Conte's Juve
Incredible character. We'd have lost that match 5-0 last season, but here it was a fantastic fightback. And overall, what a game.

Re: Conte's Juve
we cant defend for shiit, the 1st 2 Juve goals were the worst defending i have ever seen, the juve player was always free on the back post!!
Aronica is useless!
Pepe with the third, nice taken goal, but again, the partenopei defending?????
Pandevs third, classy classy goal, but he should of layed it off to Lavezzi
very peeeeeved off we couldnt keep the 3 points, bein 3-1, we SHOULD of killed off the game with 20 mins to go!!

Re: Conte's Juve
Great game to watch. Poor defending by both teams, Aronica for Napoli and Bonucci' for Juve. Great pass by Bonucci to set Hamsik up.
Hamsik pen was great to watch, scored and rand down the tunnel and the pen was retaken for encroachment. LOL
I personally don't agree with that rule as it should only apply if the encroaching player knocks in a rebound or a defender clears due to entering early it should be retaken.
The real Juve stood up in the last 2 games. Great Spirit.

Re: Conte's Juve
I did get a phone call from a Napoli fan who has never called me durin a game to ask how my morning was.
I sent him a text at full time just to wish him a good day.
He called very humbly and wanted to talk about other things.
Still love him
It ends in May, these small battles matter but with so many games to go its anyone championship.

Re: Conte's Juve
Napoli's 4 games in 12 days is the only reason we didnt win this game.
juve have improved vastly this season, quality team and with one game a week should be title contenders
the penalty was a ridiculous decision, but so was so many other ones in the game eg Egzeberrria and Liechsteiner not being sent off
draw was a fair result in the end.

Juventus fought back from 3-1 down for a heart-stopping 3-3 draw at Napoli’s Stadio San Paolo, after Marek Hamsik missed a penalty!
This match was rescheduled from November 6 due to flooding, but both teams had to reshuffle. Edinson Cavani missed out due to a cut ankle, so Ezequiel Lavezzi moved forward with support from Goran Pandev and Hamsik. Claudio Marchisio was suspended for Juventus, so Marcelo Estigarribia was given his first start in a new 3-5-2 system.
Stephan Lichtsteiner’s deflected cross found Mirko Vucinic in plenty of space, but he pulled the angled drive across the face of goal.
Lavezzi sprinted down the left to the by-line where he was felled by a mistimed Andrea Pirlo sliding tackle. Hamsik converted and was already well into his celebrations when the referee ordered it retaken due to encroachment. The distraction clearly affected Hamsik, who blazed the retake over the bar!
The Slovak did get his goal soon after, though, as a Lavezzi free kick was knocked down by Christian Maggio for Hamsik’s diving header from point-blank range. He was marginally offside when the free kick was first floated in, but as he only made contact in the second phase of the move, it didn’t count.
Pandev dispossessed Pirlo in midfield for a shot just about blocked by Gigi Buffon, then Lavezzi got to the by-line only for Pandev to clumsily blast wide. At the other end, Estigarribia fired at the near post rather than cross for Simone Pepe, forcing a simple Morgan De Sanctis save.
Arturo Vidal went on the counter and was tackled with great vigour by Salvatore Aronica, but the referee waved play on. The tension got to Juve, as Leonardo Bonucci and Alessandro Matri were both booked for dissent.
Napoli doubled their lead before the break, as a clearance was deflected off a Juventus player into the path of Pandev, who was quick to react and placed his shot across Buffon with his weaker right foot.
Tension was sky high, but Hamsik risked big when shoving Lichtsteiner in the back and giving a little kick when he was down. They were both booked for the scuffle that ensued.
Matri pulled one back for Juve straight after the restart. Vidal’s inspired angled through ball sliced through the Napoli defence and allowed Matri to spring the offside trap, side-footing past the on-rushing De Sanctis. It was Matri’s fifth goal in nine Serie A games against Napoli.
Matri had the ball in the net for a second time three minutes later with a sensational volley, but had already been flagged offside. Giorgio Chiellini’s cross was then deflected on to the side-netting, then Vucinic’s fierce angled drive was beaten away at the near post by De Sanctis.
However, Pandev scored his second of the game with a goal of sheer quality. He gathered with his back to goal, spun round to flick the ball up off his thigh and hit the half-volley in off the inside of the near post.
Just as they had finished celebrating, Juventus got it down to 3-2! A Vucinic cross was deflected by Matri’s diving header for Estigarribia at the back post, who brilliantly controlled with his first touch to beat De Sanctis from close range.
Moments later, De Sanctis had his palms stung by a Vucinic screamer, while Chiellini’s finish was too weak from the Montenegro man’s pull-back.
Juventus made it 3-3! Walter Gargano lost possession in midfield, Pepe went on a mazy run through the middle and rolled a right-foot snooker shot into the bottom corner.
It was wide open, as Matri was going clear when Paolo Cannavaro stood strong in the box.

Re: Conte's Juve
NEWS
Tuesday November 29 2011Conte: 'So proud of Juventus'
By Football Italia staff
Antonio Conte hailed the Juventus heart to come back from 3-1 down in Naples. “I am proud to coach these lads.”
The Bianconeri were 2-0 under at half-time and losing 3-1 in the second half until Marcelo Estigarribia and Simone Pepe snatched a spectacular 3-3 draw.
“There were some very strong responses in terms of character. Aside from the head, legs and tactics, without heart you cannot fight back and put a game like this back on track,” whispered Conte, who had lost his voice by shouting from the touchline.
“It was a very difficult start and Napoli immediately played at a high tempo, but we seemed almost as if we were waiting for them to tire themselves out. There were a few distractions and we went 2-0 down, so that result, that performance and this atmosphere at the San Paolo would’ve broken any other team.
“This is why I am so proud that my team showed such humility, passion and belief to fight back. Quite aside from their technical gifts, I am very happy to see this inner strength from the squad. I am proud to coach these lads.”
Conte was without the suspended Claudio Marchisio and surprised everyone with a modified 3-5-2 system.
“We tried to mirror Napoli, as Christian Maggio makes the difference for them and I wanted him to go head-to-head with Estigarribia, who had an extraordinary game. Pepe is a very intelligent player tactically and had a little trouble finding his position in the middle, but then became devastating.
“We had prepared a match with Mirko Vucinic against Salvatore Aronica and Alessandro Matri on Paolo Cannavaro. We didn’t do well in the first half, as we often hesitated in giving them service. After the break the two strikers had much more of an impact.”

Re: Conte's Juve
great game to watch for a neutral supporter, but agonising to watch as a partenopei!
We shouldnt of lost a 3-1 lead
credit to juve who continued to attack though, but seriously our defence was a shambles.
To allow a free juve player on the back post, not once but TWICE...... i cannot believe it!

Hang on there - what culo???? We were in control in that first half were we not???Juventino wrote:Just like your first two goals then!
In the end Juve did very well to fight back, I would say that fatigue has gotten the better of us and Juve would be the happier of the two sides, but Napoli's two nil lead was not because of a*rse, far from it.
You can thank your mate Tagliavento for not being 3 down really. What a farce to retake the pen - there were two Juve players that encroached as well!!!!
At 3-1 we should have closed the game out and its no co-incidence Pandev came off and we crumbled.
Don't worry about players not tackling for the last goal, I am more upset at Gargano trying to dribble in the middle of the park? That goal belongs to him.
Anyway, we had to do it without our best striker and Pandev showed he can actually be of some importance.

Re: Conte's Juve
Trust me, you can't rely on Pandev. He scored a good goal tonight, but Napoli were already cruising. His substitution is only coincidence, you probably would of lost 4-3 had he stayed on the pitch.El Pibe D'Oro wrote: Anyway, we had to do it without our best striker and Pandev showed he can actually be of some importance.
Unlucky for Napoli this morning, at least Juve didn't win though, don't want to see them start to put a gap on the rest of us.
Re: Conte's Juve
Just how the goals came about - off Barzagli for the first and that ricochet to set up Pandev, which was a nice finish. But that's how it goes. Arse? Pepe had some luck too, but no arse from either side.El Pibe D'Oro wrote:Hang on there - what culo???? Re: Conte's Juve
Just having got back from Italy and watching this game on RAI reminded me of what i missed out on
missing the original game which was cancelled while i was there and had tickets to. Lucky i got my money back.
The atmosphere would have been electric even more so that what i experienced at the San Paolo during the game
against Udinese.
Having watched a few Serie A games live i can only say that the game in Italy is without a shadow of doubt a great league
with quality players and very very good clubs.
Of course while hugley disappointed with the result it was a fantastic game and a spectacle of great proportions.
Ah what i have missed, the passion, the craziness, those crappy seats, those mad supporters, those flares, those firworks, the game
and all washed down with a drink and a fantastic sausage and vedura pannino outside after the game.
Definatley going back soon to enjoy this marvelous experience

Probably a more important result for Juve than us beating Inter and Milan already this season.
It proves that we have the ability and heart to fight back even when things aren't going our way.
Pepe really on a hot run of form. Looking forward to getting back on the winners sheet against Cesena this weekend.
