Maybe a suggestion Redback cld some Coaches that yell and abuse the young players they are supposed to be teaching the principles of getting to the standard of a decent footballer actually coach them and not yell and abuse them, and just maybe they mite have the same work ethic as some senior or "old" players as you like to use???
Or maybe the senior "better" players don't yell and abuse the younger players they might actually want to carry on developing!
Plenty of younger players around who don't want to play alongside you Michael because of your 'on field' attitude when the ball
doesn't land within an inch of your left peg.
Hopefully the A Licence has changed your views on this as I believe you have a lot to offer the younger generation.
I have a fierce desire to win but know that not every pass can land on a inch of a boot, thts ridiculous to suggest. Are you 1 of those young players that doesn't have the drive to train hard and perfect ur passing skills???
Yes I am and have found a diff view to coaching due to the courses I have put myself on, its bait like playing in that you train and learn to get better

No I'm not one of the young players, but I've witnessed it many a time as a coach and spectator
during your stints with Vale and Florina, but actually didn't see a lot of it at Gardens to be honest.
I always wondered how you'd go with being a coach if you didn't change your
"fierce desire to win" attitude that's all.
As you will know coaching young players is about developing them, you don't do that with purely a fierce desire to win, it
may cloud your judgement and old Brooksey might come back
Glad you've seen the light!
What are you doing next season?
Coaching?
Playing?
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil!

Can think of about 30-40 or so quality players who played for the Downs 1sts before reaching the age of 18......several went on to successful Federation "careers".
Always helps to play around-along with respected or "mentor" players

Carra iv Been with same team for 5 years and ever since the day I signed iv been trying to help the kids but unfortunately re world we live in now the young kids know better and 3/4 of them refuse to listen or answer back

That's why only one in a 1000 make the grade mate. Cos they listen and are dedicated, otherwise we would all be millionaires. So i don't think shouting at anyone will make a difference. If he or she wants to learn then they will.
WHY DO THEY CALL IT OVALTINE? I MEAN ITS ROUND, WHY DONT THEY CALL IT ROUNDTINE.
Andy Mac played juniors just like Foaty, Spiby, Freddy, both Stamma's but they all went on gave Feds a shot & have come back... Tapey would be the only one who has stayed with the club his whole life & I believe thats what Redback is asking what do clubs do to hold onto these good young junior players & how are they intergrated into the senior set up..

Even Tapey played at fed level with APAC didn't he

I thought you weren't allowed around children anymore?? Don't think the language barrier helps when you try and talk to them, perhaps slow down the words (might help).
Short of that tackle the living daylights out of them and just point and say tackle. They will learn.
Don't suppose you will be passing on your infamous ability to score with any part of your head from a corner?? front, back, side you got it all

That being said though what are everyone's thoughts on whether development of younger players is being stifled as older ex Fed players keep younger players out of teams or have we got the balance generally right? I ask because I have seen examples of both where it has hindered development but has also helped young players grow by working alongside these older players and seeing a good example set.
I think you will get people agreeing on both sides of the argument. Myself I like the idea of having some youth playing alongside experienced senior players, not more than 4 "juniors" in the first eleven. It is an interesting topic for debate, you can have a young player who doesnt quite make it with a ffsa club, goes to a saasl club, will get a game somewhere, play alongside and against some older players, would gain a lot of experience.
Yes General it was designed to be a discussion and look at positives and negatives from the whole community. I have seen the positives and I have also seen the negatives as some have pointed out that some Billy Big Potatoes cannot adjust to the amateur game but some have greatly benefitted those that they have played with when they have stepped down to the Amateur game and must congratulate the likes of Ebomo, Campbell, Morrison and Day for being examples of that.

And we have seen 1st hand some bigger plonkers destroy 11 and 12 yr old kids confidence haven't we, is that why ur not coaching them anymore???
Why don't you start at topic about that???? Surely an interesting debate wld follow!!!

I say play your best eleven. If the kids are good enough they will stay in the team if not they will play reserves for a while and if they don't like that they will move on, the older players will eventually go and other kids will come through.
