Referees
Can anybody tell me if the Women's league have enough referees??
Reason why I'm asking is that my daughter plays for Elizabeth Downs and 2 weeks running we have had no referee and apart from the coaches nobody else can do it...

Re: Referees
I think there arent enough referees to cover every game. Quite often junior and womens/girls lower div games are without a referee for their games

Re: Referees
Last year only 1 in every four of my games had ref's!!! The lower you go in div's the worse it it, which i don't beleive is fair. I know it does get demoralising for them turning up every week and not having a decent game due to fill in refs (though appreciative of having a ref).
Re: Referees
no referee for munno para v raiders yesterday. With no prems games i would have thought more referees would have been available

Re: Referees
I managed to tee up a ref only to find he was unable to do it as he is registered for edjsa which isn't affilliated with ffsa. It makes you want to scream out FOR FUCKS SAKE AUSTRALIA. What is it with these affilliations to me we are all involved in Football regardless of what associations we are with.
I'm just sorry for the kid that turned up.

Re: Referees
Can someone plz let me know if no ref rocks up and someone else does it do they have to do Everything that and official ref would do, like check boots talk to both teams and talk to the linesman to make sure they know wat their doing?
Munno para Div 1 again had no ref and the one who stood in was not very good. Even his own team were saying he was bias towards them.
Its very disappointing that there was no ref.
Ive played for 12yrs now and never have i been playing in a Div 1 or higher game and had no official...
Also forgot to mention the fact both linesman were 12yrs old and that wasn't the issue the issue was the stand in ref allowed it and never spoke to either of them and completely ignored both of them wen they made calls.
I'm not taking away the effort that either team put in and not complaining bout the score but am just trying to make aware of wat happened.
The association needs to fix this problem. Its not fair on either teams who pay their fed costs to play and you can't even supply a ref

Re: Referees
I've played Div 1 for a few years and last year we had at least 5-6 games without a ref and yesterday we had didn't have one rock up...
There is a massive shortage of refs in the league though and FFSA have been trying to work on the issue for quite a while though - most times they are quite good in advising on the Thursday if the game will/wont have a ref but like most social divs that sometimes struggle to even get a linesman to then try and find a ref when one has been appointed and doesnt rock up is near impossible and very frustrating!!

Re: Referees
And in saying that though no Div 1 side asked to be put in a social division that's just wat it was renamed so why should we suffer.
There has got to be then 15 referees who can ref on a Sunday!
I get that there may be a shortage but why should one team have no official for at least two weeks in a row.
A stand in ref should act the same as an official ref and still by the same rules that an official would do, this ref did not.

Re: Referees
He can still Ref the game for you, the same as if you grabed a parent from amongst the spectators. Just make sure he is not wearing anything with EDJSA on it, I.E he is acting privately. You can still offer recompense for his time.

The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in football to make him do any work.

Re: Referees
the young lad who ran the line yesterday put his flag up every time the ball was played forward. The girl running the line in the first half was actually 21 years of age but had never done it before. I don't want to have a go at either as it is hard enough to get a ref who gets paid let alone two ppl to run the line for free

Turned up to watch the Salisbury Inter Div 3 game, the game kicked off 45 mins late as the offical, whom had just finished the earlier game, advised he required a break before commencing the 2nd game = 45mins :?

I would be getting the delegate to submit a report to FFSA. 5 minutes for a drink should be enough.jonnomath wrote:NEeded a rest to do a women's game??? The Ref should be fit enought to do two games back to back, they apparently have compulsry training twice a week.

Re: Referees
That young boy runs the line quite a bit and until yesterday has never been ignored so much. Never has he had a complaint against him, he atleast knew the damn rules.
As the ref its your job to make sure they know wat their doing hey. And if she had no idea then u as the ref should have told them wat the rule was. He was doing the right thing and even a couple of the opposition said the same thing.
The way that young boy was blatantly ignored pretty much Everytime he put his flag up and you didn't even face him or acknowledge him and left him standing at the halfway line wit his flag up for 5mins while play continued away from him.
U as a ref can't leave him standing there while play continues down the park, you need to acknowledge the call weather right or wrong.

Re: Referees
He started the div 4 game before that about 10 mins late, played a long first half, had a long half time break, then took a long break between games too, and played the div 3 game too long. Lucky we didn't have the boys at home in the arvo :?haywood djablowme wrote:Turned up to watch the Salisbury Inter Div 3 game, the game kicked off 45 mins late as the offical, whom had just finished the earlier game, advised he required a break before commencing the 2nd game = 45mins :?

Re: Referees
That's strange, since someone from Gawler told me he's only run the line a handful of times.killa11 wrote:That young boy runs the line quite a bit and until yesterday has never been ignored so much. Never has he had a complaint against him, he atleast knew the damn rules.

Re: Referees
Don't no who told ya that but he's run the line for gawler quite a few times and him being a goal keeper he knows his offside rules.
Regardless of the linesman's the ref DID NOT do his job properly.
I'm all for ppl stepping up to help out as long as they know wat the actual rules are and do exactly as an official would.
From wat i was told gawler weren't even informed there was no ref

Re: Referees
Several years ago sawsa came up with the suggestion that all clubs have to nominate at least one person per club to do a referee's course, to referee your home games -course all paid for by sawsa.
I was one of about a dozen that did the course.
This was to ensure that you would be there to ref, if you couldnt get one for your home games.
Great idea, however I was not happy when, at the end of the course I was told by the Referees Assoc. that I will only Ref the games that were allocated me, by them ?....wtf
I told them i did the course to help out my club, and I would only referee there.
Cut a long story short, we didnt agree,I was so ticked off, I did not end up refereeing any games.

Re: Referees
Interestingly E&D referees association run by volunteers manages to have a Referee at every game, have not missed one for years apparently. Yet a proffesional orginisation like FFSA cant manage to do it.

Re: Referees
All men's amateur clubs must have "qualified" club referees to do the reserves and if no ref turns up the a's as well. We never get official reserve refs but always get an a's refThe General wrote:Several years ago sawsa came up with the suggestion that all clubs have to nominate at least one person per club to do a referee's course, to referee your home games -course all paid for by sawsa.

Re: Referees
And I am sure the saasl ref's assoc does not say to those club referees that you will ref the games we tell you ? Which defeats the purpose of the whole idea in the first place.King Elijah wrote:All men's amateur clubs must have "qualified" club referees to do the reserves and if no ref turns up the a's as well. When was the last time that FFSA had a Ref at every game on a Saturday or a Sunday?
When was the last time that a club did not have to run around at the last minute to organise a Ref?
