football or soccer in name?

Post by Red Dragon »

I agree with you alm,but in our situation in Yankalilla we faced a bit of tension towards use of football in club name ,so as to avoid any ill feelings towards and or conflict we decided on soccer to save us any potential grief in our small community. It would be far easier if we could change eggball(football) to Aussie Rules.

Of course it matters, the sport is football not that horrible "s" word.

I have argued before at my club that I really don't see this an issue. We play seperate sports in seperate leagues. I see no reason why you couldn't play as Athelstone Football Club. If it's a case off registered company names then that can also be sidestepped. Athelstone FC, FC Athelstone etc.. would all be possibilities.

I personally think all clubs should show unity and get rid of that S word from their names. It's the PFA, Adelaide United FC, Perth Glory FC etc...
