USC LION to Div 2!

Move USC Lion to Div 2 immediately.

They have 2 teams, so they qualify.
I understand that previously they could only field one team so asked to be relegated to Div 5.
Now they appear in Div 4?

You can't just do that.

To top it off its a silly setup to have. 11or 12 teams in Div 4 and only 8 in Div 2.

Shambles by SAASL.

There is still time to correct this, and it should be done fast.

This leaves the door open for any team to take the SAASL to court over not following their own regulations!

My opinion only though.

This has been discussed to death in other threads, but the crux of it is this:

SAASL won't change it unless all 9 remaining Div 2 teams go to them and demand it. Apparently so far only 3-4 clubs have piped up.

Why?? Its done now why cant some of the other teams in div 4 just deal with it and get on with playing football? Will you all be having a sook if you beat us?? or will your teams feel like gods gift to the amatuer league? Toughen up

I think its more the Div 2 teams are pissed becuase off they have 2 byes this season becuase of your club.....

You sure it's that or are there clubs who are too scared to rock the boat?

I don't know about you but if our club was in Div 2 a lot of our boys wouldn't be happy with the current arrangement given the relative ease it could be fixed....

Falcon is correct but obviously Lion have the golden touch when it comes to the SAASL...Good luck to them,
there are a lot of teams out there that would be jealous of their favouritism.

The majority of us plebs just have to do as told...

I am over it now...Lets just move on and enjoy the season ahead.

No player in their right mind would be happy with 2 less games in the season.....Players "Pay"to Play.

The fact is its unfair on other teams to swap and change as u please
You will find they will struggle for numbers as the season gets on
Two teams means div 2 easy as that
Hopefully justice prevails and they get relegated

Of course Lion should play in Div 2 again!! They have two teams now!! Totally agree. But, it looks like it will be a 9 team comp this year unfortunately... I think we just accept that this is how it will be this season. With 2 days before the commencement of Round 1, IMO, I cant see too much happening now. And honestly, do you really want to take it to the extent of a court battle with the SAASL?? FFS, there is more important things in life to focus on than that... surely???

Why? Because you'll disband again and then find a 2nd team to resume in Div 4 if it happens?

You've upset a lot of people in the league with your selfish actions. Twice you've received preferential treatment from the league (with this scenario and also with the switch across from Sundays).

You're all screwing up a club with (what was) a rich history.

I hope you meet a Div 2 side in the cup so they can show you just what your petulance means to them

Just give the "New" USC Lion a chance. If you were starting a two team club from scratch you would be placed in Div 4. This is basically what Lion have done. Same name, entirely new committee, players etc. It is the leagues fault for not making Div2 a 10 team comp. It's easy to sit back and take pot shots at Lion, especially after the debacle over their transition from Sundays to Saturdays. This is a completely new club, the new committee had nothing to do with it (switch of playing days). They have 1 possibly 2 first team players from a side that just survived Div2 last season. Trying to rebuild would be almost impossible if they were constantly being smashed each week. Time to get off Lion's back. It is the league who should have made Div 2 a ten team comp. Infact the new committe should be commended, firstly for saving the club and secondly for building two teams in such a short space of time. The league had ample time to replace them in Div2.

I must apologize.

After talking to a friend who plays for Pt Pirie and played USC Lion on Saturday, it is clear that this is a club in a complete rebuilding stage.
He managed to get a glimpse of the reserves games and USC Lion had nothing to offer. A true lack of depth.

Their A team was better but nothing to write home about.

They have about four players that stand out. 3 of them have been around the traps and are know the other is unknown.

Their striker is really good. A bit on the heavy side but great talent. Deadly from set shots.
Their keeper awesome. Very vocal and is their 12th man really.
They have a midfield player who came on late that player well. Has a great shot on him and got a late concilation goal.

The stand out was their sweeper/center back. Very small, very skinny and nothing like a center back, but close quickly and covers extremely well.

The rest of the team would be regular reserve players in other teams.

So my apologies go out to USC Lion. I take back the criticism I implied.
I hope you grow to be the successful club you once were.
