I thought that might have been the case, I thought your guys still went pretty hard but a lot just weren't up to standard which if you were missing 8 regulars would likely be the case.thunder14 wrote:I think the count is at 8 first team sidelined (All Quality), that's Football, you still need depth and commitment to win games and Sturt had neither on the weekend, we were diabolical.BlackBrian_7 wrote:Wanderers were very impressive in the A game, Sturt were surely missing a lot of players? A's Sturt not good enough today, Wanderers far too good. How were they 2nd to bottom? B's Sturt got dominated first half lucky to go into the break 1-0 down. Second half much better display by us, how you boys didnt lose 3/4-1 is beyond me ;)

Can we have a Sat Div 1 table on the amount of money spent on player wages for each club?

I've been told he's the highest paid player at the club.
Time for some righteous indignation

A Villa would spend close to Faaaark All also. GIAE. Nice to have a league that's not won before the season kicks off due to $$$$$$$.

wanderers very impressive unit, they surprised us and I am not surprised that they got a very good win.
they COULD start causing teams alot of trouble before end of season, and I wouldnt be surprised if they finish top 5!

Depends what you call wages. If I offer you a scholarship to you or your family at St Peters if you play, coach or whatever, is that considered wages?God is an Englishman wrote:hatzipp wrote:That would be an incorrect statement............

Re: Results Saturday 16/06/2012
I would say that even if they are doing that then it's a perk of the job not "wages". I think we can safely assume they are paying their coaches, I was referring to players only.kramerica wrote:Depends what you call wages. Re: Results Saturday 16/06/2012
What someone gets paid from the club and what gets given to him by an individual are two different things. There are players in Sat Div 1 getting money, granted its not as much as what some get paid to play on Sundays.
Re: Results Saturday 16/06/2012
my mail is St Peters, BOSA, Sturt Marion, Adelaide Villa, Iggies, MA Hawks and Salisbury Villa all pay something. one of those clubs tried to poach a player from us (State League) this year and offered double what we could (or at least that's what the smartarse told us in his negotiations....didn't buy it).
Re: Results Saturday 16/06/2012
I can confirm that no one at Salisbury Villa gets paid a cent. Not the committee, coaches, or players. Unless you have evidence you shouldn't be making such claims.il principe wrote:my mail is St Peters, BOSA, Sturt Marion, Adelaide Villa, Iggies, MA Hawks and Salisbury Villa all pay something. one of those clubs tried to poach a player from us (State League) this year and offered double what we could (or at least that's what the smartarse told us in his negotiations....didn't buy it).
Re: Results Saturday 16/06/2012
Do you have any actual knowledge or reasoning to at least try to back this up. Im looking at your list and see three teams that I know don't pay players, coaches or any other staff and that they all do it for the love of the club.il principe wrote:my mail is St Peters, BOSA, Sturt Marion, Adelaide Villa, Iggies, MA Hawks and Salisbury Villa all pay something. one of those clubs tried to poach a player from us (State League) this year and offered double what we could (or at least that's what the smartarse told us in his negotiations....didn't buy it).
Re: Results Saturday 16/06/2012
I heard we are one of the better pays in sat div 1 - steak sandwich and beer for a win, sausage and coke for a draw and a crunchie bar for a loss. FYI we regard ourselves as one of the most successful sat div 1 amateur clubs an we have never and we will never pay any player.

Yep go and aks him, its actually written in our constitution. As for God's comment you may find the gentleman is reffering to him giving his son $20 to spend on the BBQ at the game...................
