Re: Lance Armstrong faces doping charges
Lance Armstrong's biggest victory, bigger than any of his Tour de France titles, was his victory against the cancer that threatened his life.
Contesting the doping charges, whether they would bring forward any more evidence other than hearsay, was taking away his time spent with his cancer foundation.
You might be able to win 1-2 TDF titles with drugs, but surely someone who has won '7' titles could not win those with drugs... seems like Lance should never have contemplated entering American politics.

Re: Lance Armstrong faces doping charges
http://www.usada.org/media/sanction-armstrong8242012Following the dismissal of Mr. Armstrong’s lawsuit on Monday, August 20, 2012, by the federal court in Austin, Texas, Mr. Armstrong had until midnight on Thursday, August 23, to contest the evidence against him in a full evidentiary hearing with neutral arbitrators as provided by U.S. law. However, when given the opportunity to challenge the evidence against him, and with full knowledge of the consequences, Mr. Armstrong chose not to contest the fact that he engaged in doping violations from at least August 1, 1998 and participated in a conspiracy to cover up his actions. As a result of Mr. Armstrong’s decision, USADA is required under the applicable rules, including the World Anti-Doping Code under which he is accountable, to disqualify his competitive results and suspend him from all future competition.
Re: Lance Armstrong faces doping charges
The ironic thing is the USADA has tested Armstrong on 29 occasions and not one test proved positive

Re: Lance Armstrong faces doping charges
And the evidence against him is.....
A dozen or so cyclists who are confirmed drug cheats and whose testimony
would have to be questionable. They are after all,'liars' in that they cheated the sport.
What's to say they won't cheat the court?
Especially if they're getting looked after.

as for Lance, no evidence is there to convict him, all the tests he had to indure came back negative, but USADA have other plans......

Lance Armstrong
If I thought for one moment that by participating in USADA’s process, I could confront these allegations in a fair setting and – once and for all – put these charges to rest, I would jump at the chance. But I refuse to participate in a process that is so one-sided and unfair. Regardless of what Travis Tygart says, there is zero physical evidence to support his outlandish and heinous claims. The only physical evidence here is the hundreds of controls I have passed with flying colors. I made myself available around the clock and around the world. In-competition. Out of competition. Blood. Urine. Whatever they asked for I provided. What is the point of all this testing if, in the end, USADA will not stand by it?

Re: Lance Armstrong faces doping charges
Notwithstanding the fact I havent really taken much notice of this issue, but why do you think USADA have taken the stance they have, knowing the huge impact its decision would affect one of their "own"? I know sporting organizations can be corrupt (FIFA prime example), but what have they got to gain out of it? Surely its more than a "witch hunt"? And if one is 100% sure of their innocence, then surely you would fight it in the courts, especially given the USA's stance on "innocent till proven guilty". Or are all the decent defence lawyers in the US on leave at the moment?

if the the evidence was zero and of no threat, then take the time and go to arbitration...
Re: Lance Armstrong faces doping charges
why? clearly a witch hut mate, believing floyd landis, after his years of lying, yeah ok thats awesome evidence, supposed testemony of people who have been banned for epo who have lied too, ok thenadam wrote:if the the evidence was zero and of no threat, then take the time and go to arbitration...
why hasn't barry bonds had all his achievements taken away? they were achieved with a team? he took the drugs... there is your precedent

Re: Lance Armstrong faces doping charges
Marion Jones is also a precedent... anyway, you keep believing the spin from the Church of Lance.
he ran from a fight that could have cleared him once and for all... despite the USADA apparently having no evidence???

tested positive at the world cup, sent home, banned for a year, missed out on winning the world cup, he didn't get a medal, brad hogg did, and deservedly so, so essentially his indescretion cost himGod is an Englishman wrote:DOC wrote:why? clearly a witch hut mate, believing floyd landis, after his years of lying, yeah ok thats awesome evidence, supposed testemony of people who have been banned for epo who have lied too, ok thenadam wrote:if the the evidence was zero and of no threat, then take the time and go to arbitration...

They didn't take away his achievements and wickets though. Who won the 2002/3 Ashes series. Surely you can't win with a drug cheat in your side.
