Australia V Denmark
about as frustrating as watching AU
3-0 to Denmark at half time. Defense is a mess

federation website paints a fairly pretty picture.
"Strange half really with Denmark basically outstanding going forward and really causing the Australian defence a lot of problems. Two of their goals were from superb one-touch build-ups and another a superb shot from a mistake.
The game is closer than the scoreline suggests, with Australia having two goals disallowed, one of which looked a little tough, while Aloisi has been denied on several occasions and stretched the Danish defence"
have the soccerroos been okay

we were murderd for going foward to much and leaving the young defenders unprotected at the back....

aloisi was our only threat up front really....

We have improved in leaps and bounds over the last 3 or so years, however you add 4 retirements to 5-6 out and that's almost a full time. We have nowhere near the depth of other countries but our best 11 will give a good account of themselves. We will only do well at the Asian Championship if we have our best players available the side last night wouldn't win it!

The Qantas Socceroos suffered a 3-1 loss in their first international match for 2007 against former European Champions Denmark at Loftus Road, London, this morning.
Australian coach Graham Arnold was without the services of eight key players from the initial squad of 20 including, Michael Beauchamp, Mark Bresciano, Jason Culina, Craig Moore, Lucas Neill, Mark Schwarzer, Mark Viduka and Luke Wilkshire.
Defender Brett Emerton captained the senior side for the first time having skippered the Qantas Under 23s at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
Denmark fielding a near full strength team, raced to a three goal lead through a double from Jon Dahl Tomasson either side of a strike from Werder Bremen midfielder Daniel Jensen.
Australia had two goals disallowed in the first half with defender Michael Thwaite and striker John Aloisi both denied. Mile Sterjovski struck the crossbar early in the second half before Emerton scored a goal five minutes from full time with a well executed free-kick from just outside the penalty area.
The match marked the 50th senior national team appearance for Josip Skoko and Aloisi.
Australia will play home matches against Uruguay at Sydney’s Telstra Stadium on June 2 and Argentina at the MCG on June 6.
The matches will be held prior to Australia competing in the 2007 AFC Asian Cup to be jointly held in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam July 7-29. Australia have been drawn against Oman, Iraq and Thailand with all group matches to be played in Bangkok.

To be honest I dont think even with the best players available that Australia will win it with Graham Arnold in charge. To have people like Graham Arnold and Frank Farina in charge is an indication that Australia still have a long way to go. A short Term goal should be securing a coach capable of coaching a team towards succes which excludes pretty much every Australian coach.Knight7 wrote:We have improved in leaps and bounds over the last 3 or so years, however you add 4 retirements to 5-6 out and that's almost a full time. Australian football firstly needs to bring in many proffesionals from overseas to help develop the game in all areas especially regarding the youth system. Then through time Australian based professionals will be capable of improving the game through the help of Overseas professionals. It is disgraceful that A league clubs have no youth ranks. Every Serious club worldwide has a youth system even the English Confrence league teams have youth systems yet the Australian top league dosent. Players should be develped PROPERLY from when they are young, they shouldnt just be picked out from the local league at the age of 20 because they are half decent players and good enough for the low profile Australian game. So by implementing youth ranks in A league clubs scouts can bring the quality youths to the club and they can be trained while they are young. This may be an expensive process but if Australia wish to have the depth to compete at International level constantly this is a must. In order to enable long term succes Australian football needs to look at the future and and has to get of this current Day to Day system. The only way Australia will ever have the depth is if they start from scratch. Football in Australia has improved in terms of advertsising but not in terms of player quality and development. its time to for the federation and clubs to take some big steps so that the youngsters here in Australia have more motive to play the game. Its the only way forward.

Sorry, not good enough for me!
What ever team you put on the park, you go out to win and we've done so much and spent so much to get recognition in the world game. So to be happy losing 3-1 ( as Arnold was ) does'nt cut it with me and does nothing for Australias reputation!
Treat friendly games with no respect and we end up like years gone by
