Liverpool vs Man City
2nd leg of the Carling Cup coming up, Liverpool leading 1-0 but they're home form is very average.
City can definitely get back into this, but in order to do so, they need goals. As such, they'll have to come out and attack against a Liverpool side that has struggled for goals at home. If Liverpool can hold out for long enough, then City may throw caution to the wind and leave themselves open to the counter attack.
Liverpool were very, very defensive in the first leg and they may look to do the same in this 2nd leg to protect their league. But, Liverpool have kept just three clean sheets at home in eleven games and are facing free-scoring Manchester City. I'm staying away from the goals market as I think Ov/Un 2.5 is more dependent on the time of the first goal than ever in this game.
Obviously team news is significant in this one, but I think that Man City on a Draw No Bet at 1.975 at Bet365 is a good shout. Let me know what you think?
Cheers.

What a performance! In particular, Craig was outstanding. If only his knees were a few years younger...

The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil!

Obviously, if I had the choice between a younger Craig or N'Gog right now, it would be a straightforward answer.Litmanen wrote:Bolton > Man cityBowTiesAreCool wrote:![]()

dont rate the league up near as high as the FA cup but to win a trophy would be nice and it's a step in the right direction. Now bring on the red side of manchester!

Very droll of Kenny, however it does show that something ought to be done to change the handball rule so that the word 'deliberate' is removed and to leave it to the refs discretion as to whether the player gained an advantage or it was deliberate.NickyTanner wrote:Reporter: "What did you think of the penalty decision?" Surely that wasn't a penalty, ball has ricocheted up off his foot?!
Still, no more than Liverpool deserved. Great performance after losing to Bolton.
City look shaky without Yaya and Kompany.

Agree. Deliberate is stupid word, I think it was harsh but his hands were outstretched asking for a pen to be given.Nice One Cyril wrote:Very droll of Kenny, however it does show that something ought to be done to change the handball rule so that the word 'deliberate' is removed and to leave it to the refs discretion as to whether the player gained an advantage or it was deliberate.NickyTanner wrote:Reporter: "What did you think of the penalty decision?" Re: Liverpool vs Man City
So would over rule an own goal if you though the defender couldn't get out of the way of a ball he deflected in?

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
Don't be stupid, completely different, as the ball would still be over the line and a goal.

Re: Liverpool vs Man City
You can argue about this until the cow's come home but, in general, I think a free kick should be given if an advantage is gained by the handball, except where the arms are down by the side or the ball would have struck another part of the body if the arm/hand wasn't there. eg. If a player crosses his arms across his chest and the ball hits them it would be ridiculous to give handball as the ball would have hit him fairly and squarely in the chest.Redmum's Avatar wrote:So would over rule an own goal if you though the defender couldn't get out of the way of a ball he deflected in?
You'd then have to leave it up to the referee to decide if it was intentional or not and issue the caution. I happen to think Richards' handball was not.

NOC, I agree. But who knows if it made any difference to the outcome.

Edited for accuracyNickyTanner wrote:NOC, I agree. But who knows if it made any difference to the outcome.
Joe Hart said the better team over the 2 legs won....that will do for me because it's Liverpool.

Had he said the same and the result been the other way around, you'd have been calling him stupid.
