Re: Uni-Metro points and teamsheets
Justice has been served. Respect to Fulham who respected the rules and declined to appeal and not exploit the precedence that had been set (and now thankfully closed).
Re: Uni-Metro points and teamsheets
Don't get too excited people. Uni has the right to appeal the appeal against their appeal, as part of the appeal process and with a legal firm as one of their major sponsors, what do you think will be the outcome??
Metro's celebrations maybe short lived. Stay tuned...

Re: Uni-Metro points and teamsheets
this is gold.
The introduction of an appeal is fine but the appeal should be based on was the rule appropriately applied if not then overturn the penalty and no comeback. You can argue punishment is unjust and get it reduced or mitigated but not in this case.
I like the process where you can question something and if you appeal and fail then penalty is doubled. This makes sure you dont screw around trying it out because there is no risk and you may get a friendly judge.
If at the time the appeal went through and the loophole was there ok still curious what it was but on what basis did metro appeal?
Reason I ask is
a) the dodgy rule existed
b) uni used it to get the points for a game they won.
c) now the rule has changed but can't be applied retrospectively.
I cannot see any argument on metros side other then they can prove the first appeal was not correct. not just we didnt like the result.
As for letting this thing drag on? I agree enough is enough FFSA get your shit together.

I don't think Metro are celebrating. They never asked to be put into this situation and it appears that there is quite a few clubs not happy with Uni taking this course of action.Fatboy wrote:Don't get too excited people. i don't think this 'loophole' issue ever existed to be honest.pc9999 wrote:this is gold.

No rules have been changed in recent times.
Metro obviously had an argument to appeal upon, because they won the appeal!
The rules have been correctly applied, and an appeal process has been followed. FFSA have acted within their rules. Its Uni, unlike Fulham and other clubs, who choose to challenge a black and white rule.
The issue is now over unless Uni decide to escalate further through which mechanism I'm not sure.
Re: Uni-Metro points and teamsheets
I am getting quite confused here...You make it sound like Uni did the right thing and Metro appealed, but it's the opposite! Uni is the club that appealed when a rule was correctly applied!!! So dear pc9999 you should ask yourself on what basis did they appeal??? Reading the rules, there was no dodgy rule, just dodgy people maybe. The rule was and is very clear and I still don't understand how/if it has been changed. If you know more than we do, maybe you want to tell everybody what was Uni's reason to appeal in the first place so we know why this "external body" let Uni get away with the whole thing...pc9999 wrote:this is gold.

I understand clubs that are upset with this whole thing, because it takes away all the credibility from the game. People just want to play and have a fair competition, maybe everyone except Uni that look like they just want to win at all costs. Aren't you supposed to teach the kids to respect rules??? Sorry but the club is just looking really arrogant...From where I stand, that's what I see:
1 They went out to recruit everyone under the sun basically ruining another club (Olympic)
2 Promised players that they'd get them in the W League (what will they do when they find out this is bulls?)
3 Have by far the "best team on papers" - no excuse if they don't win the league
4 Keep getting inexplicable gifts from linesmen and referees every time that they are not in front
5 Show no respect for the rules
6 Whine and moan when a rule is actually applied....
I'm sorry, but what message are they sending to the young players? That if you are "powerful" enough or you know the right people you can just walk all over anybody else? Shameful attitude, this is supposed to be SPORT. Read the rules, play by the rules, win by the rules (if you can). Just sayin...

I thought I was asking generally, I am in the dark.Bad Egg wrote:

I read there was some sort of loophole in the rule (in this thread).
I was just expressing my opinion.
in a nutshell if the rule had been incorrectly applied that would be the sole case for an appeal.Reading the rules, there was no dodgy rule, just dodgy people maybe. The rule was and is very clear and I still don't understand how/if it has been changed. If you know more than we do, maybe you want to tell everybody what was Uni's reason to appeal in the first place so we know why this "external body" let Uni get away with the whole thing...
If the appeal process was then flawed that would be another reason for appeal.
I am of the belief you cannot simply appeal ad infinitum until you get the result you want.
Sorry if my previous post was misunderstood.
As no one has come out with this is what happened, this was the reason it got reversed and this is the reason it got re-reversed. I can only speculate.
It seems a lot of people here know more than I about the recruiting process, I don't know but from what I have seen as a parent it isn't that much different between clubs and I am in the dark with regards to some of the higher caliber players.I understand clubs that are upset with this whole thing, because it takes away all the credibility from the game. People just want to play and have a fair competition, maybe everyone except Uni that look like they just want to win at all costs. Aren't you supposed to teach the kids to respect rules??? In the end FWIW my daughter enjoys playing and more so with her friends.
And she certainly understands the rules as a player.
