A warning to other clubs if you find out who the referee was refuse him if you are apointed him in the future. Both team managers should have agreed to walk off at half time to make a point to rid us of these nazi type referees. He might be growing facial hair for next weeks game back he cant loose 15 kilos by then.

I thought the original post asked for results.

We all experience dodgy refereeing, "same dog different spots".
Next week someone else will be winging on about another ref.

Just post the results please!

Our club has had issues with a particular referee so much so that we advised FFSA for him not to be allocated to any further matches. So guess what? Yep, two weeks later, they send him out again. We put in an objection but FFSA basically said tough!

Disgraceful that a club has to pay $60 for a referee that they have specifically said they do not want.

Geez I hope your not writing the letter to the FFSA on behalf of your club..

You don't like him, he doesn't like you or your club based on what? - Color, race, religion, some other form of prejudiced action or what? (that's the impression I get from your post)
You cannot chose your referees because you don't like their decisions or how the game is managed.
If there is a problem with a referee then it wont take long for the FFSA to act as there is a process for this.
I think overall for the year the games have been pretty good and up on previous years.
1/6.... but still 6. :)

:D black doesn't get bad referees at his club....if ya know what i mean
Actually from the physical description of the ref in question I thought a recent poster on here had reignited his passion for officiating at games..........sure would be safer in the centre circle that running the line......

Nah its not who you think it is.. although we did have him as a ref earlier in the year, complete Tool who didn't and doesn't know how to handle 16-17yr old lads. treated them like they were 5yr olds. I am just tired of a few refs making it all about them. We've had some excellent officiating this year and mostly from the younger refs who talk to the players and put them on notice if they continue to foul or push the limits rather than just throw out the yellow card say nothing.

Mackem Lad is spot on. The U/17s in this game where treated like 5 year olds. The ref did not decide the game Para won it fair & square but he did change the way the game was played to suit his fitness. I felt very sorry for the players on both teams when they were spoken to by this guy. Everyone goes on about respect, what about referees respecting players?

the issue with this referee in particular, is that he is only half interested in the game,
his main concern in with his kids, he brings the two of them to the games ( including senior games ), and is always keeping an eye out for them,
and not concentrating on the game he is officiating.

I have had him a few times officiating under 19's, and then of course running the line for the seniors, and all the while he is looking for his kids,
and not watching the game, hence not keeping up with the second last defender and making random, woefull calls, stopping the game unneccessarily.

It's not going to get any better due to a shortage of Federation referee's, and we will just have to put up with it.
young referee's that want to progress need to complete the advanced ref course ($150) and then become registered ($80) and then purchase their
own kit ($120), only then to recieve trainee pay rates (although clubs are charged full fees) and have a 7.5% handling fee taken out by the Federation.

it is a sad state of affairs indeed, but until the competition administration is cleaned up, it ain't gonna get any better,

:) glad your week started with a chuckle. :)
But seriously Give it a go.
Saw it work last year to good effect.
Be sure though - when you complain be precise, concise and do not bitch too much..
When two or three complaints like these come in about the same person, things happen.

it is a sad state of affairs indeed, but until the competition administration is cleaned up, it ain't gonna get any better,

Its actually a bit different to become a referee. You do a laws of the game course (which is now online)and then you do a secondary course which covers the laws not much practical, you need this course to be able to officiate. When you sign up for the secondary course with the FFSA you get flag, cards, green shirt, whistle. its called he mentor programme (its up to the referee whether or not they choose to where the shirt or not - personally i dont and never had and purchased the kit). The FFSA hold mentor sessions in three different locations across adelaide, where young referee go to get tips and techniques from referees who have been doing it for a while (these are held monthly). For level 3/4 referees where is a coaching session held on a monthly basis, level 1/2 is a bit more full on, but you get the idea. As a referee you get the full fee from the club, then at the end of the month, the FFSA send you a bill and take 12.5% levies, doesnt matter if your starting out or almost at a league level.

I found the support a bit poor starting out, like what was the next step etc. Also on match days I think the FFSA for the younger referees should sent someone out there to give them a bit of confidence and tips about how they are going. Having someone from FFSA there would probably also keep the coaches / spectators in line a bit more.

I think many of you dont understand how bad this situation was. This guy is about 55 years old & short (what age is the cut off?) he was absolutly not fit & overweight (do they have to be fit?) With the ball up one end he was dragging his feet inside the center circle. Is there any fitness tests carried out from time to time? To say he was trigger happy is an understatement. He did have his 2 kids with him (is this allowed?) He spoke down to all the players & even spectators & threatened to call the game off because some spectators were making comments because he called a free kick 10 seconds into the game! (this I have never seen before)Again for something stupid. He sent 2 players off for swearing at themselves & waving yellow cards like they wear flags. He was making players retake free kicks & throw ins because they were 10mm out of place. By half time you could hear a pin drop as everybody was affraid to say anything. Dont send the FFSA to check up on young referees you need to send then out to check these guys who are out to purposely ruin the game. This guy has serious personal issues.
