Serie A round 24
Cesena - Milan
Fiorentina - Napoli
Genoa - Chievo
Inter - Bologna
Juventus - Catania
Lecce - Siena
Novara - Atalanta
Palermo - Lazio
Roma - Parma
Udinese - Cagliari
As a side note, the catch-up match we had v Parma was incredibly frustrating. Not enough creativity or penetration against a tightly packed defence again. Same old story - Chievo, Siena, Parma, Bologna. This needs to improve. Vucinic is pissing me off lately. Doesn't create enough and is not clinical. We had 17 shots overall v Parma, he accounted for 8. And I don't remember Pavarini truly being tested with one of those efforts.
Anyway, both Fiorentina v Napoli and Inter v Bologna are tomorrow morning our time. Huge for Inter after four matches without a win, while Napoli have a good test ahead of Chelsea.
Must win for Juve on Saturday. We need momentum ahead of Milan and a belief that we can break down a team that will seek a point.
Milan away at Cesena, Ibra still suspended. After the Arsenal high and with more and more players returning from injury they should be fine.
Palermo v Lazio should be decent, like most Palermo matches at the Renzo Barbera, you expect to see goals.

Definitely a must win for Juve.
Be good to see Del Piero get a run from the start. At least you know if he gets a couple of chances he's going to make better use of them than Matri and Vucinic at the moment.
Vidal suspended and Marrone injured if I'm not mistaken, which means we're likely to get a look at Padoin in the centre of midfield again.

If we go 3-5-2 again, I'd start:David Puddy wrote:Definitely a must win for Juve.

------------------Buffon
-----Barzagli-----Bonucci-----Chiellini
Lichtsteiner------------------------De Ceglie
------Marchisio-----Pirlo------Giaccherini
-------Quagliarella---------Matri
With 4-3-3 I'd be starting Giaccherini and Quagliarella/Elia on the wing with Padoin centre mid. De Ceglie left back.

Re: Serie A round 24
And for Milan I am expecting:
-----------Abbiati--------------
Abate--Nesta---T.Silva--Mesbah
----------Van Bommel-----------
------Ambrosini--Nocerino-------
------------Boateng-------------
---------Pato--Robinho----------
Subs: Emanuelson for either Ambrosini or Boateng around the 60th minute, El Sharaawy for Robinho in the 75th, and Maxi Lopez for Pato in either the 15th minute when he gets injured, or the 85th.
And a relatively easy win

I think Giaccherini will replace Vidal, especially if Conte plays 3-5-2.David Puddy wrote:Definitely a must win for Juve.

We like to see some turnover in attack, with Quags and Del Piero starting.
Vucinic scored some amazing goals at Roma, especially cutting in on the left, but he is badly out of range at the moment.
Re: Serie A round 24
We really need this away win, as I cannot see Udine dropping any points to Cagliari at home!

Buffon
Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Chiellini, De Ceglie
Marchisio, Pirlo, Padoin
Giaccherini, Quags, Del Piero
But whatever Conte decides I'm sure it'll be the right choice, as it has been on almost every occasion this season.

Re: Serie A round 24
the table now looks a little more better!
no goals conceded in last 2 games is positive as well.
would have preferred to win 1-0 and save the other 2 goals for chelsea!
lets not be selfish now. take the good with the bad.
inter conceding 12 goals in 4 games with only 1 point to show from it.
INTER AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........i love it!
Another favourable result for Laziale.

Inter are in dire straits after a shock 3-0 home defeat to Bologna, the first in 14 years, meaning they’ve lost five of their last six games in all competition.

Inter
Good to see Napoli back on track before the champions league game, this coming from a Juve supporter.
Hopefully Inter don't embarrass Serie A too much in Europe.

Come on Tino, I know you'll be cheering for us when watching the game. Serie A runs through your veins and the CL will feel more like Italy vs EnglandJuventino wrote: fantastic run by Inter.
As for CL, shiraz them. Forza Didier this week

Napoli yes, Inter no. Irrespective of who they've got, the big-match atmosphere at the San Paolo is always brilliant and it's good to see different teams in the CL go far.

Andrea Pirlo!
1 goal and 2 assists, all class.
Marco Motta still showing where his loyalty lies, helping us out a bit with that red card.
Just glad I don't have to see him perform those kind of tackles in the black and white anymore.

Motta is still thick as ever
Except for Rai advertising a match that never came on it was a good morning. Gives us momentum heading into Milan and showed strength to come from behind to win. And finally Pirlo opens his account!

Juventus coach Conte: Referee was 'perfect' against Catania.
A few choice words the week before can work wonders.

Palermo were godo without being ridiculously good... This is probably the first time this season Lazio have been punished for playing badly.Blue Mastiff wrote:Palermo pummel Lazio!

Napoli with an awesome away result. Still 5 points away from 3rd
Re: Serie A round 24
Lecce really turned it on against Siena in the second half. The runs by Muriel (to win the penalty) and Cuadrado (for his goal) were outstanding. That gives them a huge boost and puts them in with a shot to avoid the drop. Only one loss in seven or eight matches. And both of those players are owned by Udinese - I wonder if they'll get a chance next season?
Milan had it easy after that quick 1-2 knockout punch. Cesena's goal was nice, but they didn't threaten enough to seriously challenge Milan and it sets up the blockbuster next week.
Of course Genoa would ruin their home form, but Chievo are a side that can do that to you. Just like Udinese struggled against Cagliari, another capable of frustrating.
Palermo - wow. I'll certainly be speaking to my Lazio-supporting mate later for err, consolation.
