Re: Sat Rd 1 Results 14/4/2012
I was at the Salisbury vs Stirling Game today. The conduct of a number of the players and spectators was absolutely disgusting. You cannot blame a referee for giving a red card for stomping on a player. A number of the players did their best to intimidate the ref, and the goalkeeper should have got a red card for his conduct. He threatened the ref directly and I would happily attest to that.
When the fracca started the Salisbury player who was red carded the first half was sprinting down the line towards the fight with a bottle in his hand. I have no doubts his intentions. To the Salisbury player on the field who intercepted him I say well done. There were a few cool heads who tried to stop the fight, so credit to them where it's due.
To the Salisbury players & officials I would ask you to think about how you want to be seen in the league. You will always be judged on the worst of your group, so i would encourage you to get rid of the idiots who are giving your club a bad name.
I've played soccer all my life, and have never been involved in something so ridiculous.
Grown men abused and punched one of the Stirling spectators who was taking photos. The camera wasn't the issue guys. It's your behaviour which the camera is catching. The fact that you were so incensed about the camera shows that you knew how bad it was.
In the end we all give up our Saturdays to play the game we love. Incidents like this spoil the game.
For what it's worth. Well done Stirling for keeping your heads on with all the ridiculousness going on.

I think the point that Major Tom was trying to make is that the ref didn't hit anyone so he doesn't need to be held accountable for anything. When will players learn that the Ref is the boss and what he says goes. Right or wrong decision just play the whistle.
I cannot believe I am hearing that a Stirling spectator got hit for taking photos. He did not do any crime. Where does it state in the rules that a spectator cannot take photographs? Sports people all over the world get their picture taken while they are playing but the camera man doesn't get thumped for it.

Salisbury Villa...
same shit another year. These guys clearly always resort to violence when things don't go their way.
As they say, past behaviour usually indicates future behaviour.

Not the worst result given neither team had a proper keeper but still disappointing.....
It was a good game, played in the right spirit. Thanks for hosting.

Re: Sat Rd 1 Results 14/4/2012
With respect to the violent incident at villa the league must conduct a very thorough investigation and adopt a zero tolerance policy toward excessive violence from any club. The fact that Sailsbury Villa have a record of this sort of behaviour does not reflect well on the club. Another incident for the soccer hating media to get their hands on.
Re: Sat Rd 1 Results 14/4/2012
My two cents regarding the S.Villa debacle.
First I would like to state that there is indeed two sides to every story, and the only people who have the right to express their version of events are those who were there to see it. To the rest of you who are jumping at the chance to condemn Salisbury Villa as the only party at fault here, and call for their heads, I say settle down and make sure you have all the facts before you willingly jump on that band wagon.
I was there, I saw everything and I attempted to break things up and calm things down.
In saying that, the Stirling reps on here are absolutely kidding themselves if they are trying to portray themselves as the innocent victims here. The whole debacle was started when the No.16 Stirling player punched the Salisbury Villa player from behind. Stirling can deny this all they want, but it happened in full view of everyone. This in turn started a melee between the players, and this is when the Stirling spectator/reserves player grabbed the camera and started taking pictures of the Salisbury Villa players on the park. Contrary to what the Stirling reps want to say, this person was not taking leisurely snaps of the whole game. He purposely grabbed his camera and started taking pictures of the S.Villa players after a melee broke out which was started by a Stirling player.
The 'camera man' was then approached by another spectator and a disagreement broke out over the use of the camera. The spectator having the disagreement with the camera man was then punched by another Stirling spectator/reserves player from behind and his head was split open and blood was streaming down his face. This started another melee between the spectators until the club officials were able to control things and break it up. At no point were any of the S.Villa officials involved in any fighting or arguing, and for the Stirling reps to make these accusations is ridiculous. The officials should be praised for controlling and diffusing a volatile situation that could have been much worse considering the number of people there.
So indeed every story has two sides. It's easy for everyone to condemn Salisbury Villa based on a ban we served 10 years ago. There are many officials and committee members who have worked tirelessly to build this club back up again and to come onto a public forum and slander these good men and woman is ludicrous. I too have played football for many years and have never laid a hand on an opposition player. Why? Because I don't like being hit myself. The Stirling No.16 who punched the Villa player from behind would have known full well that his actions would have got a reaction.
The trouble that started had nothing to do with the refs performance, the red card that was issued, or the players arguing with the ref. All these things, whether deemed right or wrong, are common occurrences in the game we play. The trouble occurred because one Stirling player and spectator decided that it was their right to hit another person without consequence or accountability. The fact that the Stirling reps have taken it upon themselves to come on this forum, and totally ignore the actions of their own, whilst condemning S.Villa as the only party at fault, says a lot about their club culture. Save your tales and yarns for the local and keep to only reporting the facts if you wish to use this forum. And to those of you who's first point of opinion is to call for Villa's blood and have us kicked out of the league, smarten up and make sure you have all the facts so your opinions can be substantial and unbiased.

Re: Sat Rd 1 Results 14/4/2012
So the truth finally comes out.
Sounds like a Stirling player decided to take things into his own hands and retaliate (to a bad challenge perhaps... ? which in itself warrants a send-off) and in doing so aggravates an already volatile situation on the field... BOOM... it explodes from there. Why would you do something stupid like that if: a.) you're leading and the game is almost finished; b.) you know based on the past that S Villa resort to physical violence IF pushed far enough ???
THEN a Stirling supporter aggravates an already volatile situation off-field and it explodes there as well. 9 out of 10 S. Villa supporters probably didn't see how one of their supporters ended up with a cut on his head after confronting the 'camera guy'... all they would have seen is blood... and we know what happens when people see red!
As a neutral, I'd be disappointed to see only one side kicked out. Kick them both out or deduct 20 points off both to ensure relegation!

Re: Sat Rd 1 Results 14/4/2012
Your idea is a bit too simplistic. There are teams that seem to get in trouble a lot, Stirling don't seem to be one of these teams. If trouble starts it's often impossible to stop both teams getting involved what are you supposed to do stand and watch a team mate getting beaten up? Last year Seaford were involved in a big fight with a well known trouble making club. Being a local rival, we have played Seaford many times over the last 12 or so years and have never had an issue with them. I agree with a very firm policy but the League must also take into account prior records
Are you Bodo in disguise?
Re: Sat Rd 1 Results 14/4/2012
So what if he was taking photos you biff, we live in free world dominated by social media and because your lame players are doing something wrong you feel a need to try and take the evidence that will prove what a bunch of biffs you are. Snap away everyone and anyone when you see this crap at a sporting event and then hand them to the league and police and then watch you try a get out of that with please dont do that again. A public place in a free world he can take what ever he wants, waa waa waa he took photos of us being complete crankers.....waa waa waa.....

Re: Sat Rd 1 Results 14/4/2012
A reasonable person would have thought that all clubs would be keeping their heads down after what's gone on in the last few months.
I would suggest that judging "guilt" (as such) should be on the actions, and then handing down punishment/justice dependent on past history is a better way to go, as per most legal systems in the world...Knight15 wrote:Your idea is a bit too simplistic. I guess it is always going to be easy to point the finger at the "same" teams all the time. And it may be the case that the "same" teams are causing the trouble most of the time. But, I am sure that there are many top guys involved down at Salis Villa as well as Stirling and as the case goes most the time, it is usually due to to the actions of a select few that put these fiery games into disripute. I play for and am involved with a club that has carried the "bad boy" image for many seasons. We as a club have worked very hard to turn this around. It may be a case for the clubs involved to just get rid of the trouble makers and the individuals that embarrass and tarnish the image of their club. This has worked for us. I cant comment on the Salis Villa v Stirling game as I was not there, but this problem we have in our game is the top topic of conversation for the SAASL and I hope it gets sorted out with out too much drama. But lads, FFS, leave the referees out of it!! Threatening their safety is not on!! These guys should be welcomed with open arms to your club and looked after. Without these guys, there is no soccer...period.
THERE IS NO ONE BIGGER THAN THE CLUB... F**K OFF THE TROUBLE MAKERS!! EVERY ONE WILL BENEFIT, EVEN YOUR OWN CLUB.
PS.. Congrats to the Cougars on a great start to the year!! Keep it up lads!!

Knight15, RE Stirling not getting in trouble, you are probably going by what you read here... given that they play in a different division to you guys. They are definitely no angels and their supporters have some of the biggest mouths in Sat Div 1... admittedly though, not quite as bad as Sals Villa!
As for the camera, people absolutely have a right to take photos and some of them do a fantastic job (e.g. Swanny). Macedonia used to record games on a video camera when I played them a few times. No issue whatsoever.
However, I have an issue with taking photos with the intent of implicating the opposing players/supporters after your own team starts a fight. Where are the photos of the Stirling #16 punching/shoving the Sals Villa player? Where are the photos of how the Sals Villa got a cut on his head? etc...
Purely being the devil's advocate here. I actually dislike both teams.
