Being serious, I won't get excited, our squad isn't good enough to get better than 7-5th this year but as long as we progress I will be happy.
Skrtel must have had Tevez in his dream team this week, i'm not sure why he didn't look up when he passed that ball back. Lucky to get that free kick, but a result is a result, Man City have gone back to relying on Tevez for everything again.

Come on mate, it's 2 games in !!!
Without Aguero for a month, it's pretty much 1 up front.
A little frustrated with the result given the circumstances but very happy with the performance.
We’ll have days like this and days against WBA multiple times this season. That was the youngest side we’ve put out since 2003 and the youngest in the league, so to match it and even deserve 3 points against the champions will give lots of confidence to the youngsters.
Not sure what City are up to, they’ve been unusually complimentary about us in the press pre and post. Probably buttering us up for another crack at Agger.
Sat through the Stoke-Arsenal snoozefest before our game. Not a bad side, but susceptible at full back and too many new players in the front third trying to gel, so they look a little ineffective upfront. I think we can take them if we bring the same level of intensity. Would expect Sahin to slot straight in, would be amusing if plays a blinder.

Stoke Vs Arsenal was not the greatest game. I actually thought we were solid at the back, Midfield very solid too, but def agree about the final third. Will be tough game at Anfield, i would expect Walcott to start.
2 massive points dropped...that game sums up where the team is at. One of those back passes was eventually going to go wrong. It was a good performance by the Reds, do it again at the weekend and it should be a convincing win over Arsenal. BUT...really need to make more of our attacking chances
Sterling, Shelvey, Coates, Borini and in particular my MOM Allen were impressive. Early days but Allen looks like a bargain at 15m.
The negatives were Gerrard, Suarez and Reina (who would have though eh?). Gerrard typically attempted too many killer balls and turned over possession far too often. I would like to see him play in the front 3. Suarez is typically trying too much and proving ineffective as the spearhead. I would like to see him swap positions with Borini, who in turn looks to be more effective centrally anyway. Reina had a flap fest.

Agree with all of this. In particular the Borini/Suarez part. Suarez is at his best when he's running at players and finishing is a big weakness of his, which makes me think he would be much more effective for us in a wide position. Borini's best attribute is his movement, which for a 21 year old is superb, and would be of much greater use to us centrally. Hopefully we see this at some stage, although for now Rodgers seems intent on playing Suarez through the middle.

Probably won’t be the last time either, can live with this. Copped the occasional goal from overworking the ball at the back for the benefit of being a fluid passing team.
Eh. He was alright. Pretty poor first half, good second half.
He wont be on top form all game, but he stopped City being comfortable.
He will do well with the new boy from who starts with HU...
I'm aware. But at some point you've got to accept that all the pretty turns and all the fancy touches don't make for a great performance. His end product is beyond frustrating. A quality goal and better ball retention in the second half made up for what was a poor first half in which his touch was poor and his passing sloppy.

Didn’t think he was that bad either. A constant problem for their defenders. Certainly not as wasteful as the WBA game in front of goals.
A lot of the time he was pressing City’s backline by himself, don’t think Rodgers would be too pleased with the rest of the front 3 with that. But we were a little deeper than usual, probably adapted to the quality of the opposition. All in al, OK wasn’t Man U home in 10/11 season or Norwich hat-trick away but was still a pretty good shift against what statically the league’s best defence.
Hopefully lucas' injury isn't too serious! Allen was very good. Does a lot of dirty work and has good vision although he keeps it simple most times. Sterling has got a bright future. If he is managed properly, he will be a fantastic player. Coates looked decent. He sometimes loses his composure when under pressure but I'd rather a defender hoof it long rather than try always play it. Skrtel was unlucky. He had a great game and would have been close to motm for me if he didn't make that error. Suarez is great to watch but I agree with bowties. Suarez does get frustrating at times. Sometimes he just has to do one trick less and release/shoot and he will be fine.
All in all, it was a good performance. He didn't totally outplay city but I was pleased with the effort. Very keen to see sahin play next week.

Don't like to bag my own teams player/s BUT Skrtel MOTM Said it before and will say it again that he will cost LFC more points than he earns (yes he may have scored a great header but he played a role in BOTH goals yesterday and in 2 of the 3 goals against West Brom last week), he also gives away needless free kicks in area's he doesn't need to due to being too tight or out of position (see Agger send off last week) and when he has a free header to clear he just goes for distance which usually goes directly back to the opposition, no poise to try to he could pick out a team mate.
Coates or Kelly (not a full back long term is a CB) for CB for me everytime over Skrtel.
Allen MOTM by a counrty mile and others will need to raise thier game and laern to play with him as he is the future of the Liverpool midfield.
