Riquelme back to Boca

Post by MSE_06 »

Coach Pellegrini and Riquelme have had their differences, consiquently resulting in Riquelme moving back to his beloved Boca Jnrs...

Villarreal bosses have reached an agreement with Boca Juniors for Juan Román Riquelme to join them on loan until the end of the season. This brings an end to a saga that started with a public falling-out with Chilean coach, Luis Manuel Pellegrini, who has not picked the former terrace-idol since the 17th December.

This, coupled with the almost-certain offer of a one-year extension to Pellegrini's contract, plus the arrival of Matias Fernández, have been the most significant factors in Riquelme's departure.

After sitting down with the rest of the squad in the dressing room while Pellegrini was out on the pitch waiting to start this morning's training session, Riquelme, who turned down a number of offers from Qatar-based clubs for a return to his home country, collected his belongings then left without saying goodbye to his former manager or speaking to the press, and is now on his way back to Argentina.
