Boys did well, Italy getting a score draw against Spain stuffed us in the end - was counting on the Spanish to take all 3 points for us to have a chance of going through to next round.DAM wrote:El Pibe D'Oro wrote:For what its worth, Croatia very very unlucky from what I saw. 100% pen for the Ramos tackle and what was Perisic doing with that header?

That's the way it goes - but no complaints, was surprised at how good we played to be honest - outplayed the Irish, came back from 1.0 down and a poor first half against Italy to get a result and held Spain quite comfortably until we had to chase goals, leaving gaps in our defence for them to exploit.
Who knows, if Rakitic had a faaaarken clue on how to head a ball we may have even nicked it against Spain...
Yes, what a sad place it must have been at OUR sports park this morning...suppose it's better than watching the Euro's at a Greek soccer club...I mean how many can you fit in a caravan?

fines for racism to FA'sEl Capitano wrote:Nicklas Bendtner fined €100,000.00 and suspended for 1 match for showing a sponsor on his underpants
I expect the fine awaiting Croatia for this tournament will be higher than 100k.God is an Englishman wrote: UEFA really are clever aren't they, tougher stance on this than racism, and given it more air time. I didn't even know it had happened or who the sponsor was until they fined him.

banter is a bit to low and bordering on the unacceptable and disrespectful.
In Group C the croats were very unlucky indeed, in fact in both the games against italy and spain
they could of won it and progressed to who knows what heights. The supporters while disappointed im
sure would be proud to see their boys perform well without getting the desired result.
I watched the Greece v Russia game to and thought the greeks played with so much passion and really
deserved to win that game and go through.
Im really happy with the way these 2012 championships have gone so far and have seen many good games
with hopefully even better games coming up.
Guys keep up the banter in a fun way, respect each other and your heritage and lets all watch these games
knowing that the best football is in europe and we should be proud of who we are and respect our neighbours.
I apologise if this post sounds weak, and await some form of negative responses but seriously lets all enjoy the Euro's.
I cant wait for the final part of the tournament, it should be great. Cheers
nothing passive about it, he was centre of field directly in front of goal when Iniesta was receiving the ballŽeljko Jurin wrote:So, back to the football, and not making it an 'excuse', as 0-0 still wouldnt have been enough, just want to see if I'm understanding the offside rule correctly
Iniesta was not offside when the ball was played to him, but Navas was atleast 2-3m offside, not even borderline ...... as he was 'passive', but received the ball then from Iniesta to score the goal, is he deemed as 'interfering with play'?, and hence should have been offside ?

'passive' because he didnt receive the ball directly when it was played to Iniesta, but he received the ball then from Iniesta, hence interfering with play, and hence offside ... yeh ?rulebritania wrote:nothing passive about it, he was centre of field directly in front of goal when Iniesta was receiving the ballŽeljko Jurin wrote:So, back to the football, and not making it an 'excuse', as 0-0 still wouldnt have been enough, just want to see if I'm understanding the offside rule correctly

I'm talking about when Iniesta received it, Navas was in a 'very' offside position ....DAM wrote:Željko Jurin wrote:So, back to the football, and not making it an 'excuse', as 0-0 still wouldnt have been enough, just want to see if I'm understanding the offside rule correctly

i havent seen the replays, but im assuming that Iniesta cut it back to Navas to score, hence NO offside?

how can you be sure Navas didnt interfere with play considering his positioning on the field at the time?DAM wrote:
in that case, its 2 different scenarios
if Iniesta wasnt offside, play continues as Navas didnt interfere with play
the fact that he receives it after from Iniesta, doesnt relate to the initial play, so play on!
