Saturday 24 November 2012
Burton Park, Adelaide
Local kick-off: 2pm
Referee: Renee Silvester
After a promising start to the season, Adelaide United have started to creak in recent weeks having lost four on the trot and conceding 13 goals in their five outings to date.
They will be relived to be facing a Sydney FC weakened by the absence of some of their big names, though the Sky Blues side still possesses significant quality and experience.
Adelaide’s forward line of Racheal Quigley, Sarah McLaughlin and Marijana Rajcic are capable of damaging any defence on their day, and coach Dave Edmondson will be wanting his attackers to test a relatively youthful Sky Blues defence.
Despite the absence of four key players on Matildas duty, Sydney FC are reinforced for their visit to Adelaide by the timely return of Ellyse Perry from a hamstring strain.
Striker Brittany Whitfield is back from injury, while last week saw the introduction of Doncaster Belles attacker Lillie Fenlon-Billson, plus the welcome return of redoubtable midfielder Kylie Ledbrook.
On the back of consecutive defeats, anything other than three points will be unthinkable for a Sydney side with high expectations.
