their continued involvement after they retire is important to the long term success of women's football. Rick C just won the men's super league double, is a former NSL player and a great leader and communicator who currently isn't coaching.

Re: Victory vs Lady Reds
DE has equalled this season the total number of wins MB achieved in 3 seasons!!
Oh and for all the doubters, I'm pretty sure DE will still be here next season! He led a meeting with clubs a few weeks back and outlined ideas to move forward, all working together!
I for one hope he does stay as he knows how to coach female players and he is improving the way we play the game and he has done it with little or no financial investment and a very young side! Given more support I'm sure The Lady Reds can continue to improve and get more wins on the board.

Sorry QQ, but there is little to doubt for the 'doubters'. The facts speak for themselves.QuantoQuesta wrote:DE has equalled this season the total number of wins MB achieved in 3 seasons!!

We have gone from rock bottom to mediocre by winning a single extra game, and yet its cause for some sort of vindication, when we sit one point off dead last with an appalling negative goal difference and 9 comprehensive defeats?????
Seriously, who are you kidding?? You do realise what would have happened to the coach in the A League with these so called 'acheivemements' this season?
At the same time, we have lost more senior clubs in the last 12 months than probably the last ten years combined, but hey the game has never looked better right, because we won ONE extra game this year and got thumped in the rest???
In all honesty, if DE does stay, I look forward to his ideas on 'moving forward together', cause I'm the first to admit that he cannot he held to account for the mistakes of past years. But bit surprised though, that if the solutions to the problems are known, why its taken this long, and the loss of clubs, players, and disasters on the pitch for them to be shared in the coming weeks and months.
For the sake of the game, I can only hope that the ideas you refer to, are the end of the demise and the start of a proper rebuild. Until then, I can only judge on the facts

MB record was abysmal yet you are applauding nearly equalling!!!
08/09 Lady Reds had 7 points (and that was in 10 games not the 12 of this season) so DE not achieved that yet!
Lets keep the drinks on ice Lady Reds & DE are 1 point away from bottom again.
If Newcastle draw and Adelaide lose then back to bottom!
Even if they win - 3 wins for a season is still appalling especially considering the complete control of the setup, preseason, selection and structure (or lack of structure) for the team.
As for this game against Melbourne tactically smashed again - 3 goals down in 13 minutes.
Looking forward to watching the game this week to see if the blind obsession of playing out from the back has returned or not.
“He led a meeting with clubs a few weeks back and outlined ideas to move forward, all working together! … “led a meeting” not quite the version I heard on how that meeting went
Maybe check with some others first on that front.
As for all working together…can but hope!

Care to comment now on leading a 'meeting with clubs a few weeks back and outlined ideas to move forward, all working together'????QuantoQuesta wrote:DE has equalled this season the total number of wins MB achieved in 3 seasons!!
