Re: ENGLAND WILL WIN THE EUROS
even if we had the superist super coach from the land of super we still wouldn't of won
because quite simply (and it pains me to say) our players are just not good enough.
there were 4 players on the park from liverpool ffs and imo only 2 should have been.
again imo the only way to fix it is by way of major re-structure - bring english talent
thru and limit foreign players, however i cant see this ever happening in the PL.

WHere is the myth about Italy playing boring defensive football?
England were woeful.
Hawkesy you can cr#p on about "your" football all you want, the reality is that the best players in the EPL are foreign, its that simple.
England technically poor. Italy had more than double the passes and before you start with the pens rubbish, the game should ave ben over at half time.
For the record Italy will struggle against Germany, moreso becuase of the lack of rest time and the fact they played 120 mins.
ENgland midfield comperd to Italy's - no comparison. Pirlo next to Xavi and Iniesta in quality.
Capello got hammered for his style, he never got England playing like that!!!
Do you think that the extra 2 days disadvantages Germany?
Italy are a good side under Prandelli, Germany have their misgivings and I think if they allow Pirlo to play like the others have, they will get a bit of a suprise.

He wouldnt be Spain's number one or two you idiot. Nowhere near Buffon either. Nowhere near. Maybe on par with Petr Cech and Lloris (IMO) is better.ronaldo07 wrote:Joe Hart is already one of the world best !!!
Like I said, he will be one day, not right now. Too interested in pulling stupid faces and then made to look decidely stupid by Pirlo.
What do you think of England now?

You can blame the coach for selection and style of play, both of which were IMO average, but overall you're correct, we haven't had a creative midfielder since Gazza.lineker wrote:even if we had the superist super coach from the land of super we still wouldn't of won

The trouble with England has always been, they're so shit scared of losing, they've forgotten how to win. It's always safety first, they almost never try to take the initiative.

Fabio Capello was the best thing that's happened to England in a decade, and they're only going backwards until they appoint someone like him again.

England were outclassed. Pure and simple. The fact remains that the players the coach has at his disposal are simply not good enough.God is an Englishman wrote:The game was a draw, just as FIFA.PASC wrote:penalties or not they lost the QF.....God is an Englishman wrote:Once again we go out of a tournament without actually losing a game.

I bet a lot of you havent heard of half the Germany squad, yet all of their players are on another planet technically compared to most the English. Marco Reus, Schurrle, Gundogan - not a lot of them have played/will play this tournament, but they are world class.
Henderson once played for the u21's and managed a pass completion rate of less than 10%. WOW
What would you have said if Italy had adopted those England tactics? Italy have not played uber-defensive football since the 80's and since then have been very good in defence as well as when they go forward. Just because they have had brilliant defenders and were able to see out games, doesnt automatically make them defensive. In the 2006 World Cup they ended the semi-final with 4 strikers on the pitch and only 2 midfielders.
But thats ok Hawkesy, blood and guts wins trophies.

I actually thought the Italian defence looked a bit shaky at times but England failed to put them under any real pressure. It will be interesting to see how they deal with the German attack.

Questions should be asked about italy if the "outclassed" us but didn't score.

Italy outplayed England but poor finishing is poor football. Balotelli is not in the same class as di Natale. He butchered the one on one in the first half.God is an Englishman wrote:When did I say it wins trophies? I have said what I prefer watching.El Pibe D'Oro wrote:

I don't understand your angle of saying England lack technical players coming through then constantly use Henderson as an example. He's the polar opposite of your stereotypical brutish bust a gut Englishman.El Pibe D'Oro wrote:

Think you've confused your Henderson's with your Cattermole's mate.
For all the slagging they get there's not a bad production line coming through. Their squad at WC14 could be quite good once the deadwood is removed.
But it all counts for nothing if you've got a manager who is tactically inept and can't play the type of football required to bring the best out of them.

Kop, you are a smart bloke (your posts generally make sense) but dont let your Liverpool bias shine too brightly. The fact that you paid 20 million pound for a bloke who in all honesty has been poor in his first season speaks volumes. My point is all the ra-ra about Engerlund (and no not every English supporter on here is like that I know). Every time there is a tournament we hear all the hoo-ha. They had a midfield of Gerrard (great player but past his best), Parker (31 on his way out), Milner (less said the better) and Young (not an International player). Italy had Pirlo (say no more), Marchisio (does most of the bullish jobs), De Rossi (box to box dynamo) and Montolivo (who actually played well for once). England dont have a creative midfielder and unfortunately do not produce them. The continental nations - Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy et al try to play adn keep the ball. England do not.
Where is this production line? Wilshere will be top notch and yes is technically excellent, but where are the rest? Where is the next top notch left back?C entre forward? Wellbeck looks to be on his way, but who knows? Rooney, for all of his heroics for Man Utd continues to underperform at international level and Carroll, I am sorry, but if he plays, England will always play long balls. Im not sure what production line you are talking about.
The powerbrokers at the EPL do not give a toss about the National team, so long as the League is strong and awash with money (none of which is helping the National Team) all the cronies are happy.

It's the players. Andrea Pirlo was setting up the play for 120 minutes, and England's talisman, Steven Gerrard was cramping up after 70ish. It's ridiculous to think you're ever going to win when your best midfielder can't even run the game out. You can blame Hodgson all you want, the bottom line is, until there is a younger core, or older players that can compete at the highest level then forget ever winning anything.
All you have to do is look at the players in the Spanish and German teams to see the difference. Germany's average age is 24 years old, and Spain have a 23 man squad completely full of world class players.
English players just aren't that good.

Italy beat Engerlund in the quarter finals, its done and dusted.
the English still think their beta than the rest, yet have won "nada" to show for it.
Capello WOULD of won something with the team, but as mentioned, Engerlund DONT have the quality like Spain, Germany Italy, Holland etc...
neways, onto to facing the inform team in Germany in the Semis
