Embarrassed or nervous about what he's taken on?
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil!
Re: PARAFIELD GARDENS - Senior Coach 2013
If I was embarrassed or nervous then I wouldn't accept any position, at any level.....
That was a stupid comment to make.

Re: PARAFIELD GARDENS - Senior Coach 2013
Yeah how embarrassing, who'd want to coach the second most successful club in the league. Imagine the humiliation in winning yet another league title - you'd have to be a mug.Los Del Eague wrote:Embarrassed or nervous about what he's taken on?

You being the coach or the 3 that turned the job down?
You've admitted you're the coach and I know the other 3 personally!
Are they good enough facts?

Re: PARAFIELD GARDENS - Senior Coach 2013
So what are you saying Los - Gardens got the short straw here? There were four in the mix who were initially interviewed and subsequently rated 1 to 4, the other three (all better options) turned it down so DG was the last mug standing? No chance that Gardens approached DG early in the piece and was told that he was unable to commit at that stage, so they continued the search, couldn't appoint a suitable alternative, re-approached Mr Gray who by then had time to think it through and decided to accept the challenge?
If that makes him a fourth rate candidate in your books then more fool you.
Don't know DG personally but everyone I have spoken to tells me he is out of the top draw and a fantasic appointment. You are the only detractor I've heard so far, so please enlighten us all, put some names to all these numbers you keep banging on about. Let see some names so we can all see for ourselves whether in fact we have appointed your fourth rated mug.
It would be just nice to know who they all are, so we can remind them of their decision after we play them next year.

A few photos of Duane Gray from 21 years ago modelling the worlds briefest football shorts.
Don't really know Duane personally, but had the honour of meeting his father Bill at the Downs in 1984 (from memory), great bloke to talk to and get ideas from.
I think Duane and John McCormack will bring a renewed energy to Gardens.....beware !

Embarrassed or nervous about what he's taken on...??
This statement questions his credentials ..!!! To say he is embarrassed is bad enough ..!
But to say he is nervous is to question his ability to coach a team regardless of who is in it ..!!
I'm sure now looking back at your blatantly stupid remark ... You know he would be confident it what he has taken , otherwise he would have said no ...!!

I was a fair question, took a fair few days to announce it, I just wondered why!
Any idiot can look at a quote and read it a number of ways depending on their mental state of mind, as you have proved.
Clutching at straws once again, something that comes naturally down at the gardens I see.

Re: PARAFIELD GARDENS - Senior Coach 2013
Los, one poster from Gardens used this forum as a big laugh and came on here slinging the shite and generally enjoyed winding everyone up. Everyone else gives and takes banter on here as does 90% of all other posters, yourself included. That particular person has since got bored and moved on so it's back to normal service. If your going to sling some banter our way expect some back. No harm done to anyone it's all a bit of a laugh. The end result is some interesting games during the year followed by a few drinks afterwards. All I'm trying to say is don't tar everyone from Gardens with the same brush.Los Del Eague wrote:Where did I say he was a mug?You Too wrote:So what are you saying Los - Gardens got the short straw here? Re: PARAFIELD GARDENS - Senior Coach 2013
The facts are as follows people;
Steve Cook decided not to continue on with the Gardens in 2013 & we wished him all the best. We then advertised for the position & had 10 people express interest. Of those people we decided who would best suit our club & shortlisted 2 people who we actually interviewed both very capable & respectable candidates & either could have been appointed but no decision had been made either way.
Following that we made contact with Duane Gray & he expressed some interest in coaching seniors again. From that point (7 weeks) there had been many discussions with Duane (& John) about coaching the Gardens. Thankfully we were able to come to an agreement prior to our players xmas party on the 21st Dec and an annoucement was made to the players.
The club at all times wanted to find a coach that would embrace our club culture & be part of the clubs future success. Both the club & the playing group are very excited about having 2 fantastic coaches & soccer people in Duane Gray & John McCormack being part of the Gardens in 2013.
In saying all that it wasnt about 1 or 2 people leaving the club & who the last main standing or who wanted to join a club with asbestos floor tiles in the interviews but what was the best for the Gardens & we have that in Duane & John.
GO U GARDENS!!!
