271.When, shortly after the match, he went to see the referee with the manager, Mr Evra complained that Mr Suarez had said "I don't talk to you because you niggers". Mr Evra
told us that he believed, from the moment he heard Mr Suarez use the word “negro”, that
this meant nigger.
272. It seemed to us that Mr Evra's understanding of the Spanish word "negro" was influenced by his knowledge of Italian. In his interview with the FA on 20 October, Mr Evra said that he thought "nero" meant "black", whereas "negro" meant "nigger". This was what he thought from his knowledge of Italian, and he went away to check the position in Spanish.

Surely, the use of the word negro (black) in an aggressive or derogatory fashion is still racist, irrelevant of what Evra understands it to mean.

Big_Chief wrote:Whether Evra believes the term used was more akin to the word nigger rather than black is surely irrelevant in the context of what was said. I you because you're a nigger is hardly different to saying I hit you because you are black. Also, to clarify, I'm of the belief that Evra has never accused anyone of racial abuse before and this suggestion he has was started by a Liverpool fanzine writer.

On the whole, I find it amazing how Liverpool fans can still blindly defend Suarez, despite the report's findings. The independent commission have made their findings, which given their law backgrounds, puts them in a pretty good position to make an accurate judgement. They've found him guilty and he's copped his whack. He didn't rape or murder anyone. He made a few stupid comments in the heat of the moment that crossed the line in regards to what is acceptable in society today. As Evra has said, he does not believe him to be a racist, so let's all move on. However, the villianising of Evra, the FA and MUFC as though they all have some sort of agenda is just bottle of shiraz shameful and embarrassing (points at e-football, The Kop and Reds4life)
Big_Chief wrote:Read the link: 'As the FA report says “The two witnesses who say they heard those words directed by Mr Bethell at Mr Evra are the Manchester United first team coach Mr Mike Phelan and the goalkeeping coach Mr Richard Hartis.” It later goes on to say “Even if we disregard the fact that Mr Evra has never claimed to have heard such a remark on that day, it is notable that there were several other people far nearer to Mr Bethell at the critical point in time than were either Mr Phelan or Mr Hartis.”'

You're losing the plot now. Embarrassing is that you're defending someone who's admitted to calling Evra racist names. Whether Suarez considers them to be such is irrelevant - when in Rome........ I wouldn't go to Saudi Arabia and wander down the street with a beer in my hand even though it's perfectly acceptable where I live. The Kop wrote:Embarrasing is that we were all waiting for a smoking gun, something definitive and what we have is decision based on the balance of probablities that one guy's word is more credible than the other. As for an appeal, I would hope that the Liverpool legal eagles take a more considered view and let their heads rule their heart.
Finally, I hope that John Terry gets banned for at least 8 matches.

Admission? What admission?
I'm defending no one who's admitted to calling Evra racist names.
This ignorance is at the heart at why the club should fight for Suarez.

It certainly gives effect to his testimony. He can't figure out if he was called nigger (in a bizarre round-a-bout Italian way) or black in Spanish but can remember verbatim every single word of a conversation? He couldn't even figure out how many times he was called this word but again remembers the conversation verbatim?
He knows what he was called. Negro. His background with the Italian language caused him to interpret it probably more harshly than a Spanish speaker would. When the word is used 7-8 times and he's playing in one of the biggest matches of the season, I am unsurprised he cannot remember the number of times it was used. Again, this to me this is irrelevant. We have the crux of the exchabge, which Suarez has basicallt admitted. If only 50% is accurate, then Suarez is still guilty

What were you expecting?? The effects microphone to capture the exchange clearly.
It's actually shameful how based on the lack of real evidence that someone can be lynched and reputation permanently tarnished in such a way. Shameful and embarrasing the inconsistencies and double standards that exist in the report (if you bothered to read it).
Where's the lynching?? The only lynching has been by Pool fans against Evra, Man U, the FA and the commission. The commission has simply made their report, found him guilty and the FA has given him a 8 game ban. How Suarez is portrayed in the media or how fans opinions of him alter is up to the individual journalists and fans.
The fact Evra interviewed well and in English while Suarez seemed nervous and talked through an interpreter weighed on their opinion. Ridiculous. Of course he interviewed well, on the prior two occasions he was deemed as an unreliable witness I'm sure he's learnt a thing or two. More inaccuracies. When has Evra been deemed an unreliable witness??
Onwards with appeal....
It's entirely relevant. On one hand he uses Italian to misconstrue word used and confuses the quantity used yet on the other hand he remembered word for word a conversation in what is effectively his 3rd language. It's perverted logic at best!Big_Chief wrote:The Kop wrote:

Yes he was......and Suarez has been deemed the same in regards to this situation.Evra was deemed to be an unreliable witness at the 'Battle of the Bridge'. Re-check your facts here.

Two entirely different situations. Even KK and Comolli have been made out to look like idiots with their testimonies.
Have you even read the report?
FMD get over it. Suarez shiraz up. Accept the punishment and move on.
