Why doesn't the SAASL or FFSA make it easier for people to set up their own club?
For example me and mates live around Glenunga area and want to play football. We go to join up with Iggies but see the club is huge with loads of side so we take it on our own to start up a small club of our own.
Stuckey instead of starting up your own Club why don't you & your mates go play for Adelaide Vikings they are a good Club with Great History Excelent Grounds & they play in Div.2 ???
Thanks for the offer. That was just an idea as I live in London now.
I agree that there are some great clubs out there but there are also people who are keen to start up a piece of their own history in a new club. I think if the FFSA or SAASL could assist them in the right direction it might A) see more clubs start up which will give the bodies more fees B) be a new source of revenue for the bodies as well if they charge people for their time.
I think the governing bodies should also look at encouraging work places to set up their own sides. It would be great advertising for that business as well and keeping their employees fit and happy.

Living in London you would know that new clubs start up every year and clubs fold every year. The average lifecycle for a club in England is apparently 7 years.

I have played in various different leagues for 2 different clubs up there (one saturday and one sunday - and that's the thing I enjoyed there not having to choose which day to play on, you just play both).

What alot of people on this forum don't realize is just how fragile there Club actually is.
Seriously look at the people in your Club doing all the work, now take them away & then struggle to replace them ask the Downs, Inter, Vale, Gardens ect. ect. They've all been through it & will again. And"HOPEFULLY" they'll SURVIVE again next time...
Now What? Now do we just let your Club Fold!
It has happened at our Club when our Juniors Folded people that did all the work, there kids grow up they move on the Club can't & don't replace them...
Then What? FOLD... Just ask Andy Daily Elizabeth Fields Div.2
This is going to happen more & more with Football Clubs in our Association...
What do we do about it? Do we do what the RAT suggests & just let the strong survive & keep getting New Clubs or do we come up with strategies to help Our Clubs attract new Players, Members & Vollenteers???
or should we just do nothing & watch Proud Clubs like USC, VIKINGS, & others FOLD due to lack People???

Correct lippy, Andy Deely real Good Bloke but he just got tired doing it on his own & the Fields FOLDED very sad.
My point is should We & Our Association just allow ELIZABETH FIELDS to happen over & over again while investing $$$ in New Clubs???
Or should we help Clubs like USC & VIKINGS survive???
Pretty easy question to answer I think...

Nugget this is the Key, you cant just force players to clubs that are folding hoping that this will help them survive.
why did players/supporters leave in the first place..?
Solve the problem & fix the issue and the club will retain its nucleus and survive, the problem is some of these
clubs have created a culture that is beyond repair and no amount of money support or players will help them
so, sometimes you just have to close the door and let another club start from scratch and create a new enviroment and cultutre. Look at the Power One club one culture ...? One huge debt with life line after life line thrown at them...!

WTF are you on about FORCING players to Clubs that are Folding RAT, never once have I suggested that. All I am suggesting that there is some Help given to Clubs if needed, may-be some involvement or Consolation & Effort from our Association before Clubs Fold.
May-be more Effort keeping our Clubs than Getting New Ones.
That is all I am saying WTF is wrong with you?

I don't see how PAFC has anything to do with any kind of SAASL Club structure ? What a ridiculous analogy. Besides the SANFL rob both AFL clubs dry - crows sold out of season tickets and still made a loss ?!!

At Ingle Farm we introduced a "volunteer discount" on drinks to encourage volunteers to stay on.

Its important to remember people are giving up their time for nothing, and generally cop critiscm for the way they might do something.

Yes its hard finding those special type of club people, but its even more important to acknowledge, reward and respect them also. Without them, as nugget correctly points out, there is no club !!

WTF do we need more Clubs when you have existing Clubs struggling for player numbers & support? It doesn't make sence to me. Players who want to play should be directed to existing Clubs, Not New Clubs!

If people want to play FOOTBALL why start New Clubs?
Why not direct them too existing Clubs that need playing numbers, it's absolutley ridiculous
There is absolutely NO logic to your arguement at all, it's like the chicken & egg story...

The League SHOULD be directing New Players to Existing Clubs & not promoting New Clubs End of Story
Well looking at your comments its clear to me you just want new players to go to clubs that are folding...

let me try and explain to you.... its not about sending players to clubs that will fix the problem
its about fixing the clubs problems before the club needs players because they have all left..

I was saying you can throw as much support and money at a club but if the supporters or culture of the club isnt there it wont make a bit of difference.

Back in early 2000's the Salisbury Council had a initiative where a Professional Consultant & someone from the Council came to our Club, they spoke to our Committee about Our Club Structure, the Problems that our Club faced Internally & Externally & how to over come some of those Problems & Our Clubs Goal & 5 year Plan.
It helped our Club Immeasurably & dont believe that we would have achived what we did without doing that.

This is the type of thing that Im suggesting that the SAASL need to put in place for there Clubs.
