The way both teams were playing and conceding goals it certainly looked like Easties just edged the Downs! Great fun game in great spirits.

Can Inter win it this Sunday?

Two best teams this year Inter and Vale and even if the rest of us do miss out it'll be a cracker between them at Hindmarsh, some outstanding players on the park.

TTG 2 - 1 Jets.

Our lads a bit disappointed to lose after scoring first, but credit to Gully for persisting, and although we felt a draw would be fair, in hindsight, Gully probably had the better share of chances, but both teams played in patches, and dominated periods of the game.
Credit also to the ref, ( his second game ever), whilst a few minor incidents were missed and both teams seemed to be complaining to him at times, you could hardly call it cheating and I've seen plenty worse, and with a little bit of niggle in the game, it wouldn't be an easy job.
Speaking to the players, it's obvious they are determined to lose the dodgy ref stigma, and have done something about it, so hats off to them, at least they haven't sat on their hands.
What happened with the top 2?

Modbury OBs 1 v Downs 2

Good friendly and competitive game well refereed by a very impressive young fella.
Modbury's dangerous striker only made one of his chances count and Downs got more chances as the game progressed as they had some fresher legs on the bench.

would like to congratulate Salisbury Inter on winning the Championship, a great effort in their 1st year, undefeated in 20 games. :D
we all had a real good time, however we feel the forfeits towards the end of the year by both Modbury teams and especially the Gully was poor form! they were all home games for us and we had the decorum to travel to you guys one would expect the same in return.
anyway we are looking forward to taking on the Vale at Hindmarsh in the cup. It should be a cracker, the Vale are quality opposition! it will be like the games 10 years ago in Div 1 when both teams were a force, hell the teams are basically made up of the same players from back then, just a lot fatter & slower....... either way the beers and antics after should be fun, especially as Monday is a public holiday..... :P

I only know of one game that the real Modbury Jets (Modbury Jets AFC) forfeited this season and I thought that was our home game.

Pitch was attrocious, opposition offered to switch to their ground - we declined.

Well that was what I was told!

sorry my mistake, i remebered we offered our pitch, (as we were keen to have a kick) It got really frustrating for us, we got to play one game in five weeks. and then on sunday we moved heaven and earth to cater for the Gully so we could play at a reasonable time as they rejected to play at 9.30 am (i can't blame them either) so the club re structured only then to be told (7pm saturday) they will forfeit due to the fact they only had 4 players  when we played them at TTG we counted 18 in the squad that day and that was'nt including their Ref :clown: !!

Congratulations to Inter on the win certainly, along with the Vale, a very talented side who I know made their oppositions play better football too. They played 35s hard and in the spirit of the league itself. Good luck to both teams for the showpiece day.

Sorry to dissapoint you peanut but itwas not 7pm Saturday. We were never going to have enough players available to play Sunday no matter the KO time. You were told we would not be playing at your first request for the early KO during the week, then i was contacted by our club contact on Friday asking if we could do a later KO which as i mentioned earlier was also not possible. Whoever posted on this site that it was agreed was incorrect and i had alot of sms from our players to make sure I had told ypou guys we were not playing. I then checked with our club contact early Saturday that he had let you guys know which he had. I can understand being pissed off at the lack of a game but pull your bitching heads in and get your facts straight you :clown: :clown: :clown: s

Peanut! ouch... ok some of the actual facts may have got lost in translation between all, however does that really matter! the fact is TTGully had a game to play against Inter, whether it be at 9.30 or 1pm Salisbury Inter did all it could to make the game happen, even though a forfeit meant we became champions! as we did not want to win it that way, and we also appreciate that as a home game our club could benefit from some extra income, something clubs like ours prosper on! we also heard the reason you forfeited was so you could go watch your A's win Div 3? (not sure if its true but what ive heard on the grapevine) WOW Div3 bahahahaha! its that very reason why you guys have struggled to play at the highest level for over 20 years, to commit to a league and then forfeit like that shows you have no respect for the league, club or yourselves, and the fact TTG have been starved of Div1 football is probably the reason numerous people come on here and make statements about teams taking the 35's "to serious"i havent heard any of the Northern clubs like the Downs,Grove,PH East, PH West & Farm complain about the likes of the Vale or Inter, infact those club relish the fact they get to play against a competative outfit! once again i beleive the difference there is these clubs all have a strong history of playing at the highest level unlike the rest of the teams up the Hill a bit! those clubs come to play hard, sure we have words during the game but after 80mins (or 95 if u play the gully away  ) we all have a drink and a laugh after, Hell we even supply all our opposition with ice cold beer and drinks after the game, at the teams expense not the clubs, & that week we actually chucked in extra cash each as we knew you guys had a large squad, we counted 17 or 18 when we played you at the gully, and that wasnt counting your ref :clown: :clown:! anyway its all done and dusted now and Salisbury Inter S.C has picked up another championship (in its first year) to add to its cabinet, the largest Trophy Cabinet in the SAASL, bring on the Vale at Hindmarsh, we cant wait to play against some of the true amatuer league legends of 5/10 years ago, win or lose the beers and antics after should be fun

You may well have at C team now but it shouldve been in Div 6. Anyhow congratulations to Inter on winning Div 9 hopefully we might see a Parafield team returning in 2013.

Dont worry too much about those teams up the Hill they have this geographical arrogance because they look down on the teams on Plains.

 So Gardens never forfeited games last season?
In regards to our forfeit against Inter, we genuinely had 8 players. Now I concede it didn't help that our coach showed a couple of players the door during that week, but injuries (including myself) and absences played a part. There have been 4 or 5 games this season where we have played with the bare eleven and even played against the gully for the first half hour with ten men. Guys that usually can only manage 20 mins forced to endure 80.
On the whole it's been an enjoyable season, congratulations to Inter on their cakewalk and thank you to everybody who played for playing their part in a good season.
However, repeatedly congratulating yourselves, having cheap shots at other clubs and reminding everybody how good your first team is and how good you were 5-10 years ago is where the arrogance lies, lefty, and it reeks of a lack of humility. It's finished, you won, well done.
As captain of our side I apologise to the boys at Inter and felt awful to be part of a side that threw a white flag in the air, but shit happens, there's no need to carry on like you've been robbed of a chance at Hindmarsh or something, maybe it's hard to let go of the competitive edge in your first seasons away from top Competition, but this ain't sheep station football. Good luck to both teams at Hindmarsh and see you all again for another merry go round of fun and games in 2013.
