SAASL Hot Weather Policy

Post by Ollo Ollo »

Too all clubs and players who are not aware of this, the SAASL has a hot weather policy. If the temperature is predicted to be 33 degrees on the Friday night news (not sure of Friday night of Saturday night), all games must kick off no later than 11am and no earlier than 5pm. I guess if clubs do decide to play in between these times then the league will not provide a ref and the game is probably not covered by the leagues insurance.

I believe in the last 2 weeks or so, the league has attempted to call all clubs to inform them of this policy.

yes, you'll find this is the FFSA policy - which now that the SAASL Referees and Clubs are members of, is the appropriate policy..

Find it at http://www.ffsa.com.au - policies

Forecast is basically taken 48 hours prior to games - ie saturday games use thursday night forecast, sunday games friday night forecast.

Will be interesting to see how closely followed this policy is within the Amateur League given that most clubs do not have the facilities to play their pre-season friendlies in the evening.

We've changed our game to 5pm this week on mutual terms, (Cheers Mick) but surely its still gonna be as hot when we finish as it woulda been at 3pm!
Strange rule.
plenty of water and water breaks as they did in the world cup.
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil! :-)

might have to kick off at 7am then :P

dont really like the rule, but rules are rules.

Why cant they just have extra drinks breaks and keep the games at the same time?
