why is it such an issue that it's "only 1 weekend" that you aren't playing?

Do you think that some might have planned that because there was no game for their side? I know of a few of your players who went away this weekend, one had planned to play and go away after and the other planned once he saw it was a cup weekend knowing his team would not be involved.

Because the season is so short in this country as it is. I want to make use of EVERY weekend for football. We have the bye next weekend and I won't know what to do with my day.

Because for a large section of players, they have things planned for the long weekend. Some people are travelling back to their home state for the weekend, others are going away with their girlfriend/wife/family. Whilst the people posting here want to play football every weekend, there are people who have other priorities. For a small club, a few players pulling out can really hurt the strength of your teams. For a large club, 2-3 players across 5 sides makes a massive difference.

You should never go away with your wife, girlfriend and family, it's not nearly as much fun as you think it might be

Honestly I think some people think up reasons to have a whinge, we had games on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, meant I escaped twice

Because that would mean that the season would have to be longer  and maybe include the October long weekend !
Heck, if I had it my way we'd be playing 9 months of the year and just avoiding summer. But, I still don't think games should be scheduled on long weekends. It is only an amateur league competition.

I have a doctors appointment in 3 weeks time, can we have that weekend off as well?

There's a reason why there aren't League matches on the Long weekend. Because the SAASL know that players will go away.

So they minimize the games to be played.

Surely, starting the League one week earlier would solve this issue. And if clubs find themselves with an excess of players around wanting a game, they can arrange friendlies.

The week before was an even longer weekend!

This year, yes.

Next year, no.

Can you send me a copy of the 2013 calendar if you have a copy already. Thanks

Also, this year I planned my holiday around the league calendar like any decent person would do.

Thanks, what dates are the cup rounds on and when does the season run from.

Hoping to go over for the final ashes game so the sooner I know the better.

Thanks in advance!

You had one sorted for Monday - free entry arranged, free taxi ride home. Obviously something more important arose.

You have to consider whether football or Ashes is more important, and plan accordingly.

Why is Halloween so important?

I'd rate Adelaide Cup day more significant here. That, and March 16th.

That's why I need to know the dates now
