with many clubs already applying a youth policy and pushing as many 15-17 year olds up what happens to the current kids there will not be enough teams in JPL.

Re: where too for juniors in future
Good question if true, especially for current U16's and U17's. Genuine 2012 U15's will have U16 to go to in 2013.fossil wrote:with many clubs already applying a youth policy and pushing as many 15-17 year olds up what happens to the current kids there will not be enough teams in JPL.
Let's say that about half (might be a bit high) of 2012 U19's are playing 'up' at the moment, then these players would be eligible for 2013 U18's. This leaves about half of 30 x U18 team spots available.
Then, 34 x U17 teams plus maybe half of 25 x U16 teams (assuming that about half of U16's are of correct 2012 age...not eligible for 2013 U16) would ALL be vying for half of 30 x U18 available(?) team spots??
Back to your original question fossil "what happens to the current kids there will not be enough teams in JPL"...what happens to the U16, U17 and U18 players who don't get a spot? Maybe they can retire or take up Lacrosse or something?

Re: where too for juniors in future
would have thought dependent on your current club you may need to trial for a club not quite as strong as your current club if you feel you may not make the u18s or u20s or move to SAASL or lacrosse
things happen for a reason
Re: where too for juniors in future
This affects all FFSA clubs! I wonder how the clubs feel KNOWING that they will lose players? There are no guarantees that a player trialling "...for a club not quite as strong as your current club..." will actually get in.robinfriday10 wrote:would have thought dependent on your current club you may need to trial for a club not quite as strong as your current club if you feel you may not make the u18s or u20s or move to SAASL or lacrosse
The FFSA created the system and now (once again...if true) they are just going to leave a substantial number of U16, U17 and maybe U18 players 'high and dry'!
Where is the future in that? Where's the development?.........gone
Re: where too for juniors in future
the same will apply to the older age groups with 19-20 who play reserves, although I think some clubs should have kicked the seniors over the age of 30 yrs long ago to promote a stronger more vibrant sport.on-side wrote:This affects all FFSA clubs! bigger probelm is there at curent 16-17 ages = approx 976 players add the 48 for the current teams in 19's only there is 1024 players effected not much but what about the $$$ to the clubs at $500 p.p. it's 448000 a year has the FFSA truely thought this through

people not happy about clubs loading sides with players ages from higher teams are we now to see clubs with 3 or 4 u18 teams made up of 16-18 year olds, not too mention the 15-16 year olds the clubs feel they must have playing up an age or two.
as for development how in all honesty can a club who has 100 plus players come out to trial actually look at everyone on true merit, having witnessed a super league club deal with close to 150 players the coaches just moved players on due to age or size just to cut the entries without even looking at them

SSG has created a great leader program in 5-10 years how many players will be left given there is little options available in the FFSA comp.

Under 18s will be part of the senior competition in 2013, therefore only one U18s team per club.
The FFSA said tonight that it is likely they will allow clubs to have under 17s if they want to next year.
There will be no under 19s next year but Reserves will remain as is rather than adopting the FFA model of changing it to Under 20s.
Re: where too for juniors in future
So there may be 17s(same), reserves will stay the same, but 19s will drop to 18s... What is the point of changing it then???themessenger wrote:robinfriday10 wrote:woulda thought x1 u18 team as they will play saturday morningfossil wrote:now to see clubs with 3 or 4 u18 teams made up of 16-18 year olds![]()

not sure if correct but aren't 19's allowed 3 overage players anyone know if the overage rule changes in 18's and make it strictly too age?
does this show the FFSA stuffed the system or has the FFA got it wrong
for the sake of 1 year clubs will be in the same boat in 2014 if they have to adopt the governing bodies wishes it will mean massive losses of players to all clubs and the FFSA add in another 200 players from 2013, 16's what a mess.
how many parents may want too shuffle kids to other codes or comps for the sake of 1 year

Can some simply walk to the offered Sat Div1? If so does that mean their juniors would join E&D? What happens here?

FFSA were quite clear that all 30 clubs are back on board for 2013. There were 28 clubs at the meeting last night. All 30 clubs will be offered a 3 year licence which then gives certainty that the leagues will be unchanged for the next 3 years, ie no new clubs allowed to enter the competition during that time, unless an existing FFSA club pulls out I guess. It also gives some certainty to those clubs wishing to invest in facilities for the longer term.

There will still be two junior leagues; JPL and JSL.
We'll have to wait and see, but this could mean that a lot of 16/17 year old players that are not quite up to the level required for Senior football (U18) and too old for U16 will miss out on a spot.
From a club perspective; we'd just like to have some long term certainty, we're all for change to improve things, but give us a couple of years to work with it.
How about the implementation of a 5 or 10 year plan, so that clubs can plan and prepare their junior and senior set-up for an extended period. I can't remember a year that hasn't had some sort of change, that has caused extra work and stress for volunteers.

From a parent's and player's perspective we would also like some long term certainty..... especially when trials are coming up in the not too distant future.Unless there's more to the info; all I see is everything stays the same, with the exception that there will be no U17's next year.

Importantly clubs need time to prepare and to advise their current and prospective players on what the structure will be.

It will come out in feb 2013on-side wrote:From a parent's and player's perspective we would also like some long term certainty..... especially when trials are coming up in the not too distant future.Unless there's more to the info; all I see is everything stays the same, with the exception that there will be no U17's next year.
Importantly clubs need time to prepare and to advise their current and prospective players on what the structure will be.

.
I think you will find that under 17's comps will be offered in 2013.
Re: where too for juniors in future
currently no u17 = no seniors, what age will the ffsa be telling clubs that no side = no seniors?
if u16 only is required and no enforcement with u17 will this reduce player quality?

I cannot for the life of me, understand this FFA obsession with age. Kids develop at vastly different rates and ages, dependent on a huge variety of factors, and all this does is favour the big, strong, early developers. For the smaller, later developers, it'll be too late and they'll already have quit or gone to amateurs, so please Lowy, explain to me how that helps the representative sides. They'll be full of big donkeys.
The Australian amateur associations must be rubbing their hands with glee.

But if you look at the development squads the majority of players are not big, but have fantastic skills.
They will not suffer but the kids a couple of rungs under them will.
After years of playing for their respective clubs, they may well be on the outer.
Re: where too for juniors in future
trials being announced soon which clubs will be holding their current 16's over to the 17's and who is taking the step of not having 17's at all?
clubs should be up front early so that players wanting to stay in the FFSA don't get stuffed around if the 17's were not too proceed.

Talking to a few U17/U19s around the traps and the prospect of 26-30 games and Year 12 is not filling them with enthusiasm.Nice One Cyril wrote:The Australian amateur associations must be rubbing their hands with glee.
SAASL club I'm associated with already talking to some of these guys.

The hitler-esque plan is good. Make the seniors or you're off to the Russian front.
And juniors must be awesome or join the reich youth and maybe be allowed to hold banners of support.
Definitely a plan to drive youth out of the sport, and fringe seniors and reserves to alternate competitions (which in SA aren't FFA affiliated).
Maybe SA need to work harder to get the non-affiliated groups on board instead of cucumber sandwiches and thigh slaps at west beach, or diverting funds into reclaiming swamp lands at Burton.
There needs to be a model, derived through consultation, which is developed and strategically moved forward, in the interests of the sports and the clubs.

I thought 17s and 19s were scrapped and replaced with 16, and 18s, what is there to be honest about I thought it was a done deal.
Re: where too for juniors in future
acity is advertising 17's for trials so how many other clubs are not doing the new system?
