Re: Jenna McCormick
Fantastic, congratulations Jenna and good luck!!
Jenna and a team mate need some help -
'McCormick has one more hurdle to jump to make the flight to Brazil; she must raise the $10,000 fee as the trip is not funded by either the sport's governing body nor state and federal governments.' There's a fund raiser, see below.

Not only has the Adelaide University midfielder been selected in Adelaide United's women's squad for this year's W-League but also is set to represent Australia in the new year.
The Walford Anglican School for Girls boarder is one of three SA players to be selected for the Australian School Girls team to tour South America in August.
Uni teammate Emily Condon, of Port Pirie, and Mary McKillop student Monique Varricchio have also been selected.
The call-up for McCormick comes after spending two seasons in the shadow squad - a reserves side which does not travel.
But McCormick has one more hurdle to jump to make the flight to Brazil; she must raise the $10,000 fee as the trip is not funded by either the sport's governing body nor state and federal governments.
"I've been really fortunate so far that my club Adelaide University and a lot of (soccer) clubs back home have donated some money to get me there," McCormick says.
"It's going to be a great experience to play in another country"
For McCormick, 2012 has been a breakout year.
Last year she was cut from the Lady Reds extended squad, which was trimmed from 30 to 20 before the season.
It was a bitter pill to swallow after years of dominating junior competitions.
"That hit me pretty hard," she says.
"I had never really experienced failure before and I worked hard to overcome that lack of confidence.
"The coaches at Adelaide University have been great and I've been able to change my whole mindset."
Adelaide University is holding a fundraising for McCormick and Uni teammate Emily Condon on Sunday, November 10, from 8.30am.
The day starts with a 10km walk starting from Grange jetty at 8.30am before a barbecue and games on the beach before heading to the Lady Reds match with Brisbane Roar at Hindmarsh Stadium, which kicks-off at 2pm.

Good luck and well done!
Isn't the FFSA/FFA paying for this? I thought they were all about elite players... I'm shocked that you have to come up with your own money to represent Australia...

Re: Jenna McCormick
ET - this is the Australian Schoolgirls team, not an FFA national team. To my knowledge FFA have only ever funded their own squads.
Well done to Jenna and the others girls selected though!

Not to mention the other 3 SA girls who were selected in the Shadow squad and very unlucky not to make the tour after a very good tournamentpvfc wrote:ET - this is the Australian Schoolgirls team, not an FFA national team. To my knowledge FFA have only ever funded their own squads.

Re: Jenna McCormick
Thanks to those who have shown their support joining us for the Walkathon, sponsoring or donating! Raffle going now! Thanks esp to Adl Uni for organizing!
Re: Jenna McCormick
Why would any body donate to the cost when the whole family is going for a holiday. if the girl couldn't afford to be going then fair enough help out but when Mom and Dad and brother are going as well, that must raise an eyebrow. So basically lets give the family spending money. There are more worthy Causes. Keep your money

Re: Jenna McCormick
How rude... You have no idea of our financial circumstances or what we have sacrificed, let alone the debt we will be in! 5 years of travelling to and from Adl to mt g plus two years of boarding school for her to follow her dreams! Did you donate any global gifts to any poverty stricken areas in the world this Christmas?? well we did and gave no Christmas presents in this house this year! What about our other daughter whom we can't afford to bring along? What about my father in a nursing home that costs more than his pension! Get a grip and don't be critical without your facts! No one has been forced to donate! That was a very personal and uncalled for attack!Xanto wrote:Why would any body donate to the cost when the whole family is going for a holiday. if the girl couldn't afford to be going then fair enough help out but when Mom and Dad and brother are going as well, that must raise an eyebrow.
