The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in football to make him do any work.

Anyone know why Sturt Marion forfeited?
Looks like the Flinders teams took a bit of a battering first round

Re: Round 1 Cup Results
With Sturt Marion Forfeiting, do they still go into the consolation cup?

Which ones are that didn't go to plan?????
Adelaide City Res 2 Para Hills United Div 2 3
Adelaide Hills Res 0 Seaford Div 1 5
Para Hills East Div 2 2 Gawler Div 1 1
Re: Round 1 Cup Results
Gawler are very disappointed wit our results. Played most of second half wit only 10 players after a shit call by the ref and 7 on the sideline the young girls held out very well. Easties were lucky to take the last goal in the last 5 of the game.
Good luck to all teams who go into round 2.

I don't think PHE was "lucky" to win. They did create several chances and miss some easy scoring opportunities. As for the send off, it was a blatant tackle from behind that brought a player down on her way to goal. The referee had no choice and I'm sure that Gawler would have expected the same result (send off) if the situation would have been reverse.

I'm not surprised PHU beat City reserves. PHU are playing well below their level in div 2.pc9999 wrote:basically I expected the reserves to beat the lower divsEnrique wrote:pc9999

I'm also not surprised Adelaide Hills Res lost to Seaford div 1. Adl hills finished below seaford last year in div 1 and somehow got promoted.

Re: Round 1 Cup Results
To answer Nanster comment of Adelaide Hills "somehow got promoted" thought I would just clarify.
Last year Adelaide Hills had a state leauge and and Div 1 team.
This year we have a Res team only as we have 4 over aged players that had no team, the rest of the team comprises of U17 and a goal keeper still eligilble for U15.
If we didn't nominate a senior team these 4 would have gone elsewhere or just not played.
We were going to be in the State league, then this was combined with the Res teams.
The Prems teams were not happy with this as it would have meant that the Res would not have followed their Prem teams. We were then told we (meaning all the State teams) could either be in Prems or would have to go into Div 1.
As we are no where near the Prem teams abilities or have the support that Prem clubs have, ie meaning players, we then chose Div 1.
But then when the new listing came out saying that Sturt Marion only have a Prems team and not a Reserves team (which we always thought you needed both) and also the intro of the U15/16 team into Prems, we thought outside the box and thought why couldn't we be say Sturt Marions "Reserve" team as long as we were our own club and played home games at the Hawks nest. This gave the Reserve division one less bye and FFSA were happy with this.
We know this will be a tough season and we will have more losses than wins but thats not important.
We have had 3 games so far a draw against the Flinders Flames Prems team a draw against the Cumby Res team and now a big loss against Seaford Div 1.
I was proud of all my girls in this game and they didnt give in. I thought the 5 nil score line was a little harsh, not taking anything away from Seaford, who are a well organised and physical team who seem like they have played together for a while, I could be wrong, and when my team consists of mainly 16 year olds we have alot of learning to do.During the game our keeper was hit, not deliberatly, but by a errant knee or boot to the head very early on in the game. She didnt complain and just got on with it and made some great saves. Thats how all the girls played.
Important to us is for the girls to learn and for them to enjoy their soccer, perhaps people should stop always trying to find fault in clubs or teams and mayby support them.

It wasn't a blatant tackle from behind and the ref even said that to the player. He also told her yes she may have got the ball but the card was given because she was last player not for a bad tackle. You were just happy that their best player was sent off.
Good luck in round 2....

Stop your whinging, doesnt matter what calls the ref makes during the game you should play soccer with 11, 10 or 9 players on the field.killa11 wrote:Enrique
