Played on 11th February

10:30am KO
Ingle Farm 5
Ingle Farm 1

12:30 KO
Ingle Farm 2
Ingle Farm 1

A mixed day for the boys. We managed to win 2 games but did lose two games. Haha

Just internal trial games for us as the Wanderers pulled out.

We (Asteras) are trying to set up trial matches with Unley and Imbros but can't get a ground without a cricket pitch. The pitches aren't being covered up until the end of March so can't use the grounds.

Is anyone else having this problem?

And does anyone have a ground available and want a trial match?

Was a good game. We, Pontians will be around the mark and I saw a few people from West Beach watching the game interested to hear what they thought!!!

Hey Furburger, I know a few years ago we played some pre-season games up at a ground at Athelstone(behind the Athelstone football club) maybe that might be a option.....you've also got the ground where we played you guys last year...Magill campus

Onthepissagain if you are refering to Croatia to beat Pontians this year they might have a chance as any team has. Must admit was suprised that we beat you so easy last year, but that was last year so lets see what happens. If your not from Croatia then where are ya from?

Id say he is from west beach... Croatia wouldnt make such bold statements this early in the year.

Think you should just concentrate on your own game at West Beach and try and get out of Div 2 for the 1st time in years.

Thanks for the suggestion and we shall try. However, we don't have the luxury of forking out the dosh to lure the big players to the club or get a star import from the super league half way through the season.

West beach has a great club atmosphere where the focus on the football is more than matched by the focus on the piss up :)

I am sure West Beach is a good club - it has been around for years - my comment was directed at onthepissagain not West Beach the club.

Fulham have some ex players who have gone over to West Beach this year as they didn't want to play in DIV 1 and we wish them all the best there.

I dont have a problem with clubs who dont have the desire to fight there way into DIV 1 - some clubs are just happy to stay DIV 2 or lower.

That's a bit of a cop out to those lads that have come out to the beach, that is, to say that they came over cause they didn't want to play DIV 1. That is NOT the reason that they came over but more about club politics and atmosphere down at fulham. Don't know if this is true, as I think Fulham is a good club and have a good bunch of lads...... but it's untrue that these lads left cause they didn't want to play first division, who wouldn't want to play first division????

Also, the desire is there to go to the first div, just a matter of putting the results on the board and slogging away..... Will be tough this year with Pontians in the league as they are a very good team. Maybe we could come third this year and get a free ride up :)

Well all the best this year at West Beach - wouldn't mind u guys coming up as it is 1 less trip up North.

Well you were 10 mins away from being in DIV 1 at West Beach - if you held on for a draw in the last game against us you would have come 3rd instead of us - but 10 mins has cost you another season in DIV 2 and thats football as they say.

That's fair enough.... You guys came home strong from an ordinary start, so if anyone went up, you guys deserved it. All the best for this year.

Playford 5 - vale 2.

Vale Boys unfit, but played very well - especially first half.
Chris Nicholls quality, as well as Rick and Tim Crawford. All should be playing at least premier league.

Dont want to get involved in any mud slinging as i had a good time at Fulham and would say the Big Pond is one of the nicest guys i have met since i came to OZ, but i had a phone call today from a 3rd party who told me that i was being shit canned by someone at Fulham. To clarify the point about players going from Fulham to West beach as best i can, 2 players didnt want too play 1st div another two waited too find out where these guys were going then joined them at WB, 2 were going to join USC and one was undecided but in hearing that the other 4 were going to WB they jumped on the bandwagon.

Players move for varying reasons from every club season on season some were unhappy and wanted a change others didnt want to play 1st div simple as that.

The Adelaide vikings drew 1 all with the Western strikers 23s on tuesday night. The vikings were on top for most of the game. The strikers have alot of work to do if they want to be competetive in the premier league!
