Eastern Suburbs Challenge Cup?

How can that be if ISC Raptors, werent invited to participate??
Weve been a part of amateur league soccer in the eastern suburbs for many years now, not to mention the only greek-based club in that side of town yet we dont get a chance to take part

It should probably be re-named the Italian Eastern Suburbs Soccer Clubs Challenge Cup. They would be a more suitable name.

Maxin in the shade, I am assuming your are posting your personal view, rather than the view of your club. I was contacted by your club coach to participate in the ESC 2007. As I explained, I wanted to give first priority to the eight clubs that participated in the prior year, however with NAB and Adelaide Villa unable to participate, we left the competition at six teams due to my time constraints. It had nothing to do with the fact the your club is of Greek background - ask the people at your club that know me (MegaBonus, colon cleanser, chris_ikon) and I am sure you will find I bear no animosity towards them or the club, or them towards me.

It is not an exclusive competition, nor is it reserved for solely Italian-background teams (as evidenced by St Peters OC participation). As I am the one person solely responsible for organising the challenge, it does take up a fair bit of my time.

Anyway, I look forward to hopefully having the Raptors involved in future editions of the Eastern Suburbs Challenge.

i havent spoken to anyone at the club about this, and your right - i was only posting my personal opinion

i wasnt bearing no grudges either. i was only stating that with it being an
Eastern Suburbs competition, it wouldve been good to have all Eastern Suburbs sides involved.

With that being said, hope it all runs smoothly and it goes well

A great vision to have all Eastern Suburbs side involved, but is near impossible considering teams such as Payneham, Athelstone, Mercedes OC, Unley are all 'Eastern'. And not to forget the Modbury based teams!

Don't worry, I would love to have a 16 team comp in four groups played over four weeks culminating in a carnival style finals day - but this takes time to organise, plan, etc, and given I am still involved with the committee at my club and I play, well, you get my drift. :)

Iggies and Saints are definitely not Italian-based clubs.

Congratulations and well done to Aldo Serena for organising the competition again.

there is only 1 italian on the committee at Iggies now. The player come from a wide range of ethnic groups.

Of my head we have croats, italians, egyptian, scottish, English, greeks and macedonians.

Italian coach (this year - English last) and maybe 1 or 2 italians in the main squad.

We are far from Italian.

It is a well known fact, however, that Hawkesy wishes he was.

2003 was played as a one-day carnival and was taken out by MSSC Blue Eagles at Marden.

2004 was expanded into a 4 week comp, with Adelaide Villa winning the final at Newton Sportsfield.

2005 once again ran with a 4 team, 4 week comp and was won by San Marco on penalties against Adelaide Villa in the final.

2006 was expanded to 8 teams, and was won by Rostrevor OC over St Peters OC in the final.
