Re: Maiwand promoted to div 3
Sunday? If so, div 4 was a shambles last year. Polonia were subsequently promoted but recently I heard they may struggle to field two sides, meaning whoever the hell was left in that Div that didnt get banned could well get a freebie!

Doubt that, as I had been told Seaford were in Div 3!
Should Maiwand be back?

If this is true, the SAASL have lost their minds.

Great ball-playing side. Friendly, family-orientated club. Excellent decision.

Slightly off-topic, but I was playing collegiate league a few years back and a supporter of a club pulled a gun on our coach.
Couple of cops in ballistic vests rocked up and saved the day.

It amazes me some of these clubs the Amateur League allow in the League after the trouble they cause...
They don't deserve another chance after what happened.

Probably time for the league to invest in some legal advice and make the application to get into the league a little more difficult. Sad as the easy going nature worked so well but teams like this can't be allowed to be involved the league and ruin it for the 99% who get so much out of it.
Re: Maiwand promoted to div 3
if they are accepted I know of a few refs that will refuse in officiating their games

teams should also just refuse to play them, players and refs stick together and they won't last long.

Re: Maiwand promoted to div 3
the league rules have changed and that would no longer be allowed. A first team game can no longer be played without an "appointed" ref. S Villa in those days found an old ref who would do their games but was never appointed by SAASRA.sirstevieg wrote:very true Lisbon...they are club that referees refused to do & like you said still managed to play.
As such, if refs refused to officiate their fixtures then they would not get a single point all season. They would win the reserves though.
