TTG 2 Downs 1
Close game ruined by a shocking referee. TTG a bit embarrassed by it I think but good bunch of fellas and a good team that can do without that blight on the team.

I watched that game and thought the ref was fair and unbiased (not) however if not for the downs keeper it would have a bigger margin than the one goal, pulled off some absolute crackers mind you his passing went astray a couple of times unless he meant to kick it out of playOld Redback wrote:TTG 2 Downs 1

The incompetance of the referee can only be explained as case cast of blatant dishonesty. Never witness such a totally biased case of officiating and of players in full knowledge and acceptace taking advantage of that fact. No wonder TTG clubrooms are like a morgue as I know I couldnt go in there if I was a TTG player with my fellow team mates, look them in the eye and say, "Hey we played good honest football today and we deserved to win that game." I couldnt have taken any enjoyment out of winning in that way. Seriously TTG if thats the way you want to play and particpate in the +35s then Im sure I am not the only one who would advise you to take your ball and go play in some other competition. You guys really need to go find a decent sized mirror and go have a good look at yourself. Ultimately playing +35s is about fairness and fun. I experienced none of that when we played you on Sunday. Let me end this by saying that this is not a case of sour grapes, as anyone who knows me will know that no matter the result I will always have a laugh and a joke with both the opposition and my fellow team mates during and after a game.michael duberry wrote:I watched that game and thought the ref was fair and unbiased (not) however if not for the downs keeper it would have a bigger margin than the one goal, pulled off some absolute crackers mind you his passing went astray a couple of times unless he meant to kick it out of playOld Redback wrote:TTG 2 Downs 1

Whoa, whoa, whoa....Sorry mate but have to disagree with you on the biased and players taking advantage of it, we had decisions go against us, one player was taken out then another before a free was given to us.I copped anice studs up challenge from behind only to be told play on. He played advantage to you guys in a good position only for your player to spray it wide, then you whinge about him playing advantage, lose lose situation for him.htfac wrote:The incompetance of the referee can only be explained as case cast of blatant dishonesty. The incident that outraged you most well.. I thought it was a free kick from where I was standing , 3 others around me thought it was a fair bump shoulder to shoulder. We have been given a stigma over the last 12 months because of our referees, we have had 4-5 different refs this year and each time a free kick is given against another club, we are as players and a club labelled cheats, this shites me beyond belief, not only me but us as a team because all we want to do is enjoy our football and shake hands at the end of the game.
Our club was morgue like on Sunday because our C's had a team forfeit against them and our A's and B's were at Noarlunga so our bar wasn't opened, I can look at my team mates and say well played today, yes we were lucky to get a result but if you had taken some of your chances early - you may have taken the points.
The 35's is about fun and fairness and I love playing in this competition and enjoy playing against some guys who have great skills and knowledge of the game, when someone from the opposition puts through a nice pass or a good tackle i will let them know and have a laugh with them and pat them on the back afterwards.(ask the big guy in the middle)
I aswell love nothing more than taking the piss out of my own players and enjoy laughing at anyones expense.
I look forward to playing you guys next year and hopefully it is played in the same spirit it was for the first 75 minutes.
P.S I agree with some of old redbacks comments
Life moves pretty fast, if you dont stop and look around once in a while, you just might miss it !

Yes, but according to the knowledgable woman on the sideline "we play rugby not soccer" despite not even seeing a nasty tackle in the whole game. Plus I am an "animal". No idea why, I didn't even speak to her and was just running the line and I didn't even give an offside all game.

Yes i agree think Gully need to get a referee that just wants a good game not ruining the game by everything going there way.
Id hate to see how many penaltys the Gully have got at there ground.

Seems like a few have been affected by Gully's ref - would make sense to look at a change down there for the good of the club name and good will from other clubs or you may find yourselves with fewer fixtures next season by the look of it.

To add to this I have played 1 over 35s game this year and it was at TTG. The referee is a blatant cheat and the players know it. They apologise during the game but are so hellbent on winning at all costs they don't really care.
Some players were comitting blatant offences/ appealing for free kicks that they knew were never there, knowing that the referee would give them the decision.
In the end they won and still would have without the ref's assistance. The game however ended up deteriorating into a farce.
I agree with all you have said after all whomever plays to win over 35's at all costs has some loose marbles rattling around!!!

Re: Sunday +35s 2012
Has the lack of success in the higher grades at TTG caused their over 35s to strive too hard to get silverware to the club? Go to the next div like FOB did, because you guys are totally missing the point of what the over 35s league is about; a kick around, a laugh and a few drinks after the game.
Your ref on the weekend was the worst. You can understand some errors but to be so blatant, hang your head. A red card in an over 35s what a joke.
Good luck to Inter and the Vale. Hmmmm successful clubs at the highest level.

Re: Sunday +35s 2012
Seems like most O/35 come away from a fixture at TTG with a similar story – bit of an obvious pattern there. I know it can be a hard task finding someone to give up a few hours on a cold Sunday morning. But unless Gully are able to find a more suitable someone, the club’s reputation will continue to be tarnished.
Most of the O/35 players recognise reffing can be a hard task and generally give him a bit of slack if they can see they are at least trying to be fair. However it soon becomes obvious at most TTG home games that this is not the case. Congrats to Farm & Jets O/B for supplying an official ref. Whilst this does not guarantee they are any better, it at least takes out the accusations of home town bias. I have seen the odd occasion of some teams suffering in reverse - where the home ref tries not to be bias and ends up being too hard on the home side.
As a general comment in these games the ref should not really have to adjudicate on throw ins or corners/goal kicks – in the vast majority of times the players know what the correct decision should be – they should not appeal for things that they know are not right. Leave the ref to make the decisions on fouls, and hopefully offside decisions to linesmen (although I know that can be another area of concern).

It actually all started when the ref blew up for an offside when the TTG linesman - who was in line - did not!
Re: Sunday +35s 2012
You bunch of pork chops. Don't confuse somebody who is just a crap ref with a concerted plan by all us TTG boys to cheat our way to victory. We are all there for a kick around and a bit of banter over a beer and couldn't give a hoot if we win or lose. The guy who refs has no link to us +35s at all - we struggle to find anybody else to do it and even pay this guy for the privelege of his game ruining efforts. Yes, we think he stinks as well.
The one thing we maybe guilty of is sticking with this guy for far too long so we can all get on the park and play, and not making more of an effort to find somebody else. The rest of your accusations are just a load of BS. It's quite staggering to think some of you take the results in a +35 league so seriously that you feel the need to come on to a forum and cast dispersions against a whole team.

Re: Sunday +35s 2012
Even worse! So you are happy for him to ruin it for everyone including your own team? Who really is the clown here?
Re: Sunday +35s 2012
How could you possibly interpret what I wrote to mean that we are happy with it. I state quite the opposite and admit that we should have done something about it before now.
It’s quite ironic that you downs boys come on here and accuse us of cheats. The worst case of sportsmanship I have ever seen occurred down at Argana Park.
Rnd 1 +35 Cup 2008. Eliz Downs take a corner that goes so far behind the goals that all players start to head their way out to set up for the obvious goal kick. The ball curves back behind the goals where a downs player nonchalantly volleys the ball back to the goal and it happens to go in the net. The Ref gives a goal to all our amazement and rather than correct the ref and highlight that it was actually a goal kick, all the downs boys just trotted back to the half way mark laughing their heads off.
That proved to be the deciding goal which knocked us out of the +35 cup in its first year.
Feel free to come down off your high moral ground anytime you like. You guys have been less than perfect over the years.

Re: Sunday +35s 2012
Rockcod, you certainly have a good memory to pick out a decision from four years ago (not that you hold a grudge at all). However at least this discussion has shown that the TTG o/35 players recognise there is a problem with their ref - credit there, but the test will be to see what happens in the remaining home games. No excuses now for retaining his services. Lets hope for the benefit of all 35ers that this situation improves, and stays that way for next season. Play on.......

Re: Sunday +35s 2012
If you've been bearing that grudge for 4 years then I suppose Sunday squared the ledger for you?
Re: Sunday +35s 2012
No grudge, no ledger that needs to be squared (I didn't even play last Sunday). I just don't like the team’s and my sportsmanship being questioned because of a ref who is not affiliated with us. I very much enjoy getting out on a Sunday and having a kick when I am fit and able and it’s disappointing that visiting teams are feeling that the ref is ruining their enjoyment of the game at our ground. I agree…play on… and bang in enough goals so the ref is not a factor in the result. But give us a chance and don’t come with a pre-conceived notion that our ref is out there to rip you off. The next bloke who steps up (more than likely an injured player) is undoubtedly going to be inexperienced and will make the odd mistake or bad call. Just don’t mix a bad refs call with a team out there to cheat to win. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nuff said – looking forward to the weekend and another chance to have a run.
Re: Sunday +35s 2012
The only person who should be embarrassed here is the peanut who spent a good part of 30 minutes hurling abuse, swearing and carrying on from the sideline while there are kids running around.....nice role model.....we are not playing for sheep stations. Sure we all go off and swear here and there when frustrated but for a solid 30 minutes???? little man syndrome perhaps?
If you want good refs go up a grade, oh thats right were old and past it - so just get on with playing the game and rise above the abilities or lack of any of the refs. Im there for a laugh, nutmeg someone, occassional goal and a beer. If you dont get that then perhaps its time to hang up the boots.
I'd play without a ref, perhaps there shouldnt be a table. Maybe we should play for a year and each captain votes who the best team were and they play off in a comp with refs at the end of the year. That would take away all the bad decisions, bad tackles and perhaps we would see more skill and less numpties swearing and carrying on.
