Sturt need to be realistic

to much disharmony from last years coach.

Move into state league and rebuild, no way will they be able to field prems and reserves.

crazy turnaround though. only a few years ago they had a strong foundation of experience, young stars and plenty of prospects and were winning the league.

are you talking about 2010, or season just completed ?

If players are supposedly leaving Olympic and Sturt, where are they going to go to get a regular game ? will the league become even more depleted, are we going to have another Raiders and PH Utd scenario in the low divisions in 2012 ?

Due to the success of the agressive recruiting campaign by Uni, quite a few.
We still have a few great players whose first preference is to play with us.
We aren't the first club to offer incentives to attract/reatain players.

to much disharmony from last years coach.
I don't know there was disharmany FROM the coach.
There may have been disharmony WITH the coach.

Move into state league and rebuild, no way will they be able to field prems and reserves.
Maybe we will have to, But we have fantastic facilities, a positive enthusiastic committee and coach and we will do everything in our power to field teams until the last possible moment.

Dont think it was all down to the coach, disharmony amoung the committee to imo
I don't know there was disharmony with the committee or how you formed that opinion.
Sundays results are a result of professional committed players and maybe this was undermined by some desire to play on greener pitches.
Unfortunately finishing 2nd to bottom doesn't help the cause.

If players are supposedly leaving Olympic and Sturt, where are they going to go to get a regular game ? will the league become even more depleted, are we going to have another Raiders and PH Utd scenario in the low divisions in 2012 ?
Exactly, not everyone of them can play Prems surely. You may want to play with the best, but it is also important to play against the best. It is all well and good to attract everyone to your club at what expense to the competition?
If the Forum and rumours are correct about the teams from the south then it is going to be a short and lonely season.

sorry but sounds like a desperate club with plenty of problems
No argument. The only problem we have is a lack of committed players to our club.

Sounds like a club trying to compete.
Spot on!

paying players to attract them to a club is not a good sign at all.....but thats just my opinion, being involved in the game for a long time this is the first time a club has advertised that they would pay players to attract them there,

Does it say that they will be paid?
Or does it say there are incentives to play?

"Dear John"
Can't say over the time that I have read this forum that I have seen you view any activities at Sturt Marion with a positive viewpoint, so your post really doesn't come as much of a surprise.

To set the record straight, yes we have lost 'some' Premier players to the flavour of the month team, but we have retained a great core group and gained some promising new players. I am looking forward to the upcoming year with our new coach who has some fantastic credentials and exciting direction for our team.
Our Marion Club has invested in our lights and they are now of a standard to host night games so hopefully in the upcoming season we will see some exciting Friday night action in Marion!

Our advertising basically is intended at those girls who may have missed out at their club, or at clubs who may be struggling to get a seniors team together. We would hope that ALL premier league team who participated this year will be in the league next year, but my understanding is that this will not be the case.
A good competition is diverse and strong, not stacked and singular. 2012 should be interesting.

Cheers

Would that be the one who recruits good players from other clubs, rather then go to a club and actually develop the players they have ?

They play. They Quit. They never stay involved.

lisa@ sturt please tell us the situation here,
Our Club Season launch will be held shortly at which time our members will be informed of teams and club structure for the year. These are the people that I answer to first. It would be inappropriate of me to comment on here until our members are given this information.
I would keep an eye on the FFSA website rather than rumours on forums if you want club information.
You may need to check the settings in your replies as it seems that some of my message has had the font changed. If you want to ask a question, ask it - do not play with someone elses post.

It seems the women's premier league has a thin foundation and player movements can decimate clubs. It is sad to hear of Sturt Marion's plight with their fabulous facilities including night game lux and with some hardworking supporters. The Hawks state league team has suffered a similar fate.

I am sure we will all rebuild in spite of some.

Good luck to Hawks and Sturt. I wonder if some clubs/coaches now understand that they should PRODUCE their players instead of poaching them. Congratulations, you ruined the league.

Sturt needed to do more to keep they players that had been playing there all their life, rather than offer incentives to new players.
Most players that left were looking for a more professional club with less politics.

At the end of the day it's up to the player to move - nobody forces them.

You could put an impressive offer in front of the captain of most clubs, and they wouldn't (correction: shouldn't) move.

fair summary ...

no one forces a player to leave their existing clubs.

I think the key is to building an environment and rapport between players/coach/club that even when a player is offered money to leave, they refuse as the bond to club is strong.
