let's be honest here Firstly congrats to Easties they took their chances in the first half but overall the game was ruined by a little man in black in the middle of the park who thought everyone came to watch him. Petros do us all a favor champ and hang the whistle up and stick to watching football from afar. You are an absolute disgrace to the whole refereeing fraternity.
Easties look a decent side this year with the inclusion on Phil Kirreh and will definately give the league a shake up. Gardens missing Freddy and Foat today looked a little sluggish and frustrated at times but it's only pre season.

Gardens were uncreative, undisciplined and unimpressive today. Has the bubble burst? Maybe too early to tell, but definately not the same team that dominated last year.

Para Hills West 2 (C.Hedland 74' , G.Jerome 87' ) Salisbury Inter 0 .....Inter had lots of possession and plenty of half chances , but Westies won the game . Played in a good spirit and good to see that all player's shook hands after the game !

Well done to the East boys always nice to get some early silverware in the cupboard. Unlucky to Gardens it turned out to be a good workout for those who managed to stay the distance, we will live to fight another day. Not all doom and gloom though with a nice goal from one young Mr. B. McConnell a star for the future and quite possibly the youngest player ever to score for Gardens A's??????? :D

As for the :clown: above asking whether the bubble has burst    lets wait until the real season starts, give it a few games in and then start asking your silly questions.

You Too,

I know its a long sentence for you "blokes", but I'm sure Safehands said it was too early to tell if the bubble has burst. But thanks for the reassurance, and yes, we will wait for season proper........

and on a side note, congrats to Easties on their win today. Well deserved.

To the Gweet,
Nicely spoken at the presentation. As a spokesperson for the game, A+

Lefty,
Can you help me out here? Somewhere on this forum I'm sure someone said that the last 3 winners of the Salisbury Mayors Cup had gone on to win the league. Correct me if I'm wrong, but going on todays result then it must be Easties we have to all look out for!!!!!

Nah, bugger that, Gardens will still be the hunted. Todays display, although fairly ordinary and undisciplined, they are still the benchmark.

What a season 2012 is shaping up to be!!!!!

It's hard to see which teams may struggle in div one this year it will be a lot tighter than last year. It sounds like the two teams that went up are a lot better than the two that went down.

Great to see my boys get up yesterday. East played with real heart. Gardens imploded. They looked a very frustrated lot.

Watch the East storm to the Championship this year!

It was a fantastic win from my boys yesterday but anyone thinking that we will get carried away, is sorely mistaken. We played well & took our chances. Gardens are the benchmark & rightly so & they are definitely the side to beat again this year. Extremely pleased with the boys that stepped up aswell as we still have a few boys to come back into that side & it's great to see all the hard work we have done on & off the park is starting to show. Thanks again to Gardens for organising another great Mayors Cup & well done to Westies for hosting the tournament, always a fantastic 4 weeks of football!!

In the last 3yrs Gardens have won 2 MAYORS CUPS, 2 CICHANOWSKI SHIELDS, 2 CHALLENGE CUPS, 2 PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONHIPS & a CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS.

What is funny is Sunday was the Gardens 4th loss in 3 years & Easties are Winning the League & the Gardens Bubble has burst.... HILARIOUS

Percentages said that loss was coming, write the Gardens off at you own Peril...

Take off your rose coloured glasses and look again Codbreath Rides Again. When you're trying to be pedantic about semantics make sure your clever statements make sense. The entire length of the sentence was "Has the bubble burst?" not really long at all, is it? Even for us blokes.

Which team by the way is it that you and your sidekick safehands support, so's I know when to remind you about the bubble.

Bit touchy You Too - I read it as being in jest and noting some differences to the Gardens team that has dominated and will continue to be the benchmark and as you have correctly pointed out it is far too early to tell. Gardens are still the benchmark as everyone agrees and one swallow does not make a summer but seeing the Gardens lose just gives the rest of us a bit of hope albeit feint.

Yeah - fair call OldRedBack - it was a tad touchy.

Gardens may have one a lot over the last couple of seasons but in 2012 it counts for nothing.

If you or anyone else thinks that beating Gardens preseason makes you favourite to win the 2012 Championship your kidding yourself. I'm sure the likes of Pontians, Downs, Vale, etc etc etc may beg to differ.

Would never think that - Gardens still the red hot favourites. Results in pre season count for nothing - sometimes they are only good for boosting some bar revenue!

Good luck for the season.

First of all You Too... I would never write off Gardens. They have proven that they are a real force in Amateur Football, but that will not stop me from giving them shiraz when they get beat. It has been a long time coming, and the way it was done yesterday was sweet. As it has been stated, it seemed like they just imploded. My thoughts are that was because they have not been in the position of been 4-1 down for a long time, and the players that are so used to winning everything didn't know how to handle it.

As far as which team do I support... well it is the same team that I play ressies for... and that would be Elizabeth Downs... remember the team that gave the gardens ressies a football lesson at Hindmarsh last year?? So make sure that you pop in between the sticks to say hello next time you play us eh???
