I reckon a 2nd chance cup would be nice for the teams that get knocked out in prelim or round 1. But if you forfeit in the main cup, you are automatcially out of the 2nd cup.

Fills the gaps in the season and then also gives a div 3 or 4 team a chance to play in some finals should none of the "heavyweights" get knocked out early. More games for players and more revenue for clubs, more cup romance.

Who gives a Rat's if a team forfeits ..? The team they play go through to the next round and
nobody is Inconvenienced except maybe some revenue if the game was scheduled at their ground.
People just want to play, they don't want a forfeit.

So what are those people doing when they get knocked out of the Cup legitimately?? You shouldn't be banking on games during the Cup.. you could lose.

Division 1 and 2 clubs enter at Round 2.

Yes to Thirds (C grade) cup.

Not in favour of a Consolation Cup. This was done years ago.

We forfeited in R1 simply because we drew a Sunday team and half the team work Sundays in order to guarantee at Sat off to play.

How about a Sat cup and Sun cup then merge them at last 16? You'd be more inclinded to to have time off for latter stages.

It wouldn't work adding an extra round in purely on numbers. In 2012, there are 50 first teams not in Sat Div 3/4/5 Sun Div 3/4/5 and 43 reserve teams. In a round with only Div 1/2 teams (usually 40 teams, 38 in 2012), you need to find 24 (or this year 26) to make it up to 64. So it doesn't work unless you make it 'Div 1' only (20 teams) and then only 12 need to go through in each cup.

I've always thought you could hold simultaneously:

Challenge/Reserve Cup (as it is currently)
Saturday/Sunday League Cup (ironically, played on neutral venues on Tuesday/Wednesday nights)
'Lower Division' Cup (Below Div 2)

Of course this depends on the fixture lists too, as often the lower first/reserve divisions have longer schedules (ie Sat Div 4 and Sun Div 4 this year).

IMO, the 'C' Cup doesn't work for the simple reason that the gap between 'A' and 'C' is extremely huge and the fact that a club may for whatever reason have 'A' players available for the 'C' team. This would devalue the Cup as a true 'C' competition.

Disagree
There are enough C Teams in Saturday and Sunday leagues now to form a Cup - four or five divisions of C Teams at least?

How is that different to 35s?
The gap between A's and C's is so big plus by the later stages of the year, some C teams are struggling for players. If they play for the A's and B's, they are then cup tied.

I'm not a big fan of a Cup system for the 35's. The inital reason for a cup for them was to give them extra games as there wasn't enough teams.
