Nah, they are albanians. I spoke to George the guy starting the club via PM, he told me that they are the good albanian guys (are there any) that want to play, they will be trying to get other nationalities in to make it a better club.Mr Boombastic wrote:I was told you guys are bosnian, that true?

To put the rumour to rest, Yes, the core group of five putting the club together are Albanian.
I would like to mention that at no time have we had any part in playing, running or supporting former clubs from the Albanian community in South Australia and the SAASL.
We are not forming as an Albanian community club, it is only coincidental that we happen to be Albanian, but I will stress WE ARE NOT AN ALBANIAN COMMUNITY CLUB.
We would like to think of ourselves more as an Australian club or a club with multi national backgrounds. We will welcome anyone from any ethnic background to our club.
We will be promoting a friendly family based club and any violence or any behavioural issues will not be tolerated at the club, any one who joins our club will be kicked out of the club if they display any poor disrespectful behaviour both on and off the pitch.
I hope this answers any questions or concerns.
Regards.

i have to ask a couple of things regarding what i highlighted in red. Im not having a go in anyway, but over the years, having seen first hand how the old clubs conducted themselves i think some people will be a little cautious.
will you prevent the people who ran the old albanian based clubs from joining yours? after all, you mention that you will welcome anyone....
if so,considering the history of the old albanian clubs, how will you be able to prevent poor behaviour in the first place? ....
once someone gets out of hand it's to late.
im sure nobody wants to see another club in the same situation as Besa for example....
anyway, like i said, good luck to you guys.

I agreee with this part...... but credit must go to the lads for trying to start their own club and for openly admitting they're albanian. Im sure they are aware this may worry people (because of bad events at other clubs) but yet they are here being honest and hoping that the general public wont hold them responsible for the actions of others. I for one hope these guys are 100% legit. and wish them luck.PASC wrote:good luck to your new club mate ....

I can totally understand that there may be some cautious people out there hearing that there are Albanians running a club, especially with the history of problems created by the community.PASC wrote:good luck to your new club mate ....Port Adelaide United wrote:To put the rumour to rest, Yes, the core group of five putting the club together are Albanian.

I can assure you that those who have run or been involved with previous Albanian clubs are highly unlikely to come to Port Adelaide United due to a difference in religion. The same can be said for those from BOSNA, they are highly unlikely to want to join our club.
If they do choose to join Port Adelaide United, they will be closely watched for any issues with behaviour and they will not be given any chances.
Port Adelaide United will promote a respectful family environment and will expect that anyone involved at the club to promote the club in a positive manner.
I understand that there will always be people out there who doubt the club, I guess the only way we will be able to prove it to the SAASL and anyone involved in amateur league soccer is to show everyone in our inaugural season and prove ourselves.
I especially want visiting opposition teams and supporters to be comfortable, happy, safe and to enjoy coming to our home games with the friendly atmosphere at the club.
