You'd certainly think that Andy Carroll would be a better defender than forward. Maybe he could take Carra's spotThe Kop wrote:

Marado has no idea when it come to the game.
He thinks all the players are robots and defenders cant go over half way anymore and everytime a team scores against his its the defence's fault.

Napoli don't often lose at home and like I said previously, results are fair over the two legs, but your naivety in this matter is obvious.
How can you be so sure you would have won? - Ashley Cole doesn't clear the shot from Maggio in the first leg and the tie is different.
Do you honestly think you will go much further unless you get APOEL or Benfica??
Your team is an ageing one with players that are over priced and overpaid. We took you to within inches with a budget less than half of yours. I would be embarrassed if I were you.

I dont think you understand what he meant. He meant what about the 4 players that were licked for the goal.
Defenders can be any one of 10 or less players, that there team is not in possesion.
He said as highlighted......
as i stated, Napoli played with 3 defenders, Aronica, Cannavaro and Campagnaro!!!
oh so by ur logic, Cavani, Hamsik and Lavezzi are defenders now????
or beta still, Drogba, Torres are defenders???
U really have no idea
Idiot, if you actually watch, defending starts when the opposition gets the ball. Cavani, Hamsik and Lavezzi are napoli's first line of defense. Watch Messi play and he is no different when he doesnt have the ball. Gees, do your friends actually laugh at you when you try to talk about football.

Re: SSC Napoli
With Napoli's system, 3 at the back can quickly turn into 5 at the back. The two problems were, Maggio got injured and secondly, once the score was 2-1, they should of gone ultra defensive, unfortunately for Napoli, they are not built that way. It is naive because Chelsea would not have broken them down.El Capitano wrote:Napoli went to Stamford Bridge and played 3 at the back....El Pibe D'Oro wrote:I would be embarrassed if I were you.

Re: SSC Napoli
El Pibe......Aronica is garbage. Simply put.
If I have baited you in previous posts I apologise.
He offers nothing in offence and little in defence.
Hes the coaches pet from their Reggina days.
If he doesnt want to start Britos or Fernadez we need to buy a STARTING DEFENDER of quality magnitude.
I still have that migraine from yesterdays defeat v Chelsea however would like to make some points from the game.
a. Maggio sub unsettled us some what. Dossena coming on is a more defensive player and was unlucky to concede the penalty.
b. Chelseas defence was superb on the night.
c. We can make this point after the Chelsea game but in hindsight the writing was on the wall
Napoli 6-3 win vs Cagliari wknd prior came with us conceding 3 headered goals (from the same player mind you)
Fernandez little CL experience vs Bayern Munich showed he can score in the air (2 goals) and defend.
He would have been a welcome acquisition in dealing with Chelseas air strikes as well as give us something in the box with
our 9 corners.
d. Chelsea got some momentum going, and Napoli didnt seem to know how to cope.
e. It was a very hard game to approach as the decision to attack for a goal or defend with numbers behind the ball was 50-50.
Mazzari could have gone for a more defensive formation, like introducing Dzemaili with his English experience of the game.
Instead of counterattacking on mass perhaps just with 2-3 players.
Finally I dont think we should be happy with making the last 16.
Coming 2nd in the group which included Bayern and Man C wasn't just luck!
We showed great character and great quality.
If the QF draw went our way who knows how far we could have gone in this competition!
The only way this result can be eroded from my mind is a swift CL exit by Chelsea
My hatred for English teams is unserpassed and this has just made it even the more volatile.
I look forward to Napoli's remaining Serie A fixtures and pushing for CL qualification for next year

Hey Lefty
Was in Melb on the wknd and visited Forza Italia shop.
Purchased a A6 size book on Lazio History $20 written in Italian for a Laziale friend of mine that lives in Sydney.
He handballed me a Nap Mars strip a few months ago so I repaid he managers faith. Looks like a Quality read
It brought him bad luck as you lost to Bologna at home for the 1st time in 17 years.
I then went to JBHIFI and purchased Abromovich the Chelsea years.
Was in 2 minds wether to purchase it or not but at $5 couldnt resist. I had a feeling it would bring me some bad luck.
It was bin night at my place last night!!!!!!!!

So by ur logic, All players are attackers as well??

Defenders are the back 3,4,5 players.
midfileders are the players who play between the defenders and attackers
yes, all players play a part in defending, but their NOT DEFENDERS!!

"Within the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield player whose primary role is to prevent the opposition from attacking."
There are four types of defender: centre back, sweeper, full back, and wing back. The centre back and the full back positions are essential in most modern formations. The sweeper and wing back roles are more specialized for certain formations."
"Forwards, also known as strikers, are the players on a team in association football who play nearest to the opposing team's goal, and are therefore principally responsible for scoring goals. This very advanced position and its limited defensive responsibilities mean forwards normally score more goals than other players; accordingly, they are often among the best-known and most expensive players in their teams. This is one of modern football's most demanding positions; it requires intelligence and speed, both of execution and of thought, to perform the role well.
Modern team formations usually include one to three forwards; two is the most common. Coaches typically field one striker who plays in an advanced position (the centre forward), and another attacking forward who plays somewhat deeper and assists in making goals as well as scoring (the second striker)."
