Westies 4- knights 1
Frustrating watching 1-1 at half time with Knights playing some excellent football but lack of discipline on the park and on the sidelines letting themselves down.
Reserves was 6 - 0 to Westies, was 0-0 until a dubious penalty followed by a send off changed the game and player's attitudes.
Can't argue as I am guilty!
From what I saw..... Westies B's ref set the tone for the day.... beware all who visit there, he will send you off given half an excuse and he will give weak penalties.... the penalty fires you up and that leads to the send off! You have been warned! Good little club but B's ref, well.... he doesn't fit...shame!!!!
With the injustices fresh in the mind of the Knights A's they then proceded to dominate the first half.... and anyone who say differently must be from another planet. Unfortunately, as we all know domination doesn't always mean winning or scoreing and we have had two recent examples of that in the champions league. Westies, to their credit, took a scrappy first half lead which the Knights pegged back with sublime Mooney strike. Second half with the ref struggling to keep up with the game and getting further and further away as it progressed he then allowed two Weaties players, who were 4 yards offside, run in on goal. The poor young official trainee linesman correctly had his flag up but was totally ignored by ref. Ref then bizarrely decided to dish out yellow cards as a perverse reaction to his error when players appealed. This changed the tone of the game which the Knights were dominating. Very very frustrating and would have confused the hell out of the linesman.... as it did everyone! Lets hope the assessor got it right... ref (G.K.) needs some direction I'm afraid..... he has always been controversial. Westies took advantage and looked a different team in the second half but never 4-1 better, but much hungier in front of goal. The Knights are rebuilding with so many new players and definitely have the quality and have shown this for the first 45 minutes in all three games to date.... a little faith and hard work will see them through! Point taken but KEEP THE FAITH SWANNY!

Completely agree, it was a good quality game. Beograd came back hard in the second half, but we were excellent defensively.Delije Sever wrote:B's

Good game to watch, very competitive, Blue Eagles looking better overall, dominated the first half in particular went 2:0 up. Second half much better by Beograd, but could not find a solution for a very good blue eagles deffence.
The Reserves game was good as well, with Beograd coming from 2-0 down and only for us to find a winner with about 10 to go.

Re: results sunday 29/4/12
Another home game for us this week saw 5 games played at Walkley Park, first time ever for that. A few change room issues which we will need to sort out but a good day all round
A's V Pontian 2-1
A spirited fight back from our guys saw us get over the line in a tough match. Pontian certainly haven't gone backwards from last year and took their chance well to lead the first half 1-0. They created a bit more in the first than us and deserved their lead. After some gentle words of encouragement at half time, we came out more deteremined with Jonesy scoring early in the second half. About 10 mins later we picked up a soft free kick which Evan scored from. The game opened up with Pontian throwing me forward looking for an equaliser leaving us a few opportunities to increase the lead but couldn't do so. Great backs against the wall win for us with a lot of players missing today. We've now played probably the 3 best teams in the league based on predictions and come away with 4 points, setting up our season well.
B's V Pontians 3-0
A little flat from the B's today but deserved the win. With players moving up to the A's, it was going to be difficult against a tough Pontian side. The scoreline again flattered us slightly as we scored two late goals but thats what good teams do. Its also the 3rd clean sheet of the season which is impressive.
C's V Pontians 0-1
Played well today but just couldn't score, the story of the boys season thus far. Gave away a silly goal but did create a lot of chances. Shooting practice might be on the cards this week for the boys.
D's V Brahma Lodge 2-1
Two very well taken goals by Jason saw the kids take a hard fought win. On the small pitch, it was a little scrappy but the boys harassed the Bra boys into a few mistakes. Some very good goalkeeping kept us in the game. A great goal was a long free kick played in with a perfectly timed run to score the first. Lodge scored a well worked goal to create some danger in the final 15 but Farm held firm. Well down to the boys who have strung two wins together.
Womens V Flinders Flames 3-1
Only saw 5 minutes of the game but a great result for the girls and another game when they had more than 11 players!!
Thanks to the Pontian boys for sticking around after the game and supporting the Bar and BBQ all day. We will make sure that we do the same in the return game.

Re: results sunday 29/4/12
Very disappointing day again for the Knights, in the First Team, as mentioned we once again started well and had the better of the first half. With regards to the second goal, whilst it's true two players were offside, they didn't actually score from this move, equally Para Hills were denied a very clear penalty in the lead up. Whilst we have had better referees we have also had worse and the referee had no bearing on the result. The send off was due to frustration and was for two yellow cards due to dissent
Unfortunately what I believe would have been a very good contest in the reserves was ruined by a terrible decision in the first 10 minutes, resulting in a penalty and send off! Knights showed character in the second half at 5-0 down probably had as many chances as West, also missing a penalty and conceding a late goal

My comment was more directed at the narrow minded post celebrating or gloating at the reserve result, and given I believe Maco's reserves were depleted, it's not good form.grumpy wrote:

I've been a reserve coach and know how important the team is to a club but I also understood the reserve result means nothing if the 1st team don't win, and if the reserve coach doesn't grasp that, then it's he who is narrow minded.
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil!

Credit you guys in the a's. Goal down, dubious first goal but given anyway so that was done and dusted. Brahma never really got out of first gear all day. Very sluggish performance. Look forward to seeing you guys in the return leg.A.V.N.M wrote:Western Strikers v Brahma Lodge

I think u will find that the comment made did not come from someone associated with Florina. Credit to Macos first team though, looked a much different team to the one we played in preseason. Noticed a few new faces, one of which I believe had returned after playing with inter in preseason?carra23 wrote:My comment was more directed at the narrow minded post celebrating or gloating at the reserve result, and given I believe Maco's reserves were depleted, it's not good form.grumpy wrote:
