JUst curious.....
How is it that the FFSA will not compel a team to play on a scheduled league Sunday (like Greek Easter) but will then compel a team to play on a Wednesday to catch up a game that it wasn't their fault the game was postponed anyway?

I assume you could be from Playford ??
The fact is all except I think one or maybe two members of the team are Orthodox, so for religious reasons games were not played as is the case for regular Christian Easter – it was also the case for other clubs as well, not just Greek but Orthodox just the same.
FFSA respect and accept this as the Orthodox community is a significant portion of the wider community.

I know a club that requested one game for Ramadan, they didn't get it.

Interesting if true. If it is Playford then if a game was scheduled on St George's Day would Playford be able to postpone????Fact Hunt wrote:How is it that the FFSA will not compel a team to play on a scheduled league Sunday (like Greek Easter) but will then compel a team to play on a Wednesday to catch up a game that it wasn't their fault the game was postponed anyway?

To be fair that is a singular player not a whole two teams having to miss out.

Re: JUst curious.....
If Playford submitted to the FFSA this was a significant day for a lot of their players, then the FFSA would be obliged to recognise it. But using that same argument, Playford would have to advise FFSA of this signficant day and unavailability of any of their teams prior to the fixtures being released in February.Old Redback wrote:Interesting if true. Actually they had 6 out of 14 players and guess what, the team had no choice but to forfiet. Sure they could have played with 7 players

Excuse my ignorance but doesnt Ramadan last for a month or so?? is a bit different to one day and I kindv'e recall some muslim friends at uni (many years ago) not being significantly restricted as far as normal daily activities go ..other than having to wait to night time to eat...

And why wasnt your home game played last Sunday?? ..was it due to a player or players being out as a whisper suggests ?? ... and is this the same reason I have heard you are keen to have the Wed game cancelled .?

The kids have to attend the mosque at certain times during the month with their parents, which can conflict with games and training.Sacred Noodle wrote:Excuse my ignorance but doesnt Ramadan last for a month or so?? is a bit different to one day and I kindv'e recall some muslim friends at uni (many years ago) not being significantly restricted as far as normal daily activities go ..other than having to wait to night time to eat...
Of course trying to play a full game on an empty stomach doesn't help.

You need to look at the entire rulings, no water, no liquids, yeah it's not summer but there has been some warm days. The boys usually do not train that entire Month.

Re: JUst curious.....
Good game last night at Westies very entertaining with Playford finishing the stronger. Game was tainted by the ref though who seemed to think everyone had come out to watch him and the way he spoke to the kids on both sides was terrible. Why would he have two linesman that he doesn't use either and even say to one of them thatthey had nothing to do with the game?

“Playford finishing the stronger” ..you have to be taking the piss..surely?? Your goal to equalize from a direct free kick due to the keeper stepping over the line ‘after the ball had left his foot’ ... didn’t see anything worrying to WA other than that.... was plenty down the other end though ... you must have been watching your linesman too much to see how far he was going to throw the flag again
Actually thought that would be an indirect free (not that it matters too much) though I suppose if the referee, thinking the keeper carried the ball over the line deemed it to be a handball offence (suppose that is what it would be) and then possibly a direct free would be right .. bit unsure on that one. .. anyway yes there were some extremely soft free kicks awarded (would think WA were more the hard done by in that regard) but think the ref gave due regard to the linesmen on both sides ... the ref has the right to make the final decision ..so that’s just the way it goes.
Anyway is junior soccer and so doesn’t warrant a game analysis or discussion on a forum but the usual stupid parental ego compelled me to respond after reading your post .... although the WA boys would have liked the win, have to settle for the draw and so on to next game.. which ..oh yeah..is you guys again ... hopefully is another good game.. with a little less wind

Re: JUst curious.....
No ego here mate but if you want to be picky I think it was disgraceful that WA kids clapped and cheered when a Playford player got a yellow card also thought it was pretty pathetic WA supporters shouting 'pass back' when the ball deflected off a defender! That being said it wasn't the right thing to do from our linesman but I would imagine that it is frustrating when you flag for handball and the ref ignores it.
Anyway like you I hope there is less wind and Playford pick up where they left off as the wind assisted them in the second half as it did WA in the first. Should be a good contest on Sunday. I'll bring my own coffee as well - yours wasn't the greatest but the staff were very friendly and the saslicks top notch.

Re: JUst curious.....
Redback I wasnt referring to you re the 'stupid parental ego'.. I was refering to myself so dont be offended.... and no am not being picky if I was to be picky I would say a lot more but that would make me sound like even more of a twat..
re the coffee have to admit the coffee hasnt been to great lately ..have noticed that myself .. will have a chat to Nick the souvlaki and coffee maker..
Just tell your lineman to chillax ..there was a clear handball by your guys in the first half that wasnt picked up and another if I recall correctly in the second half our linesman didnt jump up and down about that ... thats just part of the game and would be hard for the ref under lights and in those windy conditions to pick everything up (apart from stuff that wasnt really there... mmm anyway whats done is done )
See you Sunday..
